This beautiful example was restored by Danut Crainiciuc in Romania. He is the world authority in R12 cars. Over the years he has owned a total of 60 R12 cars, he lives and breathes R12.
The R12 was restored in 2011 to the last detail, as the car would have looked in 1971.
The Renault is now covering about 1000 miles per year.
History:
The Renault 12 was launched in 1969 and even though production and sales ended in Western Europe in 1980, the model and derivatives continued to be produced and sold by Renault affiliates in other countries until 2004!
It was the first genuine ‘car of the world’, being exported globally with great success.
People loved it for its uncomplicated but deadly efficient mechanics, reliability, comfort but also lovely styling. The Renault 12 was a highly successful car, selling over 2.5 million units. Sadly, no more than 14 examples of the Renault 12 TL’s are on the road in Britain today (2013).

I grew up with this car. My dad had one back in Nigeria 🇳🇬. Great memories. 👍
my father was have got one of that in 1974 in red trinity colour was very good in his time completely functional a wonder of engenering car i always remembering even today thanks your video 👏

My 1st car. Mine was a white estate. It had 74k miles and rode like a Rolls Royce compared to my Dad's Austin Maxi at the time of the same age and mileage. I wish I had it now.
A few people know that our old Renault 12 - Dacia 1300 was drawn by the Italian design house Michelotti. The barracks was avant-garde and timeless at that time, the year of finalizing the summer 1968 project, which explains the longevity of the model not only in our country and the sale on five continents in many countries and over 6,5 million units to attention, in 2005 in various variants. The model enjoyed great success at its launch at the Paris - oct.1969 car show. The release delay the model for a year was attributed to the great labor and student strikes from 1968-1969 in France. In the top 3 "Car of the Year in Europe" - in 1970.

In argentina Theres one Around Every corner, most of them are Pretty smashed up and in shitty conditions, here classic cars are regular, because they are cheap and we cant afford new ones
This is almost exactly the same as my parents 1970 R12 TL (EUC476J) . Same colour, exept it had a brown vinyl interior and no side repeaters. Was the car in the video originally a UK model?
I like it my dad had a 1979 model in 1986.

Similar engine to the 1397cc unit in my old Volvo 345DL. I love the Cleon-Fonte engine.
Was used in Renault, Volvo and Dacia and few prototypes for Wartburg in the East Germany. Wonderful engine, so poweful but small.

Renault 12 in Brazil was made by Ford. Named Ford Corcel. Same mechanics other bodywork.
Most doesn't know there was in the early 1970ies the idea to make a treaty with the GDR in Berlin to deliver their brand Wartburg with Renault Motor of the R12. Even the manufactoring of the R12 in East-Germany was in talkings but then politicans decided to stop the cooperation. If it would had happened the number or R12 would have doupled.
