In my day a 14 second car was considered damn quick and this video confirms that fact. I got my drivers license in 1982, my older brother and my cousins had some of these classic muscle cars. When l was about 12 my cousin Clint took me for a thrill ride in a '67 GTO and I've been a car guy ever since.
Thank you for posting this and sharing!! Look at the times John Chaimberlan put down in that red GS Buick = 12:58 and 12:47 and 12:60 wow that is a stout Buick GS!!!!!
@@lemon7039 oh yeah i realize that lol.. wish i can turn the clock back and buy at least 10 new GNs not to mention some of those old muscle cars used cheap lol
A time when high 13s were considered fast in the pure stock class . I can’t believe many of the muscle cars in the pure stock class were in the high 14s low 15s. Really slow .GNs times were all over the place. Times have really changed. Still cool to watch these muscle cars run though.
Around that same time The Speed Shop in Covington, Ga had a muscle car shootout and Gene Rivers ran his R/T vs my friends 1970 GTO. That GTO was over a 1/2 second faster than that 440.
Awesome thanks for sharing this!!!!!!

This deserves WAY more views. Huge differences between what magazines claimed they could run and what the average owners actually could do.imho

50 years from now, 9 second times will be considered slow.
Just think If these stock people had the money to put in their cars.!!
It matters how you clock the times. Many 0-60 and 1/4 miles allow for roll out.
Hope that guy still has the boss 429
