    It took me several weeks of daily practice to play chord tones on the downbeat, & non chord tones only(mostly) on the off beats.

      It can be tricky to get comfortable with it. Starting with just arpeggios/chord tones ideas and then just trying to 'fill in the gaps' helped me a lot when I was getting this down

      Thats why you practice chord tones in quarter notes first to make it an automatic thing
