  • *Note: We start calling all our faculties and enthusiasts 'Creative'. The Creative has ranking level, from Bronze to Grandmaster (someone who named this likes Overwatch). Only the faculty will be ranked Grandmaster.
    This is an unconventional way to craft silver ring. As usually the method is reserve for crafting gold ring only just to save the weight. Usually for silver ring, the entire solid piece is preferred due to cheaper material cost. However, by making doing the piece this way, it is easier to be done by anyone.

    Did I hear a sigh at 4.08? I'm happy that I'm not the only one who feels a bit challenged sometimes. Nice work and thank you very much for the tutorial. It's so nice to see not only the perfect way but actually see the mistakes on the way.

    Instead of soldering another piece of metal to the one you want to duplicate, you can also use power glue, the one that glues your hands together the moment you touch it, and afterwards heat the pieces with the torch and it will completely burn off. Less solder, and less risk of not getting them apart after. Great ring btw!

    • @BangkokCreativeStudio
      @BangkokCreativeStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip!
      Yeah we do that for other pieces, this one we couldn't find the CA glue, so just kinda went for this primitive solder to hold for duplication.
      Thanks again!

    Love the video, and I'm not one to usually say anything but I thought it might be worth noting because of the extra sanding you had to do. Try taking longer strokers with your saw and angle it slightly forward. You will get more even straight lines and your blades will last longer 👍

    What a great tutorial. Just the ring that I want to make except that would to install a rectangular opaque stone on the flat top.
    Thank you. Please refer me to a video that teaches how to attach the stone and thanks again!

    • @BangkokCreativeStudio
      @BangkokCreativeStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! We havent done any of that yet.
      But the way to do it. Just follow this method of ring making. Then you have to cut the slot on the signet face to fit the stone size. Then attach the stone to the face with epoxy. This is difficult to get precise work though so you need to experiment a bit. Hope this helps!

      Bangkok Creative Studio Thank you. Sorry so long to reply, but I just found your posting! Will give it a try. Do you know if I haVe to buy the stone before I begin?

    • @BangkokCreativeStudio
      @BangkokCreativeStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you setting a flat top stone and you just want to give it a try first. Then you can just cut like a brass of copper sheet to the target stone size and learn the technique first. Same principle, just slight harder to work with. but instead of soldering you can use epoxy to set the metal sheet instead.

    Hey.i realy enjoy your videos so far.
    Just some tips again.
    As you said your sawing skills.
    I recommend using a smaler saw blade (more teeth) it seems you cut too fast therefor you dont have control over the saw.
    Try smaller saw blade and keep the saw in an angle instead of 90 ' with the work and try to draw your lines on a paper and using glue attach it the silver after that cut on the outside of the line and file it to size.
    On a full handmade ring like this you should use more tgan one king of solder (hard.med.easy) so the outher solder joints wont move.if you dont have those and got 1 kind of solder only try plaster.
    Same casting plaster .mold around the ring but leave the area you want to solder.
    Hope this was useful .
    Keep it up im sure you will get better as you go .😊

    • @BangkokCreativeStudio
      @BangkokCreativeStudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the tips!
      For the saw blade, I really hate sawing in general so I prefer bigger blade so I could get over it quickly haha. but I guess patience is the key.
      About the solder, I check with my faculty and he said the same thing about the solder (which didnt explain why he didnt give me the different solders at the first place!). He also recommend to use to fiberglass insulator to stuff inside the ring as well for easier when solder. Guess I have to try that out when I'm not shooting :).
      Thanks!

    Hi nice tutorial. I’m about to make a similar ring in a vertical rectangular shape with a flat onyx set into the top. Can you tell me how you measure and calculate the length of metal to ascertain the ring size please? Also i see you recommend using epoxy I have only ever used a setting without any glue so if you have any idea of how to make a bezel setting or four claw setting that would be helpful ;)

    • @BangkokCreativeStudio
      @BangkokCreativeStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ring size, you have to do this mathematically, best you draw the technical sketch first. then for the size area you just have to make sure when convert circumference to length correctly (it's generally 1:1 in that regard but nature of handmade you have to account for contingency for over/undersize.
      Bezel, if you are not the drilling and bluring them to dig up the slot for the stone, i recommend cutting the bezel 'frame' and add on top of the ring.
      Claw, add large prongs, then after you get the prongs, you can profile it to the claw shape you need. Easiest way of adding prongs is drilling holes and adding the rods.

      As an idea you can do it the other way around before bending it in the ballast, locate the center of the metal sheet and calculate the base of the rectangle you want and cut a groove at the ends and bend at 70 ° V like this figure and measure the size of the finger and the height of the finger with the base of the rectangle then cover at both ends and you get a finer ring in the finish. Regards
