People often hail Brady or Mahones as the greatest quarterback in football history. But Joe Montana accomplished a feat that those two haven’t. He won the chip four times from 1981 to 1989. Never lost or threw a single interception in the big game. And keep in mind the game of football was much more brutal and violent than it is today. Joe Montana will forever be a legend in pro sports.
All the older 49ers fans during this decade were so fortunate to see their teams win Super Bowls. The only one I was able to see was the 1994-95 Super Bowl against the Chargers on ABC. It's been purgatory ever since but I'm still proud to be a 49ers fan for life.
It’s hard to believe that Dan Marino and the Dolphins never made it back to the Super Bowl! Marino a hall of famer never won a super bowl. I feel sorry for him and I’m a 49ers fan!
Joe Montana sports talk football on the Mega Drive made me a Niner in 1994. Always will be. Also my brother visited Candle stick in 2001. We are in Manchester UK. Merry Christmas.
Living in Palo Alto at the time, my friend drove around the week before the game with a sign on his truck's tailgate that said: 'Fish Fry @ Stanford Stadium this Sunday.' Still laugh about it now!
The 84 49ers is the most underrated team of all time. I believe they are the best nfl team of all time because they shut down the highflying 84 dolphins offense, and they bet the killer bees. The 85 bears bet the 85 patriots who lost 5 games going into that superbowls, and the 84 49ers beat the 84 bears in the championship game. Just one season removed from the 85 season. The 72 dolphins ran the ball alot, they never passed as much that means less turnovers and we all know the more u turn the ball over the more u lose the game. The 72 redskins lost 3 games. Forgot to mention that the 84 49ers had almost no names when they won that superbowl.
Miami Dolphins Was Member AFC East Division From 1970 To 1993 And San Francisco 49ers Was Member NFC West Division From 1970 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading
What a break for the Dolphins in this game---this was the last time you could play the Niners WITH NO JERRY RICE. Rice was Drafted after this game was played in time for the '85 season. Plus, Miami went out to San Fran and beat them in the '83 Reg. Season game. However, typical Marino---he had a Passer Rating 30 points higher in the Reg. Season game.
My first live TV Superbowl. In England aged 11 my ma knew I wanted to watch it but, with the time difference meaning it was on through the night and me having school in the morning, she took the portable aerial out of my black and white TV. I stayed up knowing I could get a semi watchable signal just from sticking my finger in the aerial socket. Thats commitment cos I must've had arm ache by the 2nd quarter 😂 The mystique around Marino and the Marks Brothers was powerful. I wanted em to win . Never mind. It was still a great game.
Weird not seeing AM calling the play by play here. He's just been so tied to MNF or SNF for sooo long (40 years), and I think of Gifford as a commentator at most. Never saw this game, I listened on the radio (probably Jack Buck on the call?). My dad never wanted to miss 60 Mins, so I was relegated to the radio...
Man, the biggest difference you can see is in the kicking and punting. That has changed immensely.

A 15 win team vs 14 win team is wild af

Dan Marino's 1984 MVP Season Will Always Be The Best
Give me the Vince Lombardi trophy

"inauguration '85...": just about where it all went wrong.
🤦🏼♂
#26 Tyler's block at 58:00 to spring Craig for the TD was epic.
Joe Montana, the original goat and the best throwing QB going at it. Fun to watch.
That's Marino ❤❤
I used to call myself a Niner fan. But now I'm a Joe Montana's 49ers fan. There will never be a Niner dynasty like the one Joe led.

Love it! Thank you for the awesome throwback games! Keep em coming!
Really thought that Dan Marino would be in more than 1 Superbowl
We all did
Marino came close a couple of times after this.
He was in Super Bowl 17 XVII against the Redskins
@Thelegend-lo6qf No
@@Thelegend-lo6qf That was David Woodley. Marino was drafted after that Super Bowl in 1983. Last pick in the first round.
Glad NFL finally uploaded this Super Bowl now all we need is Super Bowl 15, 16, 24

Awesome upload! The best Super Bowl matchup in history. Too bad the actual game didn't live up to the hype, but still amazing to see!
more commercials in this upload than in the original broadcast

The very first Super Bowl on ABC
And last
And the very first game that I consciously remember watching.
@@daoudak196 no it wasnt
And the very first Superbowl where the President of the United States did the ceremonial coin toss Via Satellite from the White House 🧑🏻🏛️📡🪙🏟️
Thank you for uploading this NFL. This was fun to watch.
I cried after that game 😢
The good old days.
This is one of those games you wish was shootout that was close. But the niners were such a superior squad.
I don’t know the touchdowns for Miami and San Francisco.
1984 49ers, best team ever!!!
Super bowl 19 in 1985 san Francisco vs Miami Dolphins
January 20, 1985
1:33:04 Best line ever by Don Meredith: "That person is not well."
Before 🏈🏆 LV and LVI this is the closest thing a home team won a 🏈🏆 in its back yard.
Don’t forget the Rams vs Steelers Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, LA almost won it too
Miami got manhandled at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball in this game.
That's because Bill Walsh changes the defense from a 4-3-4 type defense to a 4-1-6 type Nickle defense
A very painful game for us dolphin fans. And things haven’t been good since.
I thought they were better the next year, more balanced, but the Patriots had some weird special mojo in those AFC playoffs I still can’t understand.
@ oh I forgot about that!
I Did not know this Super Bowl matchup existed until now
they should keep records of these types of things
The first SB I remember watching
What a game!!
Bill Walsh's Masterpiece
*ANY* chance of uploading Super Bowl XVI too?
its a dame shame Roger Criag is not in the hall of Fame!! Montana the goat
Miami Dolphins Was Member AFC East Division From 1970 To 1993 And San Francisco 49ers Was Member NFC West Division From 1970 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading
Now Miami is in the NFC Central and San Francisco joined the Prince of Wales Conference.

As good as Marino was a majority of the time in the Reg. Season, he was bad a majority of the time in the playoffs.
Montana schooled Marino just like he schooled Elway and Esiason.
Ken Anderson was Montana's only worthy Super Bowl opponent of the four.

Aaaah... the old days. When the Super Bowl was 2 weeks of build up to the biggest blow out of the year.
I still don't get why offenses like the 49ers still had their receivers in a two point stance. It just looks odd by 1985.

Al Michael's didn't Join MNF until 1986 Dan Dierdorf Join 1987 with Frank Gifford. This was Frank Gifford, Don Meredith, Joe Theisman
Last time the dolphins were great
Don't forget the goat on the mic
That ain't the Dolphins logo.
And the following season, Joe will snap his leg, a-la Lawrence Taylor 💀💀
Theismann, not Montana,
classic🔥

Back when the NFC dominated Super Bowls
you forgot about the raiders dominating the redskins.
@@archangelmusic13 I meant the start of the NFC dominating until 1997
@@MoveInSilence36 and my comment still stands since the raiders dominated the eagles and the redskins in the 80's superbowls
