After a while it just looked like head and shoulders were in the air not connecting to the body

As a traditional artist this is especially real to me. At least with digital you can flip the canvas with ease lol
@@QtPieMarth well if you're doing it on a paper i suggest you flip the paper and look at it in the sunlight so it shines though the paper,it's basicaly the same as digital flip,only using sun or lamp lol.
if you are doing it on canvas for oil paintings...then idk how to help :(
Never really happens to me, like I spend WAAAAAY too much time making everything anatomically correct. Incorrect anatomy really bugs me.
On the flipside everyone says my drawings tend to be bland, boring and lack style and action.
All perks have their downsides I guess.

this dude pointed out a problem that made me think "Oh god, how are they gonna fix this without doing a TON of work?", moved like 2 things around and fixed the whole problem in a few seconds, and called it a little crude. I mean, I can see it's not a perfect fix, but just being able to visibly get his point across like that surprised me.
When the problem lies in the basics, it's pretty easy to fix stuff, when it comes to detials (or maybe light since this is a digital painting) it might take a little more, but if you're a skilled artist, you can do this kind of stuff fairly quickly, especially if you're working for big studios, you gotta be fast and good
Not really a ton of work,* if the artist uses layers. The more layers used the easier it will be. Ex.(legs,arms,head,bg) all separate. Most professional digital art are done in layers.

Ah, I see what happened here. The base skin is actually about right, but most of the neck is obscured.
That's where the redraw lost it. It has a much more open collar and failed to fill the space. He drew a completely straight neck from the head into the collar, rather than the heavily bend neck the pose required. He also failed to redraw the upper portion of the chest, creating a huge visual gap. This gap is what lifts her breats and lowers her collar bone, which in turn visually moves her right shoulder and spine forward. (it actually looks like she has two right arms)
I remember looking at the neck and saying "Dude, is her neck broken?", and now that you zoomed in I can see it's even worst than I thought.
If Caitlyn was brought to life in this current state she would be in excruciating pain.
I think her head woukd just fall off, she wouldn't be able to exist...

My neck starts hurting from only looking at this splash art
It probably was what you were saying about adjusting until the artist didn't notice, when you project the line of vision from her eyes it's very parallel to the scope but displaced as if she weren't using it. But when you moved the head it kind of alligned really well, as it was likely intended

Maybe you're misjudging where the torso is? If you follow her shoulder, the upper torso is much further back than you think.
thats what i thought but then i saw the center of her cleavage and witch way her neck is pointing and the dont match up at all
and 2 even if you consider the fact shes leaning at an angle her tight shoulder is way to high to be physically possible
the only time i can get my shoulder nearly that high is when my arms at my side and im jamming it up( witch is not comfortable)
and her bodys at mamby a 20-30 degree angle but her head neck and right arm at like a 60 degree angle

Is it just me or is LoL getting quite a lot of things wrong lately, especially regarding the aesthetics? Kai’Sa, Sylas, Kayle&Morgana rework, Qyiana (I think?) which is just terrible and now this...
Not all of them are huge mistakes, but they’re making a whole lot of small mistakes
Also kaisa now has 5 skins even though she got released a year ago

Ive been noticing the same, they said they were trying to break the way they design women in the game (Illaoi and Taliyah) but after a while they went back to the same and even worst. The characters are looking like they did in the first season but with better graphics

I'm very late to this but I want to share my thoughts on this.
When making art, especially splash art, a lot of sacrifices and decisions like these must be taken. My thought here is that they pushed her head to the right to leave some breathing room for the gun silhouette to show. (riot care a lot about the thumbnails and that's a reason why their art is great). If they kept her head in a natural position, it would ruin the silhouette.
By the way, I don't think they were deseperate to keep that background composition to point towards her head, they always change things when they don't work, sometimes they rework the entire background,character face etc. So nasically I think that they had to sacrifice anatomy for the sake of the silhouette and dynamic composition, it probably could've been done better.
I'm an artist and I follow a ton of splash artists and know a bit of their processes, that's what I'm basing my opinion on.
I would also wager that they wanted a clear view of the face so they can get a good crop of it

This is the reason why I keep such a huge focus on anatomy in my art.
Like you highlight, this looks like the result of some minor tweaks to the pose after a good portion of it was done. Her head/neck looks like it was dragged out to the right for clarity but little was done to correct the rest of her pose to compensate for the adjustment.
I guess that at first the artist did it anatomicaly (sorry if that doesn't exist, my native is spanish) correct, but at revision with other coworkers they decided that the head was kinda hiding out, and they put composition over "realism", as you said, a lot of people didn't and wouldn't find the error so they go anyways with that one

I'm biggest advocate for long necks, but man you can do it in anatomically correct way. The way I see the neck here, it looks like it curves the way lizard one does.

if im being honest as an artist... ive done nothing to this extreme but, there would be a small thing where it was like. you know if you dont focus on that one thing, it looks really good... but once you focus on it, yea you cant help but notice it
Edit: i was looking at the art and a way they could have probably fixed it is if they rotate her like legs and torso more to her right so shes kinda leaning to the side, like she just finished taking a shot and that might make the neck instead of kinda floating in space more closer to that believable like zone

Working out the anatomy of a pose is my favorite part of producing any piece of art. So stuff like this is just jarring to me.
I hate when this happens so much. It's like you said, doesn't matter skill level it seems like, when it comes to hard poses we sometimes go blind to our own mistake. So fricking annoying... And even when people point it out it's hard for me to see it, they kinda have to make a little sketch like you did to point out the error otherwise I still can't see it. ARRGHGHHGGHGHGH!!!!!

The thing is her neck the way it's drawn would be completely bent at a 90 angle from her spine while her head is still completely straight up and looking ahead which is physically impossible because it would kill you.

In the splash art of lee sin, the hand is in the wrong direction, check it out, he has the fingers in the opposite direction.

I'm only at 4:30 in the video but I also noticed that like bc of how far to the side the head/neck are, it doesn't /look exactly like her eye is lined up w the sights on the rifle very well. As in if you push the head/neck over a few inches/adjust for the new position it would actually be in line w the rifle sights.
also tbh in the base skin the collar covers up enough of the neck that it feels less egregious compared to the prestige skin.
The neck and arm and head all look like a different pose slapped onto a different body's pose.
