- MONTEVIDEO, MN Andy Kahmann, the "A" in A to Z Letterpress and owner of the shop, likes to print the old-fashioned way: with hand-set type and a letterpress. He specializes in unique small-run printing. Andy works with many area artists to create calendars, posters, cards, and booklets - many designs incorporate artists' hand-cut linoleum or wood blocks. A to Z is one of the stops on the Meander, an annual art crawl on the upper Minnesota, as Andy explains. In this segment Barb Hawes, a volunteer, demonstrates typesetting and Andy explains the "kiss of letterpress" as they both work on the 2013 Meander calendar.

Nice video. I was in the printing business (letterpress and offset) for many years, and I always have a nice warm feeling when I see someone setting type and hand-feeding an old C&P. BTW, I've never seen a open press fly wheel running in that direction.
Amazing!
Yup I remember I had to make the ads for our store

You need to know that the metal frame is called a 'chase' when it's empty and becomes a 'forme' when filled with type and furniture etc.
Sois dichosos:

Nice workshop. As an apprentice I fed a Chandler and Price platen some of the time, finished up as a compositor. Your printing skills are good but you need some advice on typesetting, like how to hold the stick!
please let me know where is this place because i am uruguayan and I am very surprised Best regards
Is your shop still exists?
your C&P in the video is running backwards
