    I love the Eachine edf jets. They are the only ones I really trust to fly. Especially on a 4s 2200 mah lipo. I love the F-18 the best but prop jet ( F-16 ) we have been my best conversion to propeller 🎉

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are fantastic and I hope they come out with many more.
      I'm so glad they also offer a kit version of their EDF Jets as it makes it much easier to make them high performance.
      These EDF Jet Kits make for some great high performance Parkjets with a pusher motor and prop ;-)

    Still have and fly my Arrows Viper 50, all banged up after 2 years (my fault) but l love that plane. My Eachine F-16 and F-18s ready to build, still in the box, hopefully finish and fly this week.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      That Viper is a very nice EDF Jet and I have no complaints.
      I'm curious for those that have the Eachine F16 and F18 which they see as the better airframe.
      I'd like to pull the trigger on the F18 Kit but I just don't know if I'll have the time to dedicate to it.
      Good luck on your build and Maiden Flights.
      Let me know what you think of those.

    Great info. I bought a f16 kit version and put in FMS 50mm fan. As you said barely adequate. My maiden landing, got too slow and the nose resembles an accordion. Should have took the time to reinforce as you recommended. The Viper is a keeper, however. I avoided those vintage jets after your reviews. They just looked so cool. Thanks again for your info

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James and Thank You!
      Oh yeah, I've had some very bad launches and landing with mine ;-)
      It is a shame those vintage planes just don't seem to fly as well as they certainly are cool looking.
      I had very high hopes for the T33 and F86.

      Yes, I search aliexpress periodically as they have some nice EDF Kits, including the Blaze and Astro, but to ship to the USA they want more than what they charge for the Kit.
      Perhaps if you live outside the USA the shipping will be reasonable.
      Maybe in the future they'll put a warehouse in the USA.
      I don't know if Zeta Science made any other EDF Jet Kits but the Blaze and Astro are awesome ;-)

    Excellent video with very valuable lessons learned prior to my first EDF purchase. It's confirmed my thoughts that the viper 50mm would be a suitable budget conscious choice . But will heed your caution of just slapping 4s in it without upgrading the esc (as all others seem to do). I'm intrigued by your viper u-carriage skids. Are there any resources you could point me to covering that please ? Many thanks. Phil (UK)

      Yes, that Viper is a very nice flying Jet.
      I did produce a video explaining a couple of different landing skid system I've fabricated that have worked out well.

    The T-33 with it's straight wing should have been the best flying. If better-designed and with more power it may very well have been.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, but it was a hand full ;-)
      The only one of these that has any dihedral is the Viper, although they're all swept wings.
      I've seen some scale T33s that flew very well but you never know what MODs they've made.
      I'm 0-2 on the older design airframes.

      I use different material depending on the plane and what I have on hand.

    Arrows viper 50mm is possibly the best edf period. Ive had hundreds of flights on mine and there's simply nothing to compete. 70mm 80mm and 64mm... nothing when it comes to control fun and bang for the buck.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Arrows Viper is definitely a keeper ;-)
      I'm going to try to get some flights on it tomorrow weather permitting.
      Are you running the Viper on 4S?
      I changed out the ESC on mine and on 4S it's awesome!

      @@GroundControlRC i run either a 4s 2700mAh or 2200mAh and its as good as it gets. I run full rates on the elevator and 50% on ailerons and it is stable. If you need to see, i record all my flights. 4s will peak at 83mph
      Just an amazing flying edf. I crashed my BAE-Hawk from arrows because of a gnat flying in my eye.. so i purchased the viper as an alternative.
      No vector.. no worries, it flys amazing... worth every penny at 150 delivered
      I just upgraded my esc to a spektrum so i could get voltage alerts. Viper 50mm has taken our airfield by storm because of the durability to survive a midair collision, and rough landings..
      Edit** i also runthe battery all the way back as far back as it can go to get the best elevator control..

      @@redwineisfine Yes, 4S is the way to go!
      I'm at high altitude so I like the feel of my 4S 1600mah. My 4S 1800mah works well but feels just a bit heavy.
      I wish I had an opportunity to fly this at a much lower altitude as I would definitely put a 4S 200mah in it.
      It doesn't need a gyro but I'll put one in eventually just to have a parachute button ;-)
      I don't want any planes that need a gyro.
