Hi Nick, great video! Some suggestions for the metal working part, I was taught this by a seasoned machinist... Prepping your screw. To get a clean cut on a threaded bolt or screw, first screw-in two nuts on the thread and tighten them one against the other, this will give you something to hold onto when you go to cut the head off without damaging the threads. It's a good idea to clam the nuts in your bench vice so the screw is solidly anchored whilst you work. Also, you'll get a cleaner cut if you use a metal saw or a Dremmel cutting tool, than with a pair of metal pliers. Once the head is cut, use your metal file to file down the end to a flat surface and file around the edge to give it a bit of a sloping edge, this will ease in the screwing in later on. Then loosen the two nuts and unscrew them out from the cut end, this will realign any thread that has been damaged during the cutting and filing process and will let you screw-in the bolt more easily into the taped end of your handle foundation. Drilling your hole. You might consider checking the alignment of the handle with a bubble level to make sure you start from an angle of as near as you can get straight. Since you are using a hand drill, you can mount two bubble levels on your drill, at right-angle to one-another... to check if you are straight. Counter-check the levels with the drill bit when you install them... It's not pretty, but it does allow you to know when you are off and in which direction and you can get away with working alone this way. Before you start drilling, you ought to use a punch to punch a point where you want your drill bit to center on. This will help greatly in keeping the bit where you want it without too much mucking about. You can use masking tape to wrap around your drill bit to mark how far your bit needs to go in. This way you don't need to always stop and check to see if you're there. I would also recommend you drill a bit beyond what you need, though not by much, just so you can really bottom-out when you screw-in your threaded bolt. Taping. You should unwind your tap tool every half-turn especially if you are not using taping oil. This will expel the metal shavings from the hole and will prevent your taping tool from locking it. Taping tools are made of very hard steel, but it is also more brittle, and I've seen taping tool snap in the hole! Once that happens, it is near impossible to remove it. So you're better off taking a few more extra minutes to do it right and insure you are not faced with this problem. Ideally, you would have at least half the thickness of the screw as thickness of the wall of your handle foundation, so if your screw is 1/4" you should have a wall thickness of at least 1/8", which means your handle foundation should be 1/2". Since there is no lateral pressure placed on the screw or from any direction really, this isn't as important, but the thicker the wall is, the stronger the job will be. I know this is all a bit long, but in actuality, it only take a moment or two more and insures a cleaner result and lowers the risks of bad things happening. Love your channel!

Another tip for drilling the hole is to use a center punch to not only mark the center where you want to drill but it also prevents the drill from wandering about before it actually starts to grab and make the hole.
Another tip once you have the threaded bolt in the concho >>> measure that against the drill bit to measure how deep to go and mark the drill bit with a tab of masking tape this makes sure you never drill too far😊
Looks great! I love that concho! Is it made of metal or plastic? Looks like metal. Protips: pre-drill the hole with a smaller diameter drill bit. The small drill bits make it easier to make sure that you're in the exact middle of what you're drilling into. Also, it makes it easier and the hole gets smoother/nicer looking when it comes to drilling with the bigger drill bit. Instead of stopping every now and then to check the depth, you can measure the length of the bolt (for instance, 10mm long), then put a piece of tape 10mm from the tip of the drill bit plus 0,5-1mm. Then when you drill, and get to where the tape is, you know that the depth is correct. Not to seem like some sort of smart-ass know-it-all, I'm just an educated metal worker, so I can't resist to give tips sometimes XD Love your videos! Excellent tutorial! I learned a lot of stuff. It looks like you hollowed out the inner cords for the wrap, if so how much cord did you used for the head? Thanks.
Also use some type of cutting fluid/ lubrication when drilling and tapping, even if it's just WD40 it will make drilling easier and extend the life of your bits.
3 things when you want to make a thread: 1. centerpunch the hole 2. drill way deeper than the length of thred you want! The thread on the tap isn´t going all the way to the tip. 3. use oil when tapping!!!!!!!!

Hi Nick. What happens when you wax the whip? Doesn't the wax gunk-up the concho, or do you put tape over the concho before you wax?

Wrap a piece of tape around the drill bit at the depth you want the hole to be, and use oil when drilling metal

hey nick clear fingernail polish will work just like loctite and is cheaper and u could also get all thread to fit in your conchos
