I love Gary's commentary. Keep him doing it xgames. He's getting better at recognizing grab tricks and other transition tricks. In a few years he'll be as informative as he is entertaining.
The majority opinion disagrees and he literally got multiple trick names wrong in the park and street competitions. He is unprofessional at best.
Minus the stupid jokes he made about the skater’s appearances, that only HE laughed at (creepy). His partner never even acknowledged it because it was so unprofessional. Gary does sound like an affirmative action hire tho to be fair.

The stuttering of the video is almost as terrible as Gary Rogers’ commentary.
One thing I'm loving seeing in Skateboarding today the competitors as they grew up their tricks grew up too, so the sky is the limit ❤sk8
i mean, the judges obviously dont like jaeger as much as i dont like him, but dont rob the man. That was easily a medal contention run. You can dislike the skater without disrespecting the skating.
He didn’t work the park. Nuts tricks though especially the switch front ollie. Better use and faster skateboarding.
that was like a different kind of insane. showing how he understands his tricks and how to do them switch and everything.
Kierran and Gavin were going so buck, you can feel how bad Gavin wants it through the years, also with each birthday how much better he gets, would've loved to see Liam put that last trick down
Gavins got a better bag of tricks, both insanely talented skaters.
Kierran hands down winner absolute power lines! Gavin is also unbelievably good! Kierran has that Chris Russel power style and Gavin rides like a tech Hewitt!

I think since jaggers run looked kind of like a snooze fest (compared to the top 4 at least) they judged it like that, even know all those tricks are crazy hard even if they don’t look it

My analysis after watching this....
1) I've been watching all these guys skate for years and I feel like they always underscore Tate Carew. His runs are super tech and smooth.
2) I wish Sorge would put back on the helmet and knee pads like try hard like he did when he was younger. He still rips, but it seems like he's not motivated to progress anymore.
3) Gary Rogers is a cool dude but he's not qualified to analyze a park event. Replace him with someone who knows what they're talking about like Tony Hawk, Christian Hosoi or Amelia Brodka.
4) I really wanted to see Keegan Palmer put it together. His runs in practice were mind-blowing.

I truly love Gary but he's not a good commentator. We are watching this because we want to see the best skaters in the world. While he went off on a tangent about
Destiny's Child, Jagger did a 360 ollie over the box, back nose blunt, huge ollie to fakie, and a switch backside ollie. The focus should be on the skaters not the commentators.
I feel like he brings life to commentary. There's nobody else that's a commentator with the energy like him
I don't mind Gary. I'd prefer a Hawk 100x of course. I wish Gary would lay off talking about the skaters' appearance. I've watched a ton of these and I'm not sure Gavin needs to be reminded over and over again that he's small.
I feel like they both did it though, Gary would be talking about the tricks and Brandon is still going through a full back story even after the run is done not talking about the tricks you're literally watching at the same time or Brandon kept going on about the bday and Garys trying to talk about the amazing run that's unfolding, Garys not as smooth yet as other veteran commentators but they both had odd moments

Half the comps from 2022 have this issue. Kind of unfortunate they never address that there's an issue.

Jagger did switch backside air & switch frontside air first run. Trick on every wall. Multiple blunt variations. Kickflip to fakie at the end with the most height. Do these judges know what skating even is?!?

He stayed in 4th at 44:50 because he didn't go for it at the end. Deciding to not do a final trick said he came for 3rd place not for gold, and I think judges sunk him for that.

Gary is unbelievable. How is he still announcing when he’s constantly making fun of competitors while they’re skating. He called Kevin Hoeffler fat, he made fun of Dashawn Jordan calling him “bowlegged Dawshan”, and now just made fun of Tate Carew talking about him having thin lips and made fun of Keegan Palmer too!!!! X games what are you doing here?!!!

Skatepark is cool and all, but in recent years it’s become more akin to “skateboard bowls”

I know lots of you guys hate Garys commentary but its definitely not as bad as it used to be. Hes holding back quite a bit and is doing way better than his first commentaries. At this point you either f/w him or you dont.
I agree that he's done better this time around, but he's still not on a professional level. He could learn a lot from Pastras, Cole, and Rowley.
@@ShouldHaveBeen well yeah I don't think he will ever be professional on that level, just isn't him but Jesus his first commentaries I actually had to mute because he was saying anything and everything that came to mind.
@@Pozzy I don't like to count anyone out. I like to think everyone has the potential, even Gary. I think it says a lot that he's put in noticeable work to do better. I don't like Graham, Zitzer, or Cannon either though, so they would have to clean house to get a good commentating team.

There were times where he called tricks 360, or even 540, and the trick was just alley ooped. Alley oops don't add another 180°. It is obvious that Gary is not as up on transition, as he is street skating, probably because he does not skate it (other than small mini ramps). There are better people out there who they can get for the broadcast, who understand the tricks nd have an ability to be engaging and impart to the audience the level of skating they are seeing.
@@thethe-nt1tb I’d rather have a funny and relatable commentator like Gary then the SLS commentators who are boring. I know all the tricks even without anyone saying them. If you need someone to tell you what the trick is, you shouldn’t be watching

Gary Rogers is by far the worst commentator I've ever heard on skateboard competitions. I'm including in this comparison the old 80's broadcasts where the commentators barely even know what a skateboard was. Watching this with the sound off is WAY better.

@@lamambas9390 You didn't watch the last vans park series huh? What about the competition Pedro hosted in Brazil? So you are just saying things that are untrue without doing the research? Those "grandpas" are still better than these thumbsuckers (not saying that they are bad by any means.) There is a good cross section of transition skaters that aren't represented, but you probably wouldn't know that. Show some respect and know your place, child.

Gary Rogers needs to be removed from commentating. How did this dude ever become a commentator in the first place. I agree, commentating could definitely be turned up a notch with clever humor and entertainment, but this guy is off key with his vibe. Brandon Graham is fantastic and you can see him literally cringe at half of Gary's comments. Please consider moving Gary to another position. Commentating is not his strong suit!
