Same thing happen to my Mondeo two years ago. Only difference is that i tried to open that lock too hard and it broke even more. I ordered new one from Ebay for 6,51€ and it fixed the problem.
Different break in mine: after 3x genuine ford items (1 installed in factory, 2 next by me) breaking at the end bits of the plastic "axis" that the moving part rotates on (the one where the ROUND spring is wrapped around and the one you're touching @7:45 mark), I decided to put a metal screw through the "axis". So basically I reinforced the plastic "axis" with a sort of metal rod. No more problems 10 years now.
As usual thank you very much for the useful video Craig! Question about MK3 petrol, I'm really having a strange situation here. I have recently replaced my old alternator with a brand new aftermarket one. I'm getting some strange readings. If I check the battery voltage it gives me reads between 14 to 13.8 when the engine is running. When I check bAT on the self-diagnostic it gives me completely different reads, when the engine is cold it shows 14.5 to 14.3 as engine temp goes up it shows lower voltage 13.5 and keeps getting lower and lower as I drive the car. With high electrical load e.g. with head lights, air con, audio ... Etc it drops further to 11.7 and stays at that level. Is that all normal ?😅 Or is there an issue there? I checked the battery again when the bAt shows 11.7, the battery was showing 13.8 V. Or is this what they call smart charge Would really be grateful if you could explain this. Cheers
I think you're just seeing differences caused by the aging wiring between the battery and the dash. Better to trust direct readings at the battery terminals. Sounds like the alternator is working fine. The decreasing voltage with warm-up is normal and the varying voltage yes is indicative that "smart charge" is working. Good stuff Craig , I appreciate your tips . The damper on my glovebox has been removed as well , didn`t even last a year. Do you perhaps have a different solution to the seat adjuster issue , where the plastic gear breaks? Those of us with these Mondeo mk3`s outside of Europe cannot get the brass kit economically 😒.
Hi, I'm your subscriber from Russia. I have some advice. In addition to the broken handle, the gas shock absorber inside the glove box, which is under the box, is not working. That's why it falls so sharply when you open it. I recommend replacing it and it will open smoothly...
@@CraigsDIY “been there and done that” but on mine it was one of the plastic pins on the sides of the handle that snapped off, and I fixed that by putting through a M4 machine screw and two years later all still going ok👍
The car shown is RHD - the situation is exactly mirrored for LHD cars (e.g. the latch is to the right of the handle, not the left).
Thanks Craig, I love these improv fixes.

Thank you the video, this will help many!!!
Nicely fixed, but I think it would be better to grind off the rest of the broken rod and then use a metric screw. But it's good if it works. 👍

Haven't had that problem sorry.
@njg190700 And what problem do you have with the seat adjustment?

Yes I've just disconnected it.
Hi please tell me what OBD do you use for Mondeo MK3. Thank you!
An old Vgate, I use Forscan so any device they recommend would be best (see their website).
Hey Craig
Can you tell us how many km or miles you do with a full tank of the mondeo ?
Thank you !!!
Could you have plastic welded the broken part together
If it wasn't strong enough as new was never going to hold together again.
How do I change the dashboard panel?Because i had an accident and the passenger side airbag blew
How can I get mondeo mk3 2004 parts online?
Best to leave a coat hanger in the car for when it breaks again 🙄
Ford security!

Just looked and a whole new lock is only $13 AUS on eBay👍
don't you need to unhook the damper before dropping the glovebox lid?
Good point. Mine is broken and disconnected.
