I really appreciate this breakdown. This channel is so good at making these guides easy to follow, it’s been very helpful for switching my dog to raw. I started very slowly supplementing only a few months ago (after our vet approved, saying kibble has gone down in quality of the years and as long as we handle/source our ingredients safely, she thinks its a good idea). Now we’re kibble-free, and I can already tell it was completely worth the hassle of sourcing ingredients and coming up with a nutrient guide and meal prepping schedule. This is definitely an endeavor to begin with, but it gets much easier as you learn more, and this channel is one of the best tools for that!

I'm transitioning my puppy from kibble to raw so I'm trying to juggle between the different ratios required for puppies as well as trying to work out what minerals are missing. I'm sure if I watch this video a few more times it will become a little clearer but if I'm feeding her mainly chicken (breast/wing and leg) pork loin with chicken heart/livers, where does an egg fit into this and what else am I missing? Like I say, a few more viewings will probably clear that up. Lots of info there so keep up the great work!

    • @theredvelvetwitch

you're going to want more organs in that diet, and some meat variety. I have cats, but I've found that checking your local farmer's market, asain market, and even the meat section of the grocery store can carry what you need. I would feed gizzards if you can find them, and switching to beef liver if you can. I would recommend introducing your puppy to red meats like beef, and you can just crack an egg on top of the meal and she should lick it right up.

@@theredvelvetwitch Thanks RVW. She's now 15 months old and she's back on the raw diet after having a few months off trying to figure out an allergy (never did find out what was wrong but she's a lot better now but not 100%). I found a good online store and she has beef as her go to muscle meat with beef heart, tripe, kidney, liver as well as chicken sweetbreads, chicken wings, feet, mackerel, finely chopped seeds and kelp powder. Still haven't given her an egg, might do so today, I'm sure she'll love it, she loves everything else. 👍

It's 220 mcg of iodine per 1,000 kcal fed for puppies. You will need to do the math and adjust according to how many kcal you're feeding

Hello, thanks for the video, I have a black/white Maine coon kitten, and the black hair is turning brownish, I was reading online and it says it is Tyrosine deficiency. I found some powdered supplements, but I am not sure what is the dosage, also the Vet has no clue about this issue. If you could help it will be great. Currently I am feeding him only Raw food since the beginning, Chicken thighs, chicken hearts, liver, chicken feet bones, spinach, omega oil, little bit salt, and vitamine powder mix for cats.
