It was SO cool to see the old-school Cylons & Raiders in this episode...It's really too bad that SyFy was too short sighted to make BSG - Blood & Chrome a full on series! It would have been...Glorious!

yeah. it was such a shame how lee just sacrificed the ship with no reason...i mean that thing took out a whole basestar with its first volley. you cant tell me that the ship couldn't have swapped to the other basestars and made it out with galactic alive.
i mean in the long run I get why the writers decided to get rid of pegasus, bc in the end it would have been too much power in certain battles. just imagine the havog the pegasus could have brought to the cylons in the ionic nebula giving full defense fire like she does in razor at one point.
@@AzraelGFG IRL, they didn't have the budget or space to keep the Pegasus's set pieces since they had to do the Basestar interiors (though you do see its bridge, minus the glass doors, during the Valkyrie flashbacks). So they had to get rid of it somehow, and cinematically speaking, it was a beautiful death even if it was tactically questionable.
I love me some eye candy.

i am a 80s kid and this was so cleverly done.. Mind Blown
....the ONLY thing i wish was for the rescue scene at 3:00...was to see actors wearing oldschool Cylon costumes for thr firefight! It would have been epic to see. The CGI just feels too fake

The New Series Models were big and intimidating, but the OG had sass and cool voices. I hope the re-make of the remake is somewhere between the two!

I haven't seen it for a while, but there was a video for the "Washed-up Sci-Fi Villain Talent Agency" that featured a crusty woman who was finding these guys jobs.
As she was describing a birthday party gig to a vintage Cylon, he kept repeating "exterminate" until she told him that there was free food and the gig paid $150. Then he changed his tune and said "By your command ".
I had a flashback because of this.
This was great to see old school cylons.

So much for being Stealthy. Starbuck's yelling got the attention of the Cylons. THey might have retrieved the civvies without being caught if she had stayed cool.
This is the kinda bsg they should be showing, deadlock timeline... that would be good as a show.. the part in razor here, where they were like "by your command" that made me smile.. nice nod to the original..
Honestly, if they were going to do a pre-RDM BSG show, I really hope it'd follow the events of Deadlock. Maybe have it focus on things going on outside of Daidalos and Colonial Fleet during that time.

I always wished we got to see more of those classic styled Cylons, I also wish they would have given more detail as to where these guys fit into the Cylon society/command structure. They can speak and seem to be fully sapient unlike the mute and essentially lobotomized modern Centurions, were they okay with the enslavement of their modern brethren? Were they viewed as some kind of second-class citizens or obsolete models by the humanoid Cylons or treated with the same respect they would each other? If you take Caprica into account each of those old-school Cylons are probably a somewhat unique being how did they feel being in mechanical bodies while others had flesh and blood? A lot of questions that will never be answered...
Maybe they were restricted too by some way. Some chip which would prevent them to go against humanoid cylons. They would never accept that some "humanoid" is ordering them.
If I remember these old school ones are a fringe group and have nothing to do with the main cylon force
From what I saw it seemed more like they were fugitives doing their own thing independently of the main Cylon society after developing the first hybrids at the tail end of the first Cylon War. I dont think they are explicitly being hunted down though, not by the other Cylons anyway, they just went their own way.
Obviously that doesnt account for classic Centurions on the Colony in the finale though.
BSG Deadlock (the prequel video game) establishes these Cylons are fully sentient and reasoning beings. They have a command hierarchy, leaders (loosely based on the original show IL models), internal politics etc (a three-way power struggle between the Cylon leaders Clothos, Lachesis and Atropos basically distracts the Cylons and gives the Colonials the breathing room they need to fight back). It's only after the Final Five show up and build the Cavill model, who overthrows the Five and then starts reducing the intelligence and free will of the mechanical models, that the mechanoid Cylons fade in importance, at least until Season 4 of the reboot when they regain their free will.
From Season 4, episode 22? This isn't season 4, this is the TV movie Razor.

You guys noticed that the centurions on that ship were like updated classic cylons because if you look at their head/helmet or better known as a “toaster” you can see there’s like a second layer of metal like a Darth Vader look to it. I don’t know what that part of the armor is called but I know it’s typically a part of traditional Japanese samurai helmets. Just a cool little detail I noticed 😂 Update: I think the part is called the shikoro I’m not 100% sure.
Tip: Look closely at the Cylon helmets at the beginning with out the shikoro (still don’t know if that’s what it’s called or not) those are the classic designs from tos then look at the Cylon helmets on board the base star if you put them side by side you will notice the difference
the issue I see in this episode-how did they plan on getting the crew back on with no Raptor?....or extra space suits.
Probably by stealing some Raiders since they're the "manned" versions rather than the living variant.
They had the stolen Raptor on board the Baseship.
@@IvanKinkle that makes sense.....so instead of showing them escaping, thus having us wonder about it, they just zoomed in on Kendra, who intimidated the male hybrid, by nuking the ship/colony.

The Guardian Basestar appeared in Razor before it was put in Deadlock, but yes, it is.

So for clarity’s sake, the evolution of the Basetar goes as follows;
Mk1 Basestar (the classic two disks together, bunch’s guns and some missiles)
Argos Basestar (starting to go from the disk shape to the 3 pointed stars, experimenting with missile only armament)
Cratus Basestar (Takes the damage tank factor of the Mk1 and the ordinance advancements of the Argos, but keeps more conventional weaponry to adapt to changing tactics in the 1st war)
Guardian Basestar (Experimentation of organic hybrid technology in a frame similar to the Cratus, likely returning to the missile only style of armament implemented by the Argos)
Modern Basestar (full hybrid tech integration and fully leans into missile ordinance)

Why do they suddenly have 70s style Cylons circulating again?
This was a rogue group that separated from the main Cylon civilization at the end of the First War (Back when Cylons were more or less identical to the Original Series 1978 models lol)

They never truly disappeared. You see them during the attack on the Colony and there's supposedly a few guarding every Basestar's hybrid (though we never see those), which makes sense given how much tougher they are than their modern counterparts. We even get to see OG Raiders during one of the interior shots of the Colony, showing how old the facility really is.
Good thing they brought a nuke, it can be a 'dry heat' kinda mission. 😂

Honestly the CGI of the Cylons really don’t age well, they really should have just used practical suits, just look at Doctor Who and the cybermen that was running at the same time and they were basically one off villains

Should have used costumed Centurions. Those CGI versions look fake as hell...
I know this is just a show and I should shut up, but I never could get over how they didn't take advantage of the tactical surprise their FTLs are capable of. Wasting a Raptor like this seems stupid when you could jump out right next to the enemy ship and board. Or alternatively, jump a Battlestar out right beneath a target and launch a volley of nukes into it immediately to disable it.
You're assuming the FTL is accurate enough to do that. Worst case, think bug on a windwshield...the classic Han Solo line about a different type of FTL jumping comes to mind...

@@callmeishmael2415, It spanned Pegasus' story from the attack on the Colonies through after the time of Cain's assassination, with a little bit of flashback to the First Cylon War sprinkled in as well. Very good stuff, IMO.
The CGI Cylons look like garbage. The CGI Raider design looks like trash. Nothing can beat the original Cylon Centurians, Raiders, BaseStars, or IL-Series Cylons.
Question of taste ... Much prefer modern Centurions and raiders.

The New BSG never really felt a good as the original to me. The effects were better, but the story well, I always felt it was just Hollywood trying to use a beloved TV show as a vehicle for there crappy politics. This movie was a large part of that, which tried to show more of the nature of Kain and her side sick, which was the least reliability portrayal of a military officer ever! Kane would have been dead ten second after shooter her first officer, and this sycophant would have had her brains scatter all over wall by the Marine behind her after shooting the civilian.
Lets be honest the original was horrible, and to campy, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. The new BSG was much better and made more sense to me.
