Major rock vibes this album. Dami and Siyeon rily suit this sound. I hope to hear more of Dami especially since her voice is perfect for this kind of concept as shown by her solo song Beauty Full
Each song in the album represents an emotion (희노애락) which are joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure. Starting from Bonvoyage= joy, Demian= anger and so on. The girls said that they also tried to show these emotions in the songs and the photoshoots in the album.
My favorite is "Propose". I love both the music and the vocals in this song. It's so "old" alternative. "Demian" comes right after. And again - this beautiful singing. And Dami's scream "Eyes" at the end of the rap... And I don't even like rap... It's unbelievable - I suddenly like music that I don't actually love - because it's coming from DC. And - the intro. Is there a group that dwells on it and even makes an effort? Yes DC It's so strong. The ballad at the end is also very good, just not to my liking. I'm not into ballads. But the voices tear it out again. Thank you for your very good detailed response.
It's funny that you picked out the egg line from Demian because this seems to be a direct reference from the novel as there is the following quote: "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world."
Propose is a masterpiece on its own, BUT DEMIAN is taking it to another level... Such a brave, experimental, song done right. It's my favorite from the album. Stellar album (that now has my favorite Deukae ballad, man).

You my friend, have good taste 🤝 I'm very new to Korean music as in November last year, I finally decided to go out of my way and start my K-pop journey through Blackpink (they were the first Korean group I listened to the whole discography of). So far I have only 2 groups that I’m a huge fan of and know I’ll be supporting forever, those are DC and aespa (both of which I only discovered this year with DC literally less than 3 months ago). Even more recently, Purple Kiss and KARD have got my attention, and I'm slowly making my way through their entire discography. If we exclude groups, I absolutely adore everything that Trouble Maker (a duo) have put out in their short life span (they were what made me realise I need to explore K-pop even further (when Blackpink was just me trying it out). Dreamcatcher on the other hand are an absolute ult, they have quickly become and are one of my favourite musical artists of all time. I would have to write a whole essay to put into words how much I love them, but to summarise, I have never once owned a physical music album of any kind, DC are a first. Aespa are such a vibe and I love everything about them, like the fact that they make very EDM inspired music (something that I grew up with) and they have some of the most amazing vocal powerhouses in mainstream K-pop. I look forward to getting into Rolling Quartz as I have heard a lot about them previously). I assume you got mixed up but I will definitely be checking out their cover to ‘Good Night’.
This is by far one of my favorite albums, period. The production and vocals are insane. And I love that everything is either rock centered or dark and sexy throughout the album. To You is so beautiful. It has the same vibes as Trust Me from Prequel vibes but w/ an upgraded vocals and production. I absolutely LOVE this album. About Demian: I actually read the book a few years ago in preparation for BTS’s Wings album, It was inspired by that book too, and the book actually sold out in SK. Siyeon was seen during Deja Vu era (so 2019) w/ the book, so they may have all read it. I don’t remember some of the details, but the theme is a coming of age story. Demian is an imaginary friend that helps the main character get through lots of confusing and trying times until he finally lets him go w/ a kiss during the war. Demian isn’t revealed to be imaginary until the last act but always implied that there’s something mysterious about him.
My personal favourite is Propose ever since the highlight medley. So I was really excited to see you react to it along with the other two songs. Btw I think To You sounds like it would perfectly fit to a kdrama.

Ey, thanks for another DC reaction :] can't wait. "Propose" feels to me like a sister to "Poison Love" and "BEcause" and "Red Sun," etc. All DC's songs about toxic relationships. There's something almost like a villain song in "Propose." The lyrics feel very unhealthy, but DC is singing it loud and proud and making a stand, which just reminds me of villain songs in musicals or cartoons. It's really fun, and they _are_ actively promoting "Propose." You can find gorgeous live performances of it already. This whole album feels like a proper rock EP. Experimental, but all different flavors of rock. I love all of the tracks. "To. You" has been on repeat since the album dropped. (P.S. the word you were looking for was melancholia.)
My personal ranking for this album is, VonBoyage >= Propose > Demian = To. You but Personally, the number of times I've searched and listened to it myself is higher in PROPOSE than in Bon Voyage.

Intro: From Us blends the piano intro from "Dreamcatcher - Mayday" with a sick guitar solo, played with the notes from "Minx - Shut Up". I love BONVOYAGE. Lyrically it's the story of Dreamcatcher's own personal apocalypse, told from 3 different perspectives: 1) Pre-debut Dreamcatcher (also known as Minx), who are at their lowest point in their careers and who have to make a choice. Give up their dream or re-debut as Dreamcatcher with a completely different image and sound. (verses) 2) Post-debut Dreamcatcher, who are treating every day as their last, going full speed ahead with their new image and sound, while leaving their Minx era image behind. (chorus) 3) Current day Dreamcatcher, a blend of both Minx and Dreamcatcher, who are looking back with pride and love at both versions of themselves. (intro, pre-chorus, bridge and final chorus) ❤ Alternatively in the climate apocalypse context: Nature is dying, humanity is at a crossroad. I thought first it might be because it reminds me of "Radiohead - Creep" at times, but there was something else too in the back of my head. Before i checked out the lyrics, i expected that this was a song dedicated to the fans, but something didn't quite add up after reading and understanding the lyrics. Lyrically this song makes perfect sense if it is Dreamcatcher's love song to Minx and about how they are now embracing and love their past selves. "Tried to forget you, lock you in the past, i know it's late, but now i want you." After making that connection, i checked out all the Minx songs to see if the instrumental parts that triggered my nostalgia was maybe something from a Minx song. Sure enough, turns out the synth lines and the guitar solo are mimicking vocal elements from "Minx - Like you". Lyrically these songs mirror each other, since the Minx song is about being hurt, forgetting and moving on, while the Dreamcatcher song is about healing, remembering and holding on. Ollounder and co are musical geniuses. ❤
demian actually represents the "true self" or the "ideal self" to the main character in the book, the main character admired how mature worldly the character Demian is, how he embraced the bad as well as the good in life. The lyric about "Stay with me, My Demian" is dreamcatcher vowing to stay true to their beliefs and no matter what they explore or what people they become in the future they will always find the strength to be true to themselves in a world so contrary and cruel

When I heard Demian, I thought it'd be my favorite of the album because it was a bit harder, but Propose I think has surpassed it. There's like... A haunting driving emotion that gets to me. "Love's a curse" really stands out, just like Deva Vu's "Holding this pain". To. You probably is a skip for me simply because I'm not into this sort of soft, light ballad, although it is pretty and does sound like an OST song.
About Propose lyrics: am I the only one that's persuaded that the actual lyrics in the chorus are "Just before we DIVE pull you into my kiss" with DIVE instead of DIE? It would be a little less dramatic but much more romantic imo.
If you like the Demian theme you should listen to BTS' Album _Wings,_ more specifically _Blood Sweat and Tears._ It is also based on that novel. By the way, speaking of them, I wished BTS went back to their artistic self instead of catering to the American market... However, I guess it is easy to say from my poor low-middle class couch... if I had a chance to bring in the millions, I might change my mind...lol... But still, once in a while they should release some more artistically involved songs, they are so good when they decide to go that route... But yeah, totally love DC's Demian, it hits just right!

When I heard Demian, I thought it'd be my favorite of the album because it was a bit harder, but Propose I think has surpassed it. There's like... A haunting driving emotion that gets to me. "Love's a curse" really stands out, just like Deva Vu's "Holding this pain". To. You probably is a skip for me simply because I'm not into this sort of soft, light ballad, although it is pretty and does sound like an OST song.

If you like the Demian theme you should listen to BTS' Album _Wings,_ more specifically _Blood Sweat and Tears._ It is also based on that novel. By the way, speaking of them, I wished BTS went back to their artistic self instead of catering to the American market... However, I guess it is easy to say from my poor low-middle class couch... if I had a chance to bring in the millions, I might change my mind...lol... But still, once in a while they should release some more artistically involved songs, they are so good when they decide to go that route...
But yeah, totally love DC's Demian, it hits just right!
