This and reusing locations make up the majority of Doctor Who, there probably isn’t a single place in Wales that hasn’t been invaded by the Doctor Who crew 3 or 4 times. I kinda like it though, it’s one of the little bits of hokiness, like running down corridors, and always being in quarries that make it that niche little British show we all love so much.
Can confirm, I've stumbled across Dr who filming by chance at Castell Coch (Robot of Sherwood), and they've used Dyffryn gardens more times than I can count
I love the editing of the whole Guardians of the Edge scene, especially if you know that Paul McGann and Peter Davison were filmed on seperate days and yet their bits fit so well with the rest of the actors. If someone ever meets one of the guys, you got to ask them if they were shown the other footage for reference, because matching the continuity that well is impressive if you're not using reference footage.
I noticed some of these and I always assumed they meant for you to notice the reuse of Rose calling for the Doctor because of… timey wimey as I figured it was the same moment being broadcast throughout time. Of course part of me wishes we got an explanation as the closest thing we saw was her trying to join the subwave network conference call.
Not reused footage but I just rewatched Let’s Kill Hitler and the bit with the TARDIS interface taking the appearance of past companions is so obviously Rose.png, Martha.png and Donna.png I love it
a notable reused footage was The War Games Episode 10, we see a shot of the TARDIS materializing in space as web covers the top, clear reuse from The Web of Fear, Episode 2's cliffhanger features a group of roman troops charging towards the main characters, which got reused in Episode 6
Another one to add is the 9th Doctor joining the other Doctors to save Gallifrey in the 50th Anniversary. “And for my next trick!” That’s from the series 1 finale when he’s materialising on the dalek spaceship. ☺️
The space station intro to Trial of a Time Lord showing the TARDIS being pulled on board being reused at the end of Mindwarp is literally depicting the exact same event. It's not a reused shot - it's a recap, explaining how we got to that original intro 8 episodes ago.
I've been in Downing St. I'm from Canada but was a bike messenger in London in 1998. I did a delivery there, but only got as far as the foyer...i didn't see a lift, but then again, I wasn't looking for one.
The worst reuse is in an iconic scene from army of ghosts/doomsday the sass battle between the daleks and cyberman after their back and forth after the daleks exterminates them you can see the cybermen fall just in front of the daleks surrounded by rubble which makes no sense. This shot is then used later on when they finally have an all out fight.
Surprised you didn't mention the one in The Star Beast. At the start of the episode, when Donna/14 are giving the recap speech they reuse a shot from the end of The Giggle of Rose Noble when 14 is having dinner with the Nobles.
You could also count the Tardis in the time vortex used in the intro's of the first 4 series. Cause not only were they reused for the intro to the episode, they were also sometimes used as a shot of the Tardis travelling in time
Reusing old footage is very common in TV where budget constraints force it. However, this does have the unintended side effect of making the show consistent in some ways. Also, there is at least one lift/elevator in Downing Street. When I worked there as a secretary, there were rumors of a secret lift in the PM's office that only they could use. One person said it led to a bunker under Downing St. Another said that it went down to a huge underground complex under London that was built during the Cold War. If there is a lift in the PM's office, it either leads to a panic room of some kind, or is just a quick way in and out of the office for emergencies. Personally, I don't think there is a lift at all. Downing Street is older than some countries, so one lift is just about all they could fit in there.
As a power rangers fan from the original 1993 run .. im not surprised Doctor Who re uses shots, it makes sense for budget reasons and in most cases doesn't rob us from the storyline.
There’s probably enough content to make another video of this in the future. I know the lift shot from Victory of the Daleks was reused for Night Terrors. If there’s not a whole second group of 10, give it time, there will be lol.
Because they deliberately reused old footage in the intention that it would be noticed. This list is specifically about reuses that are more subtle than that.
The Maldovarium: Do you see what we've done, folks? There was absolutely no reason to make such an issue of the pronunciation. But we made it necessary. No matter how she had pronounced it, someone would have claimed it was wrong. We add to their stress and then complain about how they make their videos when we could just let it go. This one's on us, the viewers.
@@tshelby5212 and it's a TV show. Does it matter? Is it worth making people feel bad over something that doesn't actually exist? You might consider lightening up.
I remember watching “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea “ in the sixties, it seemed almost every episode the Sea View would bounce of the same rock on the sea bottom. And every monster made the same sound
@@DrWhoFanJ with all do respect it is an easy mistake to make it’s not every day you remember one version of doctor who has series and another has seasons I just expected by using the name rose people knew what era I was referring to and it also helps that the companion in the thumbnail was rose which I presumed also helped realise which era I was making my claim in
@@DrWhoFanJ I will also make sure not to do that mistake in the near future however I wasn’t thinking at the time of it was series or season I was thinking more of what I was commenting about
Please do a new list of Doctor stories that couldn’t have worked with other Doctors. Not necessarily talking about the actors’ strengths, but the actual characters of each Doctor. Example; I couldn’t see anyone other than 9 in ‘Rose’ or’The Doctor Dances’, only 13 in ‘Rosa’; but I think a few could’ve done ‘Blink’ or ‘Nightmare in Silver’
Um.. what? I can’t fully understand your question. If you’re asking how she could have died as a time lord(technically only part) she was unable to regenerate at that point and even if she could have she told the Doctor if he did it he wouldn’t have been able to regenerate. My guess is it vaporizes the body or causes too much damage for regeneration to be possible.
Addditionally, we don't see River's body in Forest of the Dead (presumably because it would have been too graphic for the show's target demographic), so maybe she was completely vaporized.
Cool stuff, much thanks, but wasn’t there an opening ‘space to Earth’ Tardis fly-by shot that was notorious for being re-used? I thought it would be #1 is all.
Not just Dr Who! Back in the 1970s / 80s they had an exploding spaceship that was used several times in Dr Who, and when The Liberator exploded at the end of season 3 of Blakes 7.
Just think, if you lived in Chicago at the time when your favorite actress was on E/R you could have had an extra roll, like my sister’s kids, on the show, perhaps even with her. Just think, what shows now being shot in Chicago might include Who cast from the future???
I have been inside Downing Street and there is a lift inside, but it’s actually in number 9 not number 10, as both are joined to but have the facade of two houses

,,Oh look... Rocks!" - The exaitiment in Tom Bakes's voice is the funniest part.
So what!!!! It's a T.V. show. If all you have to do is trace re-used and stock footage don't expect people to come back for more useless babble.

If I recall correctly, Rose and Donna were promotional photos from series 4 and Martha was a promotional photo from series 3.
There were 3 intro scenes reused in Rose, Christmas invasion and the eleventh hour
+The end of time
1:26 it’s not reused footage, it may be footage from the same day but it is not the same footage as the lift in the background shows
4:30 £8,000 back then would be around £30,000 today - roughly 2K per second!
There's also the reused clip of 9 saying "And for my next trick..." in the 50th anniversary special
I assume everyone noticed it because it was such a commonly said thing
This was so interesting, really enjoyed this! Thanks Ellie and Who Culture! 😊😊

it is, from the now missing Fury from the Deep Episode 1

Yes, there is a lift at 10 Downing St. and yes I have been there

Because they deliberately reused old footage in the intention that it would be noticed. This list is specifically about reuses that are more subtle than that.
@@DrWhoFanJ It wasn't their intent for it to be noticed. Its just they obviously didn't have a way of getting new footage so they used old footage.
