    Just replaced the magnet valve thingie, the camshaft adjuster was fliush and moved back to the front when I pushed it in slightly.
    Thanks for the vid!
    Going for the vacuum pump and hpfp this weekend, bought a set for like 300$ from a German company that does revisions, came from a "new" engine.
    They old ones have 232k km's on them.

    Does anyone know if there are any screens like that one on the 2.0 tfsi ea113 BWE engine that I should remove too? I just bought a A4 B7, and the first thing I did was to change the oil, and clearly that made a lot of sludge come loose, because my oil pickup got clogged and I got a low oil pressure lamp, I just took out the oil pump today, and I gonna be putting it back together, but I see a lot of black/brown residue stuck to the pan, pump and engine wall, so I would like to know if there are screens and where to find them so I can remove them, or else I might have more issues

      start this video at 6:35 and then decide if you want that screen in your motor......th-cam.com/video/qpBnywFLwBQ/w-d-xo.html when the screen fails, depending where the pieces go, not only can it cause damage to the motor, it can keep oil from getting to your VVT causing hard starting, and can also prevent a full flow of oil getting to the oil pressure switch causing the low oil pressure light to go off and telling you to shut the motor off.

    • @NaptownTuner
      @NaptownTuner  ปีที่แล้ว

      If they did all that first I wouldn’t really trust them. It could be the balance shaft itself or the water pump. First the belt for the accessories should have come off and if the noise was still present after running the engine then that would have eliminated any accessories like the alternator

    I know I’ve seen a couple videos now of the oil screen in the intake side of the bridge on the control valve , Nap what is your take on it, are you saying to remove that screen? Audi is using it as an oil filter for a reason.. so I’m not sure why they’d design it to fail. Can you provide a link to the two tabbed valve removal tool? Also if I pull out the screen will it move the spring? Or is the best option to just upgrade to the new redesign of the cam bridge? I have ‘13 B8 is that updated? Wow another excellent tutorial best stuff on TH-cam

    • @sipthewater
      @sipthewater 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that Audi put it there because they think that sometimes new factory engines might have some manufacturing debris that needs to be caught but don't see any need for it after that. There's an oil filter for the engine.

    • @TwinTonyz
      @TwinTonyz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sipthewater I'm doing this job and the balance shafts and it's even more egregious in the balance shafts. I've no solid particles stuck in my balance shaft screens, only sludge which would have otherwise been caught by the oil filter. I have no concerns that tiny amount of sludge would get thinned out of the bearings, but since it got blocked by the screens, the balance shafts were oil starved and started to fail. I found the remnant of a balance shaft screen in my oil pickup tube, which tells me those bearings within have enough clearance to pass metal shavings just fine. Pulled every single screen outta the new shafts and cam-bridge. The car would be better without them.

      @@geeess958 Had to buy a few tools for the job. Buy the maintenance guide for your car. I never did a timing chain or anything before and I credit the guide for this turning out fine. The intake-side balance shaft connects to the coolant pump via an impossible to access 12mm bolt. I cut a socket short and welded that to some scrap metal to get that off. Otherwise gotta find a tool that will do it or separate the engine and trans.

      I just put a new crank sensor, cam sensor, timing chain kit, new magnet and vvt valve. The car started perfectly, but when I shut it off and restarted the problem came back right away. At 720 RPM idle it says the "Phase Position - Bank 1 intake is at 13.22" I think the spec is at +/- 2, and before I did the timing it was at a 9, so basically, I made it worse. I took the upper timing chain off and I am measuring that everything is perfectly timed. The cambridge was missing the screen, but had the brass retaining ring for it. Any thoughts? • @branstor
      @branstor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@readylucas what ended up being your issue

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@branstor i fixed the rattle first. Which was an old timing chain. Got a brand new chain/tensioners, balance shaft kit... low oil pressure persisted. Took off cambridge recently to find a screen blown out. The screen ate my cams which is what i think made the excess clearances in the engine. I have never heard a lower end knock. The pump and bearings are usually bathed in oil too. And i only had 150k miles. The screen is a very common failure. If you have code p0341. Check your vvt solenoid if its plunger is stuck out it is seized. If you find this remove the cambridge and inspect ends of cams and cambridge screen. If everything looks good put it back together, replace the solenoid and pull out the screen. If you have wear well you have found source of issue. Again dont assume your pump is bad or your bearings are bad. Its worth it to inspect the pump, but leave your engine block alone or save for last resort. Which basicslly means full rebuild.

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@branstor basically timing chain caused rattle, the screen that blew out caused damaged to cylinder head/cams= low oil pressure. Im never buying one of these cars again but im doing my best to fix this one. Removing valve cover soon. best answer is low oil pressure is caused by lots of things, but this screen is a common cause. just inspect cams, bridge, journals for wear. make a list of things that are worn and replace. if your head looks good there are lots of other things to cause low oil pressureand its back to ground zero. at that point its rebuilding the engine if u cant find any obvious flaws.

    • @readylucas
      @readylucas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@branstor update: my advice is inspect the oil pump first and pan for metal. Your pump should turn freely and not lock up. The pumps have a piston that seizes aswell. Another thing thats relatively easy is removing your cambridge and inspecting it for wear. In my case the screen popped out and ate up my cylinder head and cams causing low oil pressure. Replaced the vvt solenoid, cam ajuster magnet, and using 1 quart of lucas oil stabilizer til the engine blows. Dont have the money to repair so just gotta get by but if you wanted to do the repairs. Expect at least 4 digits just to have oil pressure properly diagnosed. Probably 1500 to have engine disassembled and more for parts. If you do it yourself you can get the tools for the cost of labor and beable to work on your car any time something goes wrong. Plenty of people completely rebuild their own cars and you dont need to go to school although its probably best to do so unless you have the discipline to do a LOT of self research, and carry a manual.
