When the illusion starts, David (Mr. Copperfield) is a whole man, but once he separates the top half of his body and the bottom half of his body, he's beside himself, then at the end, after he reconnects his halves, he's a whole man again.
@tritonrocks A lot of people aren't into perpetual shaggin' you know. I'd say Davey Copperfield would be like "..auw man, not another shaggin' match?!" The the woman will be like "but you're Davey Copperfield! Don't you want to shag perpetually?!" And then Davey'd be like "You think these tricks invent themselves?! Gimma a break woman! My lad's red-raw for goodness sake..." etc etc...
@ThePaul1E I disagree. Both you and me obviously know that there's a structure inside his attire which allows him to "seperate" his body. But the people in the audience has to be in on it, or else it would ruin the trick. As for the editing; I didn't say that the editing is the solution, but it helps the illusion for those not there. See how "normal" he is right before and after this trick? He changed outfits 3 times.
dizevil I've seen the show done live and there no way to use camera tricks. The first clothing change was done when the lights cut out and all focus is on the girls with the laser. At the end of the illusion he stood in one place to give the verbal lead-in to the next trick and the lights cut again, presumably for the second change. As for this show; pretty sure it's from the Tornado of fire special and, as I recall, they cut the theater lights and "went outside" with the camera shot to talk about the pier in NYC where the tornado would be.
Copperfield gets laid more than all of the guys posting on this board combined. So, you want to complain that it's all fake? Does Copperfield really care what you think? He's still going to get laid and you're not!
Nice illusion. Cut-out pant legs with wires and foam to make it seem his "detached" waist down to the thighs are filled, when it actuality they are held by a wire mesh frame. He swivels his waist and bends at the hips to give the illusion his upper torso is floating in mid-air. Notice his separated legs and upper torso are never too far apart....and we never get views of the sides or back of this illusionist. Would ruin the magic trick.
David Copperfield is just amazing. All of his illusions are just breathtaking. I don't even care how he does them, they're just so much fun to watch.
Although I do know how it works I can't get enough of this illusion. He is just one of the greatest entertainers and illusionist of all times.
Amazing, David !!!!!

@dizevil wow this is fake alright however you couldnt be more wrong with the solution of this trick it uses absolutely no camera tricks what so ever
@Regidwight i think you ruined the trick >.>
Too easy to figure out.
See the transitions? The cuts? Let's just say the live audience didn't see what the camera saw.
