dreamcatcher \:D/ from what I understand of the book, it's about someone discovering two sides of society and struggling with morality between good and evil. a recurring theme in many dreamcatcher songs is maintaining ones identity which often involves battling inner demons that's offering the easy way, selling oneself out. that's why mirrors and duplicates are in so many of their mvs. so when the lyrics start with dangerous conversation, you can think of it as being tempted by your dark side. instead of thinking the hand choreo is covering the eye, look at it as revealing and covering each side of one's face to represent duality. the relative chaos in the structure of the song as well as the distortion uses in their voices also play to the theme.

Demian is based on Hermann Hesse's book with the same name from 100 years ago (1919). It's really popular in Korea. BTS were also inspired by it and based their whole 2016 album Wings on that book. It's all about the journey of the character Emil Sinclair and his strange friend and classmate Max Demian. It talks about the World of Illusion vs the Real World, so Max is in reality Emil's daemon (like in Fight Club). In the end, the book declares that there is a personal morality, beyond good and evil, based on a person's values. It reflects Hesse's views on Karl Jung's works. Max Demian is a very intelligent, free and angry person (the rage in the song). It's very difficult to identify Max's gender, and there is a duality in everything about that person. Max is everything Emil dreams of becoming. And the world around changes very rapidly, it's hard to keep up.
