The autofocus is much better with Sony/Canon/Nikon, these models are better suited for professional work. Valid. As someone who only used Fujifilm for personal stuff and other brands for professional work, the reason I left Fujifilm was the size and weight didn't make sense anymore for a casual every day carry bit of kit. It's a struggle to find a body that's significantly smaller/lighter than competitor full frame options. So in a way most of their line up has has all the negatives of full frame and all the negatives of aps-c. I mean the a7CII with the Zeiss 35f2.8 is about the size of the X100VI, which is mind boggling. If they could get that value proposition right and have a few more cameras aimed at the casual carry market then I can see myself recommending them for at least personal photography. So far it seems like they have bottled both sides of the fence.
I love my X-T2, my X-e1, and my x100s. Beautiful colors, but my X-H2S had very mediocre AF, not even close to my OM1. From what we see online their firmware it just keeps getting worse, which is crazy. Get your act together Fuji! I returned the X-H2S while I still had time. If I hear they've fixed it then I'll be back, but Panasonic which just moved to phase detect AF is way better already than Fuji. I wonder if the Xtrans sensor has issues or limits AF performance?
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm still waiting for the market to settle, to decide my migration to mirrorless. I'll wait until next year. Fuji was one alternative, but the reliability thing and the price / performance ratio was not right. There are reasons why pro photographers mostly use Canon and Sony and some Nikon now.
as.a former Canon R6 and Sony shooter ive now landet with Nikon...z8 and z6iii are perfect! They have AMAZING colour, maybe even better then Fuji, almost Sony/Canon Level AF, absolutely great glass... Love it...Fuji is its own thing tho, they render so nice and different, but their results arent good for pro work...failed af even with confirmation boxes tons and the Lightroom worms...just too much, considering the price is only slightly cheaper if you compare equal glass (Nikons 1.8 Glass is amazing and eqv. the 1.2 on the Fujis, but is cheaper)
I have thr Fuji X-H1 and love the video from it. I never had an issue ever with it. I actually shot a bunch today and it came out incredible. Do the dead pixels appear after the camera gets warm? I own an XH1 and the XT3 and I never noticed a dead pixel. I'm not looking for them, but I use magnification while focusing, so I guess I would probably notice it. I understand your position.
