With that cash I'd ratherhave a GT3RS for track hooning, Audi RS4 for family duties and some kind of hot hatch for errands like a Yaris GR and still have money left over..
I'd be suspicious of that 300 figure. Especially if their engine is only revving to 8k. Mine was just a 2.3 with Schrick cams, Arrow rods, carbon air box etc and was reliable to 9k with 255+ bhp but it cost less than £10k to build. The whole car, with KWV3, AP brakes, cage etc was only £45k inc purchase of the car. This is for people with more money than sense who want to brag about their toys.
It's a masterpiece no doubt, I would rather have this than an original one but...£350.000 is an hyped amount, for that money there's so much better things to do. That's exactly what is wrong about the e30 market... and to be honest with a fraction of that money I've built a faster version 🤷🏻♂️😅
They're trying to reinvent the wheel and adding a silly price tag. People have been building and modding these since they were new and there are well established recipes for the engine specs etc. As you say, a better, faster car can be built for way less money.
You can't fault the work done by Retropower but 350k plus you need your own doner E30 which will be another 30k plus for a half decent one. It sounds like this project is set up for rich people who have nothing better to do with their money but I wish I was one of them.
For that amount of money you can get a brand new M2 CS, an E46 M3 and a concours E30 M3 EVO. I wonder how much Retropower (who built the car) would charge for fully restored a 300+HP E30 M3.
Personally no, but it for a certain type of person who is passionate about the E30 M3 and has the cash required. The whole restomod scene is great although admittedly some of these companies need to rethink their pricing strategy. Over 300 grand is a bit ridiculous.
I'm passionate about the E30 M3. Had one years ago, loved it. But responsibility comes and cars get sold. If I found myself with millions in the bank. I'd get another one and do some choice mods to it. The mods that everyone who knows the E30M3 well would do. Very little of what this car has done would go on my hypothetical "ultimate" M3. And I'd save well over £100K even if I paid other people to do the work for me! This car is getting hammered on the well known E30 M3 sites.
Ridiculous price tag for people with more money than sense. There's certainly no point in ruining a genuine example when half of it is being junked in favour of aftermarket panels just because carbon fibre. The headlights look silly and those door mirrors look like Chinese E36 M3 items. There's also a reason why people don't run 18'' rims. As for all those emblems? Less is more.
I hope I am being wrong here but I have a weird feeling and it the company and this restomod. I can’t help but think that there might be a money scam hidden behind all this, I don’t know why… Not to mention that an S54 engine would have been welcome. I course I did not have the chance to drive this car and it seems great but I lacks something to me eyes, especially for its price tag. Am I alone feeling this way? 🤔😬
Nathan, to paraphrase a comment I saw elsewhere. "It's clear the company was invented first, then the car was created. It all feels insincere" The guy who owns Singer, had his own car, which he built for himself for fun. He owned it for a few years. Modifying it as he went along. People saw it, liked it, and asked him to build them one. The car was his passion and led to the business. Redux as a company is clearly the other way round. I don't think they'll still exist in 3-5 years time.
@@rych7852 Thanks for your answer mate. That’s very much unfortunate. I feel bad for the E30 now. On the other hand thi will be a bargain broken E30 M3 projet car in t’en years 🤣
You try find spare parts for e30 m3. Like finding needle in haystack. If you can find them. Need to be rebuilt and refurbished. And ones you can't find have to be custom made to same spec.
@@adambarrett5696 As a previous E30 (with both S52 and S54 as well) parts can be hard to find, MUCH harder for the M3. Sad that few are re-making parts unlike the Porsche community.
There is a guy in America Bruce Canepa who buys 2million dollar 959's and spends 4000 hours rebuilding them to perfection, with 850bhp and 230mph, well worth checking out
Some harsh comments for what looks like some very well thought out and quality work. I agree the price tag is a bit outrageous but like that someone has the wherewithal to tastefully modify and E30 M3. It would be sacrilege by any other and I think the mods are tasteful. It does look amazing. I disagree with discontinuing the turbo option for the Redux E30 M3. I likely won't send mine to them for work because of the price but a I always thought this car would have done well as a turbo.
Yet another bespoke version of a production car which was considerably more financially accessible back in the day, its imperfections notwithstanding. Sadly, this is just one more toy for the One-Percenters. I'll stick with my S550 Mustang GT, thankuverymuch.
is not ruining an original M3?, I mean, replacing the original engine with one designed by redux and M..., If they can do this to a cheap E30 would be great. I mean converting an old 316 to the car we are seing, ok, but modifying so much a collectible car like an original M3... I will pick always an e36 M3 than e30, specially the 3.2. There is a restomoded E36/46 ???, it would be awesome.
That's a really high price tag to justify yes it's a stunning car but is it worth that price, ooh and it would of been better with someone who actually knows how to drive a car on a track and a Rwd car aswell
Unlike "one offs" from say Retropower, Redux and a few others have confused restoration and development costs with retail price. It might make sense to transform a tatty e30 diesel, would you really take away the originality of a viable M3 and spend so much?
The most stunning restomod yet?
Not even close. Also, I'd be asking why my 300? brake s14 is smoking.
In steps the e30 M3 by Renner with 6 more cylinders.
With that cash I'd ratherhave a GT3RS for track hooning, Audi RS4 for family duties and some kind of hot hatch for errands like a Yaris GR and still have money left over..
tuned and balanced to handle 500ish horses I was expecting for such a price. Even then i would say 120k region at best.
For 350k I want a better build quality, more power etc. Singer is also bloody expensive but they do interior right.
Go to bmp conversions

Think a nut and bolt restoration of a original M3 is the way to go, saving enough money to do a second car also.
65 more horses. 50 kilograms less. Enormous price tag. The numbers do not add up.
That number is freakin hilarious.
At least on this planet

Dogleg gearbox was only for euro spec, the Japanese and US spec E30 M3's have the standard "H" pattern.

This guy needs his own channel.
Smoked rear lights, silly updated headlamps, it's a no from me.
Never could understand why anyone would voluntarily make their taillights/brake lights harder to see.

With that price it would probably be cheaper to just build an original M3 out of spare parts.

‘Billet alloy block’ and then a few seconds later ‘the original engine block is retained’….
It may be right up some people’s street, but does nothing for me, never mind the price.
It's amazing how hard BMW E30 nerds have to work to beat a stock 944 turbo.
That price is ridiculous. No way
