I love the personality. It is as it should be. As a note, though, according to 3.5e’s Lords of Madness, no Beholder believes that it is a Beholder itself, considering itself to be a separate creation and the avatar of the Great Mother herself. Calling it a Beholder would be seen, at best, as gross ignorance, and probably as a grave insult. The other Beholders are the actual Beholders, though they are abominable degenerate examples; proper Beholders would, of course, look just like the avatar of their goddess.
