    I used to do tje first method in my teen years all the time with my little sister, nobody taught me actually hahaha. And you know you can make tracing paper using printing paper and oil? Just paint the whole paper with oil, let it dry and voila! Home made tracing paper

    Thanks, brilliant. I am an adult who has not drawn since the prescriptive, technical drawing days in the '80s. I have wanted techniques for TRUE beginners, and using lines, or boxes, within which to frame the objects was suggested, to help with proportions, and constructing outline shapes. I didn't know how to replicate the boxes from the sketches I was copying, and thought tracing them would be a good idea - but then I didn't know how to that with out some sort of drawing tablet. This is ideal. So grateful.

      :) you are so sweet. And I totally relate to the fear of messing up a painting - even if you haven’t started yet. But like all things, painting is expression and look at it as a learning experience for you. You won’t ever learn or get better until you make lots of mistakes. Plus, I’ve always found ways to save watercolor paintings from complete “destruction” lol by getting creative with other mediums. It’s all in how you learn and I wish you all the creative flow and energy. Low stakes, high reward, queen bee!

      Hmm I don’t have experience with hairspray but you can try rolling a kneaded eraser over the drawing to lighten the lines so it won’t bleed. Or you can try using colored pencil

    Will a lot of charcoal get on the water color paper( in the background, not the lines) and will it be hard to get off?

    • @TheBuzzedArtist
      @TheBuzzedArtist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of it can, which is why you’ll want to use a kneaded eraser to grab any excess off before painting with watercolor. If you’re planning on painting with acrylic, another idea would be to use a fixative on top of the charcoal before painting.

    I see you're transferring your drawing onto another piece of paper. I'm curious what the outcome would be with an oil canvas; a surface that's much rougher than course paper. Would the transfer successfully move over finer lines and details, do you think?

    • @TheBuzzedArtist
      @TheBuzzedArtist  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do this with paper and canvas - even on acrylic coated canvas, and it works great. Not sure about oil but I would imagine it would work well

    Tracing really isn't cheating ,a drawing without values highlight and shadow is simply an outline, to attain dimension technique is necessary , technique brings dimension ,
    in turn realism each to their own.

    • @TheBuzzedArtist
      @TheBuzzedArtist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe there is truth to that, to a certain extent. If you have the drawing skills but short on time, tracing is an option. If you’re still learning to draw and using tracing as a crutch, I think it inhibits learning in the long term. I see it more as a time-saving tool, especially since (like you mentioned), there is so much more to add after the tracing happens. :)
