I personally got into them through "Bat Country" on the EA NHL Sountrack (back when the games were actually good), and initially I HATED the song. Fast Forward and A7X became the first band I was really into in a long time that actually sang and didn't scream/growl all the time. Still one of my most listened bands to this day, and apart from The Self-Titled and Nightmare it always took me a while to get into their albums, but I loved them even more afterwards. HTTK was such a disappointment to me I remember. I wanted fast paced songs, crazy drumming and guitars. Years later I love these songs for driving like a maniac virtually xD
@@neneargueta8332 I'm being a bit nitpicky here but Carrion is by Kevin Sherwood and is the Tranzit easter egg song, Carry On is the one by Avenged and was made for one of the endings of the campaign.
just hearing Matt speak blinks name is such a collision of worlds for me, grew up loving both these bands (blink specifically) but ahh man, this interview just brings a tear to my eye
I remember beating Black Ops 2 and then having to triple take because I had no idea A7X was going to appear at the end of the game, I was so confused and excited.
it was around the Nightmare album release that I got my first drumset in the house and I loved learning the songs on that album, Waking the Fallen and Not Ready to Die. I am excited to hear the new album and the next chapter
I’ve never watched and M. Shadows interview but this guy is super chill! It’s funny how everyone used to say metal is satanic and all that but you have guys like M. Shadows and James Hetfield who are class acts. Most of the pop and rap artists are elitist snobs
I remember the day hearing venged on cod I was mind blown, as an OG supporter since sounding the seventh it’s crazy how much Matt is involved with gaming
I bump Not Ready to Die all the time. I’m glad it was included in the menu music for zombies in black ops 3. Same with Nightmare and Shepherd of Fire. I’m glad those were Easter egg songs as well
I still want a City of Evil inspired map in zombies with all the band members as playable characters and fight against the Deathbat man or the spaceman, even the grim reaper.
Man i remember seeing you in 2008 and in 2009 up in Lubbock, Texas lol you were shaved bald and had muscles out the ass WILD times Matt lol it looks like you've chilled out a bit but glad to hear you're also cool as hell in what you do in your spare time. I hope your son knows how cool of a dad he has
Rock band 2, guitar hero, nfsmw 2005, black ops 1, 2, nfs prostreet, even at NHL games, their music is played. I've been a fan since middle school. I'm 22 right now.
City of evil was their last great album. A couple singles here and there but nothing compares to the absolute complete albums that led upto the release of city of evil. Its almost like shattered by broken dreams was foreshadowing the REV.
1000% agree. Sounding the seventh trumpet, waking the fallen and city of evil are what made A7x. Since jimmy its been experiment after experiment. If they truly cant do the range they use to have then they are just another rock band now. Shattered by broken dreams is still one of my favorite songs but man city of evil just flows from start to finish so smoothly.
@@joshuastrauss328 i still love them but i cant enjoy their songs like i used to now,,on top of that,,m shadows voice problems also contributed a bit to downfall,,
How cool he loved the Doc as well.... sweet ! Must check some of their songs. I remember back in the day one of the "Burnout" Games had one of the best Alternative Rock Soundtracks ever, we played that shit to death. Games and Music are in harmony.
blinded in chains did it for me when i was idk 4 maybe? (2004) idk i was just mindlessly playing nfs mw and listening to mastodoon bfmv and avenged just made me love metal more and more
I remember playing Most Wanted 05 and i listened to Blinded In Chains and man i turned off everything but Blinded In Chain’s and listened to it on repeat while racing just a core memory for me. I then remember my family getting a PS3 with black op’s 2 and when i beat the campaign i heard Carry On and i would beat the campaign to just listen to it because it was sick Middle school me would jam out so hard!
The first time I heard avenged was playing BO2 origins when it first came out. That cinematic with shephard of fire playing was the coolest thing I had ever seen in my life at the time
Can’t ever forget ‘Chapter Four’ on NASCAR Thunder 2004 (2003’s game). Linkin Park was the biggest band on radio, and *everyone* I knew had a copy of American Idiot. Those were good times. I wish I were born ten years earlier so I could’ve seen AIC and Nirvana.
2:37 Man I wish more people in the entertainment industry felt this way about their IP. It almost feel like a requirement that you have little to no knowledge or passion about an IP in order to work on it now. ESPECIALLY when it comes to comics/comic book films, that’s where I’ve noticed it the most anyway.
Mad Hatter had a grunge aspect. Chris Cornell/STP ish. Carry On had a very 80's metal sound to it in some parts. Like Iron Maiden or something. Great band
its crazy to hear that people from cod actually said something like "we want actual people who enjoy the game to make the music." as apposed to now their like "music? in our game? How can we turn that into microtransactions?" oh how they have fallen from grace.
I would always always always triggered the Easter Eggs for their tracks in the zombies maps, and jam the faq out. Origins is still the best map, so cool.
Not Ready To Die is one of their best songs in my opinion. They didn't have to go half as hard as they did, but I'm glad they did it.
Save Me

I'd like this comment but it's at 115
@@borgur1252 wow that's rad 🤘
It's amazing, but The Stage is probably my favourite song right now.
Need for speed most wanted was the OG stuff with Blinded in Chains. The highlight of my life and got me into metal!
Also almost easy from pro street
Underground off ps2 is the OG
I’m Disappointed in Myself that I didn’t notice that Song before I got into Avenged Sevenfold. It doesn’t matter though, it’s Fine.
It was the Burnout Series that did it for me, great Alt/Metal/Rock compilations that didn't get boring.
I personally got into them through "Bat Country" on the EA NHL Sountrack (back when the games were actually good), and initially I HATED the song. Not ready to die on black ops zombies was a absolute gem.
Its one of my favorite games of all time. Specifically the zombies mode. And it showed me my first glimpse of my now favorite band
Carrion in black ops 2 was cool too, as well as mad hatter in black ops 4.

Their best song by far both lyrically and musically is Save Me. That song is a pure MASTERPIECE.
They have s lot of underrated songs, it's hard to choose.
“If you'd only open your mind
Then someday you will find” --Best part of that song :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way
that's cool he's friends with Doc , Doc's the most entertaining streamer out there .
They have to play “mad hatter” and “not ready to die” live someday!

My first Avenged Sevenfold song was Blinded in Chains from the PS2 version of MW2005, my 10 year old self was like "woah this is a nice song"
yeah me too
Playing beast and the harlot on guitar hero 2 made me love this band
We gotta find clips of m shadows talking shit to people in cod lobby’s
It’s good to hear him talk about Doc, again best streamer to date in my opinion
when he rages :)) very depressing blaming games over his own style of play
This is awesome! I love hearing stories about the history of our studio and Avenged Sevenfold. Mark and Vahn are amazing people!👍
I wonder what Matt thinks about Dr Disrespect now after the controversy.
What a badass dude. Always loved M. Shadows, just seems so genuine and humble.

M Shadows needs to be in Black Ops 5.
Wasn't Cold War technically the 5th one? Wouldn't it be 6? idk
The first A7X song I ever heard was beast and the harlot way back on guitar hero 2 for the ps2. That had to have been at least 15+ years ago now 😅
“Avenged Sevenfold vs Dr Disrespect” 2016
If it wasn’t for Black Ops 2 Zombies Origins map then I would have never heard of this band. I love Shepherd of Fire.
I feel like Call of Duty should've given them a zombies story with the guitars being wonder weapons or something 🤣
