Oh Rhi, I’m so glad to hear you had a good experience and finally have the answers you needed.
One point I picked up on that really resonated was the “am I wasting their time?” feeling. It’s really common due to the rejection sensitive dysphoria aspect of ADHD.
There was something else I was going to say but in typing this I’ve totally forgotten…ooh, I remembered…
Watch out for diagnosis grief. I know a few people, myself included, who suffered with it. It’s easily said but less easily done but try to see the future and the endless possibilities of your ADHD super power rather than thinking “what would life be like if I’d known 30 years ago?”
    Much love. You got this!

I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and Autism this year and I'm 51. I have four children, three with the sane diagnosis and one with just ADHD. I was so emotional when I found out about my diagnosis, I also worried that I was making it up and I was wasting people's time. However, I'm so glad that I did it, as there's a reason for my struggles, and I can give myself more grace.

Why is it that people have to fight to get an assessment done to diagnose autism. By the way you’re a wonderful mum and doing a wonderful job with all your children.❤❤❤

I think videos like this show the difference between a kid/adult with ADHD and a kid/adult who is just completely apathetic. Diagnosis for it, like everything else medically related in the US, has a cost that varies by state. I looked it up out of curiosity and it can vary hugely depending on where you live and what hospital or other facility you can access. It can be anything from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per person. If you have the right insurance, it's covered for both adults and children, diagnosis and treatment, but you have to jump through hoops of red tape in some cases.

Congratulations on your diagnosis, Rhi 🎉
I feel it does deserve a congrats because it is so stressful just initiating it, (what with the procrastination, the imposter syndrome, the rejection syndrome), let alone going through the appointments, tests and the assessment.
    You're doing amazing! 😍
You've helped me so much starting my own ADHD assessment journey. Even tracking my struggles/traits is a big thing for me 🤣 I relate to all your things; people pleaser, perfectionist. It's hard.
I hope you can give yourself oodles of kindness and grace and let the process, process(!) in your mind. And like another commenter posted, let any grief come out, honour those feelings 🙏🏼
    Much love, Beki x

It’s good for you to know, in depth with the questions not so much, advice to seek help absolutely, assessment should be open not pre warned if that makes sense. My niece is in the process of having to advocate for her daughter, luckily we have a headmistress in the family who can advise who to speak to., but it shouldn’t be like this. I hope this has given you some relief and understanding of you .

congrats on getting answers. Will you do more adhd vids now? I would love to know not only about organisation methods and how you get things done but then how you actually implement them and stick to it. I know every method going but ive yet to ever stick to something more than two weeks. Any tips!

Omg I am laughing (not at you) because you have some points that described me, the actor searching happens all the time and I can't settle until I know where I know them from and what else they've been in and who they are with. The interrupting is my hugest downfall, I'm meeting so people in DLP next month and I'm dreading how I will come across to people because of these traits. I too am going down the ADHD testing route as been referred by GP after two medical people suggested I do have it.

I know SO many women who tick all these boxes. I don’t know how I feel about this.. I feel like if we all get evaluated a large proportion of the population would be on the Autism spectrum or have some type of ADHD (or other psychiatric diagnosis). It also sounds like they base their diagnosis on what we answer exclusively? But the access to medication is a good thing (I think). It’s a psychiatric debilitating diagnosis, it’s considered a disability… The autism assessment sounds much more thorough and less likely to give a misdiagnosis. I feel like if everyone in the country would be screened it would become a new variant of normal. A type rather than a psychiatric disorder. I might be talking rubbish but I’m just thinking…

Autism and adhd is a neurological condition not a Psychiatric disorder
