Usually, they work better if you put some oil in em! I didn't see but 2 drops of what looked like oil when you took that apart. If it had the right amount of oil in it at the time, oil would be running out when you pulled the cover off!
Usually when the case has a crack in it and the drain plug is removed and left to sit a few days, all the oil drains out. Maybe you're onto something though, LOL
Through the wheel well. I took off both front wheels and hubs, removed both front axles, punched out the roll pin with a punch, unbolted the diff and pulled out the diff. I replaced the roll pin with a bolt and nut.
Patrick Deynoodt The gears in the Brutus diff are the same as what was in the 16+ Ranger 900/1000, but it had a steel sprague. I’ll post the part number here in a minute.
OleNasty79 I have a 2016 ranger 900 xp high lifter edition and front diff busted everything except ring gear and case. Figured it would cost about the same to replace everything that's broke as a new diff almost so I'd rather go new than rebuild. Are u gonna replace sprague with aluminum or keep steel one in yours? How much was the Brutus front diff if you don't mind me asking?
I got the Brutus on ebay for about $400 new, but I doubt you'll find it that cheap again. FWIW, I got two rides out of the Brutus diff before I broke the gears again. Ray Shane Jumper at TCP Offroad, hooked me up with a new subframe and a RZR 1000 diff. Been going good since.
OleNasty79 that sounds like the way to go then. I'm all about beefing things up. What did that run? Is it same gearing in the 1000 rzr front diff as the 900xp? What Part number front diff did you go with?
Not sure of the price, you'd have to contact him. I'm at work now but when I get home I can get you part numbers, it was just a new diff from a '17 Rzr 1000
You don't always need a new diff..but it Helps!

What, if You Put Some Smaller Tires On Your Polaris Ranger 🛩😎🛩
Im going down to the place where there doing it. Ill post you a link
Is it having bigger tires and driving through lots of mud that will damage the differential like that?
yes
How did you get it out of the ranger? Through the wheel well or down through the bottom?

OleNasty79 sounds good man. Got everything done up to getting the roll pin. Gonna find a punch tomorrow and get back at it.
Go buy an air hammer from Harbor Freight, its like $12, makes the job way easier.
OleNasty79 okay buddy
I have same issue. What is the difference in gear ratio of Brutus diff and what is part number of it?

Have u replaced the clutches on your machine?
not yet, probably should soon.
I do have a large gear reduction in trans though.
Just had to go threw that last week I got a stage 3 clutch kit for the primary and secondary. 550 for both
From where?
You know why?
Because you go off on sink it in the mud and put big tires on it to try to climb out of a hole🤔
