I don´t play online but i´ve recently gotten into the habit of sailing rdr2 boats and boah.... am addicted to em now ! Am spending most of my time now fishing and cruising around !
Spent a good 1.5hrs in-game last night just boating around in a steamboat. I'm officially in-need of player-owned water vehicles now! Come on RockStar!
Excellent information. How did I not see this before? Like you I hate killing NPCs unless I have to for a mission, in which case they're usually trying to kill me. This will be my go to spot for boats from now on. As an Englishman who grew up near the River Thames I love being out on the water, it has a special feeling for me. If you jump in and then hop up on the ship to the left or right you can get even closer to the ship lanes before committing yourself to the swim that might end in glug glug glug... I also found you can hitch a ride on some ships and boats, if you can get on without being spotted. Next chance I get I'm hitching a ride to see where they are delivering their goods.
@Ziploc Yeah obviously I love boats too LOL. Yes, I also go further out and hop on a sail ship to get the boat easier, but I didn’t want the process to become too difficult in the video. I figured that people would figure that out eventually. You can also get boats at the Van Horn Lighthouse from a rock sticking up out of the water just outside of the lighthouse’s river edge. 😉👍🏼
I grabbed a steamboat with plans to sail it all the way down and around to the southwest. Problem is it blew up and sank as I was leaving the San Denis area. I might try it with a canoe next to see if that works.
Yeah, for how technically advanced water is in RDR2 there's almost nothing to do with it. Ferries would be nice to have too. And coaches. Instead of that out of place fast travel thing.
Good stuff my friend.✌🏼 Really sucks we can't buy a boat(s) and use it like a horse. Have it have the same options as the horse, on who can use it or get in it. Easy-peasy-Japanesey. Great channel, RPing is the best and only way to play in my opinion.✌🏼
@Drtbag39 I agree 💯% I feel like R* should utilize the water much more (including in GTA) with many more water activities, missions and events. They should even have various Islands available like Guarma with some really cool “tropical island” stuff going on for exploring, hunting, fishing or just escaping the main land grind. I feel like since r*’s games are so massive, they are probably very limited on how much data the current generation gaming consoles can handle, or else the sky would be the limit for them in my opinion. It’s probably why you cannot sit in every chair or lay in every bed in the game, which that in itself would be amazing to me. Let’s see what they’re able to do with GTA6 on the newer generation consoles. 🤔 Great share!!! 😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey 👋🏻 I found yr channel n have enjoyed watching yr vids 👍🏻 I too, play the game slow n I don’t rush about like many other players. Have u tried to get across to Mexico with the Steamer Boat ? Mexico can be explored. There are ways to get there, but I wondered if it was possible with the boat. Looking forward to more of yr vids 🤠👍🏻
@Lil Tinker It’s funny you should ask that because I’ll be in Mexico in my next video which I hope to have uploaded to TH-cam by this weekend. I’ve “never” seen any ways to get to Mexico “by steamboat”, but getting to Mexico is definitely possible. Unfortunately, I won’t be explaining how I got to Mexico in my video because I “don’t” want to encourage players to cheat or use glitches from my channel. But I will have a little fun with it. 😉👍🏼
Wohoo.. Worked. I needed the boat to get a collectible off the island to the south of the RR Bridge. Almost died, next time, I'll quaff a stamina pot. Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant man! (I just grabbed the first one). Best fun yet since I started playing RDO just last week (solo now because of hackers). I love the puffs and sound of steam. On PC, E to enter and control the tiller/rudder. Shift Key for Gas. Ctrl Key for Reverse Throttle.
@Mike Buckley That’s a good question Mike. My answer will be YES although many players have trouble fishing from boats. I have fished from boats before, but not all boats, so I honestly don’t know if you can fish from every boat. But if you try, make sure that you’re “standing” and that you’re “facing the side of the boat” before pulling out the fishing rod. Also make sure that you’re not in some sort of combat mode with a mission, NPC or another player. Good luck and keep me posted! 😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@Evil Roy You can use a boat forever as long as you don’t go out into the middle of the main “Lanahachee River” that runs through the south of the map. You can go anywhere on “Flat Iron Lake” and through all of the north rivers in a boat without sinking. Just do not cross the Lanahachee River. See my video on “Sink Zones”: th-cam.com/video/V-R3F6Yi1S0/w-d-xo.html 😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@Angela Carrington Usually I “flee” my horse when I won’t be needing him. I would imagine that he simply hangs out on his own somewhere until I need him again. 😉👍🏼
@Legend 27 LOL, yeah one of the most difficult parts of making my RDR2 videos is having to wait out all of the bad weather to capture the most beautiful content. 😫😫😫
@@ceofoxtrot I appreciate the thought and the link. I am a little worried I will not know what button to push to climb onto the boat, and if you only know the controller commands, I guess I will just do some "trial and error," and I will paste here what I discover ASAP. If I drown, I will keep in mind how many times you probably drowned in creating your steamboat series (and blew up at least once) and I will tip my soggy hat to you. Keep up the great content!
@@samspencer1846 LOL... I understand your frustration which is why I personally don’t play on PC. I’ll be the first to admit that PC gaming is absolutely incredible once you’ve mastered the controls, but the trial and error learning curve is a son of a gun! Good luck to you my friend! 😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@ceofoxtrot I use a cheap wired XBox controller plugged into a USB port for the best of both worlds. I switch between controller and mouse/keyboard on the go, using the controller for movement but (usually) mouse for aiming and shooting. Red Dead, Grand Theft Auto 5 and online, and indeed most games created in the last 10 years support this sort of dual control system on PC. GTA4 which is even older also handles this, though I've been using auto aim recently in that game except for sniping. I got wrist strain using keyboard only for movement after too many hours playing the Elder Scrolls series. Controllers are much more ergonomic.
@@samspencer1846 I play both PS4 and PC and I know how complicated the PC controls are compared to console. You can purchase an inexpensive controller that will work with your PC as well as a console..the only drawback is that PC does not support the Dual Shock (vibration) for the controller..but I believe there are programs available to dwld for this?..Heck, there's an app for everything nowadays, lol.
Hello Andy, that’s very strange… I’m not sure why there aren’t any boats going by. Please let me know if that situation changes in future gameplay sessions. 🤔🤔🤔
I love this boat and I wish we could even open those little hatches and go inside lol
Thanks, this is the door to new adventures in RDO.

I’m annoyed that my favorite channels like Achievement Hunter and Funhaus don’t play RDR2. Have to make my own Things To Do in Red Dead.
Yeah, for how technically advanced water is in RDR2 there's almost nothing to do with it. Ferries would be nice to have too. And coaches. Instead of that out of place fast travel thing.
I agree!
Coaches like Skyrim would make logical sense and, like the coach mod, give us the ability to travel in real-time or instant.
Re-watching all of CEOFoxtrot's RDR2 Online videos... Cuz excellent, :)
