I grew up in Crulivig on Lewis and left to join the RAF at 17. I dont regret leaving, but 45 years later here i am living in Australia bubbling like a baby at the sight of the most beautiful island in the world that god created. Filling it with the warm hearted people he did was just a bonus.
I relocated from the mainland to live in Stornoway a few years ago and am a regular flier with Loganair, both to Glasgow and to Inverness. Although fares are undoubtedly expensive, island residents are eligible for a discount (which I think is actually a Scottish Government subsidy), but even so a return flight to the mainland is seldom less than £200. Loganair are indeed a good airline, and my only gripe is that "Scotland's Airline" serve complimentary water from Spain. I have written to the Chief Executive of Loganair on this subject twice, but have yet to receive a reply!
Beautiful day to see the scenery. I flew this route in mid 1990s when BA flew it with 748 propeller aircraft which flew at alower altitude and took a bit longer. Disappointed with the new jet as a shorter flight and i think flew at 24000ft
I think people forget that Loganair aircraft have less seats but similar operating costs as say easyJet. EasyJet A320 GLA-SOU 186 seats, say £40 one way? Thats £7,440 for easyJet to pay crew, fuel, etc etc. Loganair Embraer 145, GLA-SOU 49 seats, if the charged the same price as £40 one way that’s £1,960…. Not even £2k for crew, fuel etc etc… So big plane with lots of seats = lower fares. Small plane with a lot less seats = higher fares. And before someone says Loganair should get bigger planes. Go have a look at their route network and tell me if an A320 can land in LSI 🙃
Another fantastic video. Loganair are a great airline- I truly believe that their crews are the friendliest in the skies and their inflight service is spot on for a short flight. Hope you enjoyed the Scottish hospitality. Your footage of the check-in hall at GLA is the busiest I've seen it in years- it's always like a ghost town any time I've passed through this year.
I see Logan Air flights from/to GLA every day but your film gave me a wee bit of the flight experience. The ERJ is a great looking jet but I think Logan Air needs to spend some money on this one ... new seats! On a separate note, GLA has lost out big time to EDI. Moan over.
Great. Idea, but the condition of the aircraft interior was poor. Loganair should use a turboprop aircraft, which would enable lower fares to be charged.
It is a good airline BUT massively overpriced and out of reach of many locals despite subsidies and discounts. They benefit from substantial business use which means that everyone gets to pay business rates. A sad indictment of Scotland's transport policies - just like Calmac, I'm sorry to say. Good people,, good services - but poorly integrated into the essential and affordable travel network this country needs. PS: None of this takes away from your film!
It's LOGANAIR not LOGAN AIR. That's like saying BRIT ISH AIRWAYS. Basics son. Also you have an error in the video caption where you say Depature instead of DepaRture. Please pay more attention.
Rubbish comparison British is all the one word while Loganair is used as a business name ,I am sure if there is a Logan owner they would be revered as the Logan family owners of Loganair

How much does it cost ligament to break even on that flight?

Edinburgh gets all the subsidys for airlines, bit like thre trams, Glasgow the biggest city gets nothing
Going from Stornoway to Glasgow in march £115 return 🤔
Nice Video!
I was 330 odd to Sumburgh from Glasgow the other week.
Similar to come back, and some really unhelpful stuff pulled by the Loganair check in guy there
Other option is car up to Ullapool, then a 2.5 hour ferry, makes a very long day, flight is lovely, views fantastic, but comes at a price.
Used to use them Glasgow to Southampton but pulled out . Very expensive

Yes Logan air expensive I think your ticket helps keep route u think locals on island have concession

@@geo752 But they are called Loganair and nowhere are they marketed as Logan Air so it's an easy fix. It's like saying Ame Rican Airlines. No need.

Arrogant pedantry!
Just as expensive, Edinburgh to Sumburgh, Shetland on an ATR
