      @@GentlemansJourney I’m a retired behavioral healthcare manager and find I don’t go out much anymore and so I don’t wear my boots enough. I have 2 pairs of Redwing Blacksmiths, Thursday Presidents, Thursday Dukes and Thursday Scouts. I also have a couple of Clark desert boots. Probably I have enough boots for now (so my wife thinks) so not eyeing any particular future pair.

    *I just used the cream for some light tan cowboy boots & they left them a little more darker than they were,..... idk if that's a normal thing or good thing, some people mind it but I really don't. So just a heads up on that, idk if there's a way to prevent that but hope someone could shed some light on that*

    I haven’t used the Cobblers Choice conditioner or cream. But my Cobblers Choice horsehair brushes are still shedding like crazy 3 months into use. I also bought two pairs of Cobblers Choice cedar boot trees. They’re nice enough, but all four of them are marked “Left” despite being the correct left/right trees in each pair. “I’m finding Cobblers Choice to be a company I can get behind”….well, good, but my two Cobblers Choice purchases have been unsatisfactory.

    Late to this one, but I’d love to hear how the Cobblers Choice compares with the Venetian Shoe Cream! Does one darken more/less? How do they compare for conditioning & weather resistance? Really enjoying learning from your videos :)

    • @GentlemansJourney
      @GentlemansJourney  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question and comparison! The cobblers choice oil version penetrates deeply and darkens at least one shade but in my experience it is not much and not long lasting color change. It dies not have great water protection in its own but that’s why they offer the waterproof spray. The wax option by cobblers choice darkens about the same as the oil, not much. It would be more water resistant as it contains all that wax. Both the oil and wax from cobblers choice are a bit dull or lackluster. Now on to the Venetian show cream, It is much more ready out the gate to protect from water. Though it is a liquid it has enough wax to build up quite nice protection, though is still recommend water protection spray in the winter months as a top layer. The main difference in terms of actual results is the shine that Venetian gives off. If you are going for a patina/vintage look I don’t think shine is the go but for a more dressier look I like that shine. I’m really not about consumerism on this channel but I’d say if you can afford a couple bottles it’s fun to try them out. Most don’t last for ever or alter the leather permanently so you can switch between a few and your boots are just fine. In the long run you may like Venetian on some leather and cobblers choice on another. Hope this helps mate! 🥾🥾

    How does this cream product compare to mink oil paste? Is cobblers choice a replacement to mink oil or do they each have their specific purpose(s)? Thanks

    • @GentlemansJourney
      @GentlemansJourney  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In general they both condition so certainly the same category and use but arguably way different results as well as leather type and boot style specific. Red Wing uses a lot of mink oil if you were to go in and get your boots conditioned. In general mink oil will darken the leather. Cobblers choice says it does not darken much and I have not seen it darken too much. Mink oil is great at waterproofing and also penetrates deeply.

    How do you compare these Cobbler’s choice products (cleaner, cream, and waterproofing spray) to the comparable Red Wing products (cleaner, cream, protector)? In particular, I liked that you observed the Red Wing leather cream not darkening the leather much.

    • @GentlemansJourney
      @GentlemansJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say the Cobblers Choice is a bit more penetrating and thus darkens a bit. However, for my style, I'd be ok running Cobbler's Choice on my Iron Rangers as I don't feel it would darken it much.
