bruh adjust spool tension by dropping your bait in the water straight down if the spool ovcr spools its too loose if it doesnt even drop too tight just find a middle where you can drop the bait it hits water and stops
All thats great but when i start fishing from my boat i want my reel set up to cast a constant distance without fear of blowing up on me which for my Blue Max is 35 to 40 yds with little or no thumb pressure cause I'm out there to fish...not to see how far i can cast and pick out back lashes which for your reel appears to b about 40 yards. My Abu Garcia Blue max combo 79.97 from Walmart can b set up to cast a constant 35 to 40 yds with no or very little thumb pressure consistently. I can bait both my combos with my favorite 2 lures which saves me time . 2 BM combos for the price of just that one reel. Like i said..I'm out there to fish..not to win distance awards and picking out black lashes. But your video's r interesting.
Agree, accuracy and reliability are why I use baitcaster..its not all distant and really baitcaster reels are for accurate casting. Long bombs use spin reels.
The SLX DC is really a set it and forget reel. I leave mine on the #2 setting and slightly adjust the spool tension knob. Instead of testing the nuances and actual performance these videos are always just based on distance and never focus on, on the water fishing scenarios. Pick the right rod for whatever weight lure you are throwing and any combo will cast a long ways. The SLX DC is a great reel and it is definitely made out of better materials than the blue max combo. End of the day, fish what you like and you are right, fishing is about catching fish not about casting across the pond at some unfishable distance while you pick out a backlash. You will be catching fish while this guy is trying to convince himself that the Japanese SLX DC is somehow better than the US version even though they are the same reel.
@@RockyPondProductions The JDM version is a 70 size spool half the size of the USA and Australia version. I own the SLX DC, Personally I use my jdm SLX MGL More because it never backslashes and I don't like the DC sound.
@@RockyPondProductions The 70 spool is going to have a lot less rotational inertia than the 150; that in itself is going to make it a better even if they didn't change anything else. The difference will be more pronounced the lighter the bait.
My slx dc had one flaw that I just couldn’t overcome. Brake setting 3 would just kill the cast. I’d be trying to get a spinnerbait out 30-40 yards and “doink”. It was really heavy on the tail end. But then brake setting 2 would randomly blow up on me...so it was kind of a rock and a hard place. Do I cast short EVERY time or do I live in fear of random blow ups? Distance mode seemed to work fine but you need a heavy bait and you need a good casting stroke, otherwise it’s gonna be a “go home” backlash. I love every other slx model. The mgl sits nicely alongside my curado 70/engetsu rigs and the regular slx is still an amazing bargain with old school shimano vibe. But something about that dc and the way those brakes are tuned. I could just never make it work for me.
My JDM SLX DC 70 could not outcast my Citica 101E or my Curado 101D. The SLX DC70 would be a wonderful beginners reel. Both the Citica and Curado have upgraded bearings , but I didn't see much difference in the performance of either reel. My first DC reel was very disappointing, many backlashes when trying to get distance.
Do you put a line conditioner on your reels before taking them out for the first time? Maybe something for you to try. But great video I think I’m sold on that reel.
I don’t use a rod or reel to fish and get my bait out twice as far. I just lasso my line out there like if I was ropin a bull. You kids now a days thinks you need all these different thingamajigs just to catch fish. Come fishing with me I’ll reach ya somethin
You have to tighten down the spool tension knob to where there's minimal side to side play in the spool and use the appropriate setting for the line type. I have mine dialed to where there's zero side to side, and i use setting 2 for braid like the manual says to, and it won't backlash on me 9/10 times

ON DC reel, try to set your spool tension a bit tighter, it will help. Not all reel can do what Daiwa Zero Adjuster or Daiwa Magforce Z do.
DC reels look down on Daiwa reels

There is a better way to pick out back lashes that don't damage you line like when you pull and pick it. Look up Bill Dance Backlash.
I gently rip the rod tip up a foot or two right before it hits the water, works everytime.

Just use a braid and setting 2, it will work fine.
It has been a great reel. It bombs better than my curado dc.

Line conditioner makes 0 difference on most line types, except mono, in which it makes VERY little difference

Also the dc chip doesn’t have a battery so it needs a few casts to actually charge the system
