Great reaction to a rarely-reacted-to classic. I'm another Scot who was very entertained and impressed by what you chose to show and comment on - and your minute-plus of silence, as the full horror finally kicks in, was fab! Instant subscriber. (I think I was your 1000th!)

*Really* loved your reaction. Insightful, sharp, funny, and you let the movie breathe too. Instant subscriber. My family are from South West Scotland where this movie was shot and I spent a year living and working in Kirkcudbright which is a filming location for many exterior scenes in the Island's town. It was a *very* eerie experience walking out my front door and literally into the sets from the Wicker Man. On a quiet spring evening it was actually creepy to be wandering those streets. This movie has a fantastic atmosphere and a slow build of tension all the way up to the final (literal) "Jesus Christ!" moment. It's a cult masterpiece for a reason.
@@dryfesands1367 WOW WOW WOW 🤯 If I weren’t such a chicken about flying, I’d be in Kirkcudbright in a minute! The eerie atmosphere of that film- the matter of fact tone and that 70s grainy exploitation look - just make this experience stick in your craw long after the credits roll. Not to mention the music…Willow’s Song?!? You also mentioned the ending…it broke me not to include all of Edward Woodward’s best moments (“oh, God, oh Jesus Christ!” “🎶the Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not waaaant🎶”) but I wanted my reaction to be different than others that include those moments, and because sometimes people watch reactions rather than watching the movie I want people to experience those moments for themselves. They gave him multiple chances to escape his fate. If he had succumbed to Willow’s seduction he would no longer be a virgin & would have lost his sacrificial value
@@kenny832 Agree on Point 2. Disagree on Point 1 - they tampered with his plane and offered an unrealistic means to travel to the mainland that would’ve taken weeks. They never intended for him to leave. He was trapped and they called him “willing.”
@@kenny832 hi Kenny, thanks for watching and for sharing your comments - I appreciate it. I haven’t experienced negging since the Noughties, but going to take your bait. Respectfully, I take great offense to the term “butchered” because it is essential to the upload of a reaction that we cut as much footage as possible in order to post. Moreover, for people who have not seen the film in its entirety but watch reactions primarily for the experience, I don’t want them to see Edward Woodward’s iconic reaction to the Wicker man or his pained singing of the hymn from within it on my channel in my reaction for the first time. That is a singular experience that everyone should have.
@@ShelleyIsReeling So sorry! I didn’t mean YOUR cutting but there are 2 versions of this movie; the cinematic & the directors cut. From the documentaries it’s plain to see that everyone involved with the movie (inc. Chris Lee) considered the final cinematic cut as a butchering. There is a directors cut (thanks to a copy found in the US) that is better. The cinematic cut starts with the plane flying to the Island but the directors starts with Sgt. Howie on the mainland. Please don’t think I meant any offence or criticism. I am always thrilled to see anyone react to one of my favourite films & I enjoyed your reaction very much, thank you!
The true horror is when people do evil but their ideology makes them believe they are doing good. This film shows what happens when a malignant religion is accepted without any critical thinking.
@@dbking4194 I like this assessment, very astute. It’ll forever bug me that Howe didn’t immediately leave the island when he realized they were obfuscating about Rowen. Go get back up!! Thanks for sharing and watching!😁
