@@aaa3d473I’m telling some dudes to get a nice PVS 14 Monocular then grab a thermal monocular down the road. The way of the sundown soldier is going the way of thermal and fusion lol
Received my IRIS from B&H Photo last week. Excited to start using it. It’s my first LAM and I’m new to NV, thanks for all of your help and education in this space.
I love this channel. So informative and in deoth on stuff most people dont cover. Everyone is very enthusiastic and autistic about nitch stuff. Great channel and i cant wait to see what brass thinks about the tp9 pro.
As someone who has desperately been waiting for the IRIS for a year and the CTF3 for two years - I went with the IRIS-3. And I’m extremely happy with it. Had the CTF3 actually been what Phantom Hill intended it to be (a CTF-2 with 6V head compatibility), I might lean towards it a little more. But all it is now is a CTF-2 with minor software/electronic upgrades and cerakote. The IRIS-3 is just more versatile. It’s insanely small, lightweight and I actually really love having the vis laser. It makes zeroing significantly faster/easier during the day and makes an infinity zero a breeze. It’s also been useful for shooting hogs out the back of a moving vehicle. Light technology constantly upgrades and updates. I’d rather buy a light for each firearm and upgrade it every so often. But I see zero need to upgrade the IRIS. It easily meets the gold standard when it comes to LAM’s, while being significantly cheaper. I see myself permanently keeping my IRIS.
Parasitic drain is one of the handful of things they specifically fixed in the CTF 3 The IRIS 3 and CTF aren't really competing with eachother since the CTF is about being all in one with whichever light you want. We have at least 3 IR heads to choose from now and dozens of light heads. You can get much more power than the IRIS even with the cheapest options like the Z-bolt IR head and Arisaka viz lights
Definitely interested in the zbolt. Just got the iris which is great but I like the zbolt has the laser over the bore. It just makes off sets easier. I whish holosun designed theirs with over the bore it's my only criticism
Nope, still not out, and the prices keeps going up on their website to the point where I think it's basically just going to end up as a slightly better raidxe.
@ fair enough, but putting drip first will leave you high and dry sometimes. Eotech won't have much of a market by the time they launch and at the price they're asking. Like if I wanted an OGL I could afford this new Steiner MAWL 2.0 which is way more appealing to me.
the CTF3 just seems to be the old CTF, still decent. But I need to get my hands on it. I'll be honest I didn't realize CTF was at shot until late friday.
basically passed around 12, you need to chain together beers otherwise you will die. You're going to die anyway, but this at least helps get you back to the hotel room
What about the validity of the SMS HFXC? I just got two of the updated models and they kind of blew me away for the price. In comparison to some FP lams they really are pretty close and the form factor is great. The flashlight alone is worth it
That is the same boat I am in. I refuse to buy holosun. While I understand no electronics are 100% USA made, but I refuse to fund the CCP if I can avoid it.
@@SecondClassCitizenyou’re already doing it all the time haha, but I get the point. However, even if you buy one of these “American ones”, still a probably high chance China gets money on the deal somewhere based on the materials and electronics it uses
The IRIS-4 is like if the PEQ-16 took a few days off at the gym. Very nice for plenty of lightweight builds, such as a MK18 in 6mm Max which has ballistics practically equal to a 20 inch 5.56 shooting 62 grain ammo but in a much smaller package.
@@rondobrondo Basically you can take a 10.3 inch barrel with a 58-62 grain 6 Max, and dope it as if it was a 16-20 inch 5.56. Effective range assuming M855/M193 like Terminal ballistics is around 350-400 meters, though point range (effective accurate rage) is closer to 500 meters if you have a 300 or 400 meter zero due to just how fast that bullet is driven and at higher grain weights the better sectional density. With an MK318 or M855A1 style projectile its terminal effective range will likely reach ~500 meters, further out of longer barrels up to 16 inches. Past 16 inches, the velocity gain is less extreme but the 6Max then starts to shine in heavy for caliber loads. Out of a 18 inch SPR with a 105 grain ELD you can get up to 2600-2700 FPS depending on powder selection which basically puts it in the 6 ARC ballpark. It should be noted HEAVILY however 6 MAX is designed to improve upon 5.56 (and to a smaller extent 300 BLK heavy supersonics) out of all barrel lengths first and foremost. Its capability to match 6 ARC at least in heavier loads was just a happy side effect of its design. The best thing about 6 max is it takes 5.56 bolt face and components, just a steel magazine that is 350 legend compliant and a barrel change with proper feed ramps is all thats needed.
I’m a huge fan of my IRIS. I don’t see any reason to seek FP LAM’s anymore. It’s 1/3 the price and the performance is outstanding. I’ll be buying an IRIS for each of my night rifles/PCC’s.
By chance, did you see the guy from InvisibleSight? He said he's bringing his own laser to market. However, I question that because he's still 10+ months behind on my ISEG ngal. The dude definitely knows his stuff, but man, he needs a bigger team or some kind of real production line.

@@novagroup2 let me rephrase, the ir flashlight you need and can't get around, but since the laser points back to your exact location rather than throwing light over a general area, do you think omitting a laser in favor of ir light and passive aiming would be a good idea?
@@TheGunNerdPassive aiming is overhyped. If they’re super close or lighting is bright it works. But if they’re in shadows, you need illum in which case just use your laser to shoot.
