He does it in such a way that they don't realise how ridiculous he is until they sit down and do the actual interview. And he makes them sign documents beforehand to protect him from legal issues. However, he has still had many lawsuits with people trying to sue him. The Pamela Anderson situation was a setup. She knew what was happening in advance and played along with it.
By telling people it's being filmed for Kazakhstan tv, people let their defenses down and say what they really think because they likely don't know where or what Kazakstan is. They figure it'll never be seen by anyone they know.

EVERY millenial as far as I'm concerned need to see actually VERY similar stuff done by Robin Williams and Yakov Smirnoff. Williams did the movie after a lovable, bad off character not unlike Borat to some level in his 'Moscow On The Hudson' AND Smirnoff's stand up routines ORIGINATED the joke logic of saying something cruelly-hilarious of the opposite detail example of "In Soviet Russia, TVs watch *_*YOU._** " ROFL!

I think it would be amazing if, one day, Sacha did a TV special where he meets up with all the people he pranked in these movies, and isn't in character. But I don't think it's likely. He values his privacy WAYYYY too much. He's in character from the moment he meets these people, 'till the moment they're gone. And in the last 20 years, he's done barely any interviews as himself. He doesn't even break character on movie sets when he fluffs a line. He just reacts to it as the character would.

I was a young teenager when this first was released. The one scene I've never forgotten is with the black guys. They are the only people who accept Borat for who he is. Well maybe the drunk road trippers later on too. But all the upperclass holes treat Borat like dirt.
Well the reality is the era of the 2000's that this was made in the Hollywood major studios were far more brave and adventurous to tread new ground rather than the era of today where so much including the Hollywood studio machine is afraid to do that in case causes somebody/ a group of people offence and complaints are made even though those very same complaints are mostly so petty and exaggerated. Alas for sure none of the big studios would touch this these days they would be too scared to. It is a telling thing for example that Borat the original one was released by 20th Century Fox, and yet the sequel all those years later which was roughly about a year/ 2 years ago - was released via Amazon.
Sacha also has 2 other troll characters he doops people with named Ali G. and Bruno…. He also has several different disguises in “Who is America”. It’s truly baffling what he can get people to do sometimes!

He's an actor that pushes far beyond the boundaries of most comedians/actors. Obviously it's not a real documentary but his goal is to make everyone feel as uncomfortable and angry as possible. GENIUS. This movie is elementary compared to some of his other work.
This is just a character he plays and it's all done candid camera style. They are all genuine people and reactions and that makes it hilarious. This guy (Sasha Baren Cohen) really has balls to do this stuff. But just remember the whole thing is just a comedy, and one of the first of its kind to be filmed like this.

Very funny movie Devin!! Well Borat is like News Reporter in his Country so the Media Officials there sent him here to make a film about USA life His TV Producer was the fat guy. This is a real scene from small Village in Kahzastan (Largest country in Central Asia)..not sure of spelling.. It was part of Soviet Union. Some things obviously made up for comedy. They really do things like have a horse pull old car believe it or not. Very funny movie Devin!! Well Borat is like News Reporter in his Country so the Media Officials there sent him here to make a film about USA life His TV Producer was the fat guy. This is a real scene from small Village in Kahzastan (Largest country in Central Asia)..not sure of spelling.. It was part of Soviet Union. Some things obviously made up for comedy. They really do things like have a horse pull old car believe it or not. I read somewhere that he had so many lawsuits filed against him here for all the stuff he did here, however not one was decided against him.
Well since your into comedy I'll say it again. Please do review of the ""Pink Panther" movies. They are really very funny. First one was '63 The Pink Panther, then '64 Shot in the Dark, then movie series continues in the 70's. All movies done with Peter Sellers, As Inspector Closeau are best. Do not do the ones which don't Star him. Well guy. I'll be watching..
Just want to let you know you are using the mic in a wrong way. You should flip it up so it's pointing up. And make sure the setting on the back is right. That's gonna make it sound 1000 times better.
