It got to the point that he almost died at least once because of his alcoholism, and decided to quit drinking completely as a result. He's now doing a LOT better due to that decision. Pretty sure this song is about that time he couldn't perform and Philip Labonte of All That Remains covered so they wouldn't have to cancel the show...

He passed out in his kitchen one day and woke up surrounded by EMTs and his daughter, who called 911 and basically saved his life. Ivan has said he saw some crazy shit while he was out too. He pretty much died and was brought back. This song/video is pretty deep and personal for him.
