Love the well thought out approach you have to prepping. Not all that, over the top, one man army macho approach. Your systems and ideas are really usefull. Definately one of the better prepping channels 👍
I just made one myself, awesome video I drive a medical transport van (dialysis patients etc.) in the ghettos of Savannah Ga and man Im glad to found your video thank you !!
You have a very nice, easy way of describing all of your gear and the way you use it, I subscribe to your way of thinking in organization. well done and please keep up the good work. thank you.
@PavlovSandor You are right! I cannot believe I forgot about my coffee. That is definitely a Tier 1, core item, something I feel queezy if I don't have. I definitely have it with me more than tiers 3-5. :) Thanks for the comment! In the summertime I will probably make another video that shows my carry system "without" a jacket (Ex: shorts/t-shirt), that might relate better to Arizona. I would melt down there. Way to hot for me.
Thanks for the comment. I prefer going with carrying 3 sizes of flashlights: a mini keychain light, a small flashlight and a full size EDC flashlight (see my latest EDC video). I find that I use all three regularly enough to warrant carrying them for a variety of purposes. Some people like to carry 3 knives, but I get more use out of 3 flashlights. :) I've looked at flashlights with more lumens but I've never really ran into a situation when one of my flashlights wasn't bright enough for a task.
Realy amazing vid! Loved the way you divided your gear and the fact that you got an EDC very similar to mine, that way I can try to organize it the way you do!! Thals so much for the inspiration, keep the great vids coming!!
@TheLeafyLane Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you liked this video. I have been carrying a tape measure in my EDC Bag for a few months now (one of the small, cheap ones from Home Depot). I have never actually needed to use it yet. I was curious if you need to use one more regularly in your profession to warrant having one on your person at all times?
One of the best EDC videos I have seen on TH-cam so far. I live in Florida, and I have never heard of the ResQMe before watching your video, so as soonest you began talking about it, I went to Amazon and bought not one or two but three of them. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
@96mrluke I love your comments! Keep them coming. Yeah, I took off the res-Q-me to help reduce the size of my keychain. I'll see if the swiss+tech utilkey fits nicely. My new EDC video will have an update on my keychain. Thanks!
@PhillyEDC Thank you for subscribing and recommendations on this EDC video! I have some other sub compact 9mm's picked out for CCW, but I've been focusing on purchasing other gear items ahead of it. I know that a lot of people on YT prefer to have a gun on them 24/7, but I guess I'm a little different. When I'm rolling around on the floor playing with my infant son, I just don't feel comfortable doing that with a gun strapped on me. I'll be coming out with another EDC video in a few months.
Nice organization. Things to add to your tier 1: some type of cloth (bandanna), some boo-boo items (alcohol wipes and bandaids) - you can easily slip this into your wallet. Small 4 or 8 GB thumb drive on the key chain. You are urban, Dude! LOL! On tier 3: A small hank of paracord (about 4 feet) will fit in that coat pocket easily . That picture of your son in your survival kit is awesome - will to survive is THE most important thing!
I like the methodical approach you use in categorising the various Tiers in building an EDC solution. A future consideration could be a small/pocket tape measure. I have not seen a reference to this in any of the EDC videos I have watched - including yours - but it is something I use to quite frequently. I have a paper tape measure - the one's you can get from a famous Swedish furniture store - and folded it over to fit in my 'Fisherman's Friend' (similar to Altoids) urban EDC tin.
@TheLeafyLane Yes, I carry my Pygmy Falcon II often. Being in WA, I wear a jacket most of the time in preparation of rain. However, even if I don't have a jacket, my EDC Backpack will always be nearby. Currently, I don't have a smaller backpack that I carry in the situations that you mentioned. When I am out with Baby Prepper, I will have my Daddy Diaper bag with me which would help me carry additional items.
@azntranc3951 I added those annotations to provide viewers with additional information on the particular items that I use (since I don't have reviews for them). Unfortunately, I am not sure how to setup the annotations to open in a new tab/window. I haven't see that as an option. I will do some Google searches to see if there's a way. Thanks for the commend!
Very good, in depth review. You were very thorough with how you presented your items. My girlfriend also said NO to fanny packs and stuff like that. Keep up the good work. Take care and God bless!
If you use all three that much that works. The tac light works well in a situation with a firearm, also it can blind and distract a potential threat. It should fit in your jacket pocket as well. As for carrying 3 knives I have one work knife, its a tool and hopefully never needed as a weapon. I do however keep two flashlights in the house in different places for when they are needed. By the way, for the altoids kit, dental floss. Amazing what it do. From a hunting safety instructor.
thx so much for the ultimate suggestions for indivualising my edc kit. Like you i' m livin' in the city, working in an office but always be prepared is most important. i' m always searching for the best high quality items (esp. titan !) greetings from germany
Thanks for the video very well done.my edc is pretty much the same also ive always heard it called a watch pocket.for pocket watches but who carrys one anymore.thanks again.
i picked the 511 COVRT 18 backpack for EDC; they are awesome! completely blends in with normal school bags and has everything you need tactical situation as well. nice video
I prefer a slim profile which is what I like about your EDC. I keep my keys carabinered to a belt loop because of the car fob + phone on the belt because it's easier to get when driving. Rescue tool seems redundant since you have a knife and gun. I carry a Bert Bees tin of vaseline, lighter (I don't smoke), tiny hand sanitizer, + small magnifying glass. I use them all a lot. I also carry a bandana + a handkerchief that are very handy when needed. Your wife sounds like a wise woman.
Great video. I loved the way you used the tiers to rate things by their importance. It was good to see a edc video without a gun being the primary tool that needs to be carried. Keep up the good work
I agree, I lived in Detroit, went to school there, worked there. I usually don't walk around with a flashlight out. They can come in handy. Pepper spray, or a gun can come in handy too. I don't carry either. I also make it a point to be picky about when and where I take my family. I'm comfortable in Detroit, when I'm alone. Even then I'm aware of my surroundings.
@weaponsandgear I like the taclite pants too. Since I only have one pair, I did not to rely on them for my carry system. Also, my wife prefers for me to wear jeans. :)
@TheLeafyLane I don't have a man pouch that I use for my EDC. I'm kind of anti fanny pack / Batman utility belt. However, if I had to chose, I would go with the Maxpedition Admin Pouch. Beast12101 has a great video on it. It's pretty sweet, and I may buy one just to try out. I tuck in my shirts a lot, so that is another reason why I try to avoid belt attachments unless they are IWB. Another option that I've looked into are the runner IWB pocket add on (Ex: Amphipod Micropack Land Sport Pack)
@thenrylee I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the input. Also, I will pass your message along to my wife. :) I know that a lot of people on YT carry a bandana, but I've never had a situation what I thought to myself "Man, I wish I had a bandana right now". Plus, if I chose the wrong color bandana I may get mistaken as a gang member in certain neighborhoods around my area and shot. :) TTYL
I'm going to chime in and add my vote to add the Gun to Tier One. A Glock 19 is an awesome gun and was my first carry piece. But looking at all the stuff you could be potentially schlepping around with you, it's pretty big. I think you could work a smaller gun into your system and put it in a more primary tier. My EDC gun is an Kimber Ultra Carry 1911. It's probably a similar weight to the Glock, but it's slimmer. I also carry less stuff than you do. Keys, phone, flashlight, knife, wallet, gun.
Nice video, I really enjoy your perspective on EDC. Regarding that tiny 5th pocket in your jeans, my understanding is that pocket was originally intended as a special pocket for a pocket watch. I think that pocket may have gotten a little smaller over the years because it's just not large enough to hold most vintage pocket watches I've seen.
Very nice setup sir, if I had one critique, I respect your decision and it's your choice I don't carry much but my firearm is definitely the one thing I'm not leaving home without. You don't use it every day but you absolutely want it to be there when you do need to use it. Again your choice just my .02 I'm sure as you get more comfortable with it, it will move up in your system. Also if I had to chose one gun the glock 19 is the perfect choice.
I think your system is well structured and thought out. If it works for you then good. As to the multiple knives again i understand that and you may not realize how many cutting tools you realy are carrying. I would recommend some cordage even if it is added as a fob to the keyring or zipper pull. The firearm is something you have to decide on in that we are not paranoid but preparing anyone who has watched the chaos after a disaster or had to hike through sparsely populated areas may disagee
Monkeyman, I believe in his Altoids survival tin he has the flash drive and the bandaids. As for the recommendation for paracord, I find that bankline is much smaller and useful for everyday tasks that one could possibly find in urban use. You can also carry more of the bankline and still not take up as much space as the paracord.
@TheUrbanPrepper Thanks for the reply. i wasn't referring to a pouch or belt att, but perhaps a small backpack like @beast12101. In particular during evenings/weekends when there aren't enough pockets and more carry space is needed; e.g. bottle of water, small camera, paperwork for a day trip or some small items when going to an amusement park or even for a large road trip. In those cases when your pockets are enough, do you then use the pygmy falcon for this as well or something else?
Taditionally the "little pocket on the right side is" designated for a zippo- or zippo like lighter because they require to be upright for them tovwork optimally, they have sence been disowned but- a tradition is a tradition- i still use them:D
@Pattas29 For some reason I always find a way of breaking or losing them. Not sure how that happens. Also, I am fairly rough on my watches so they often get banged up within a year of wearing them. Because of that, I try to keep them in the $75 or less category.
Continued. It is useful to help you "Discern" what is going on around you. That way you have more information to respond with. We are not nocturnal creatures, most people can't see well in low light situations. Even though I see well in low light naturally I still carry fairly bright flashlights because, hey I'm human.
@TheHabitatskate I know a lot of people carry this. I've never once needed it. I carry some in my backpack just in case, but again, it has never been used.
@1mizmoz1 LOL! Yeah, I think you are right about your assessment of jumpy Americans. :) I'm not afraid of my shadow, but when I am with my son I am always extra protective of him. I'm not really a gun guy like a lot of YTrs are, but having a kid has made me switch from "anti-guns" to "pro-guns" for family safety purposes.
@TheUrbanPrepper I don't specifically need it for my profession. Recent usage was in a shop trying to buy a photo frame unsure if a picture would fit inside the matte (no measurements on frame), having to use half of the content of a bottle which was not entirely full (could have guessed), centering a picture in my office on the wall and very recently measuring the size of a pothole in the road for insurance purposes after I buckled my front wheel of my car. Perhaps not everyday occasions, but..
Continued. A bright light offers ease to see whatever you need as well as a tactically defensive weapon. If you're approached by a stranger shining it in their face or back and forth between multiple people it can give you enough time to get your kids in the car, or draw a weapon if you need. Also the effects of a bright light at night effectively blinds a person temporarily. Police use this all the time with their vehicle lights and personal lights when approaching people. Continued...
I'm from Norway... It's the same thing, but I still include a knife and a leatherman in my EDC. As long as you don't wave it around, I'm sure it's not gonna be a problem :)
I gotta agree with you bro. It's more like OCD. LOL. But yeah, it's good to be prepared. I live in California, so all you'll really need is a cell phone, lighter (for weed), and water for cotton mouth.
Thank you for your 5 tier EDC video. MrsUrbanPrepper list was cute and appropriate, heavy bulky keychains can tend to be hard on car ignitions and fanny packs are outdated. Your Glock is a big gun did you you check out the M & P Shield 9mm?
with the "front little pcket on the right hand pocket of your jeens" is usualy for coins, and speaking of that I think it would be good to always have 2$ in coins of a pay phone but great video!
Being a former Seattlite and now suburban Seattlite I can understand not packing a gun everyday. Problem is the day you need it, it will be in the safe. The Glock 19 is pretty big. I have packed an XDm9 which is a heavy gun loaded in a crossbreed. I have moved to a Glock 26 with a front pocket holster. I am a big dude but it works for me. You may want to check ot a Ruger LC9 watch Hickok45 's video. It may be easier to pack. Yet still a 9mm, not a .380, keep the vids coming.
All of the comments on your videos aside I'd like to offer some thoughts on your Tier 5 EDC. The first thing that struck me was simply you are carrying too many flashlights. They take up extra space even though they are small. Also you should be ready to deal with events that may arise without light. Light may draw unwanted attention. Also if you can afford it I would say switch out your light for something with more lumens, preferably a tac light.
I have my keys on a Carabeiner, Mainly cause I don't like to have them in my pocket, but with actual utilities on it, it might be nice to have it a little more handy..
Regarding watches... I have a casio Gshock(DW-6100) which I purchased for $150 in 1996. It's still going strong on it's 3rd battery. Not the prettiest watch, but that also stops it from getting stolen :)
Do you ever take a small (man) bag with you? For instance, when it's too hot for a jacket and perhaps wearing trousers without too many pockets, and then having to carry all Tier 1/2 items plus for instance the satnav plus other non EDC related item? I use a Maxpedition Malaga+Admin Pouch+Janus for work, but during weekends a wallet, work + private Smartphone + keys + SatNav + day specific items is too much for my pockets. I have a NeatFreak but partitioning is poor and was wondering what you do
@pakifucker999999999 Very true. However, in the 11,000+ days that I've been alive I have never had to shoot someone. I hope that streak continues. :) I am on vacation right now, and I do have "Tier 5" with me at all times (reciprocity is on my side for this trip). Thanks for checking out my video. I'm sure my Tiered EDC system will change over time. I hope to chat with you more in soon.
My EDC system is the 5.11 Tact pant with the SOE EDC belt and SOG Trident wSeatBelt cutter for backup on cutting twine on bales of hay. For the shirt pocket the Streamlight Stylus flashlight that uses three AAAA batteries. One or two Zebra F-701 with Fisher Space pen ink refills and eye glass case w/bifocals. For a hat wear a boney hat for sun protection and rain maybe five inches a year in NM. For when leave home a Sportsman Wharehouse Guide Vest for the pockets and to carry the wallet for IDs and useually no cash in it. For the Key Ring some detachable keys (mail box or car keys), London Bobby Whistle from Lands End Outlet one year a long time ago and a Swiss Key Tool (not allowed in Court Bldg.). And dangle the keys from an ASP Key Defender to keep the keys out of the pocket so can have more EDC stuff. Just some of the main EDC items. Keep up the good work. Eyes UP and lights down, tjl Sent by Win7Pro64 w/ADSL
Just curious you said you don't need a gun everyday... How can you tell which days you'll need one and which days you won't? I applaud your choice of the Glock 19, great pistol. Why not add a Ruger LCD to your Tier 1?
Good vid. Recommend a smaller firearm and bumping it to tier 1. G19 is pretty hefty for EDC. Why pick which days you have life insurance? I would also lean out the keys and wallet, and bump the knife to tier 1 as well, but that's just me. Lol, "primary knife for human flesh only" made me laugh. Cheers.
As a dad with two boys I understand being extra aware and protective. But if you plan to carry a gun you need to come to terms with one thing; Can you kill someone? To carry a gun you must be ready to draw it, get the safety off and shoot it with the intent of killing. If not it is worthless. Also protecting your children also means protecting yourself. Remember, if you die who will protect your child. You need to decide to either carry a gun or not. If not you will need another strategy
Hey. Good walktrough with the tiers. I like to be prepared when im about to. I live in Finland and we dont have big crime and guns are not allowed. Are crime that massive in the us that guns are a must (other edc-vids) Im gonna move to NewYork to work for half a year next summer, should i get a gun straight away when i get of the plane? Is crime that bad?? I will bring my family along and i am seriosly concerned about our trip. Any advice and tips are appreciated. Cheers
Interesting that you have other people's videos and external websites linked in your video via annotations. It would be better if you could change the links / annotations so that whenever the link is clicked, a new page or tab opens :)
@INFIDELxSTRONG Just sent you a private message with more details. In short, "yes, I agree with you". Give me more time. I'm still a newbie. :) Thank you for the comment! Let's talk more!
My gun and my wallet are my most important items no matter what! Especially with my wife and son. When in a hurry i only grab those two things all other shit is a luxury, a gun is a necessity!
sir i love watching ur videos. i was wondering if u can make an edc for 13 year olds or ranging around that age. if you dont think its appropiate then i understand.
PS Your wife is correct about "fanny packs"... they are the pocket protectors for gear dweebs. I'm sure people will argue - and geeks argue for pocket protectors too! :o)
excellent video. however let me say this, if you're going to carry concealed it should be every chance you have. you don't want to say you're not going to use the gun that day & that be the day someone mugger holds you up while you're loading groceries in your car at the store. shit happens when we don't expect it. you may even want to think about investing in a lighter weight pocket pistol. i know you're knew, i just wanted to share an opinion. either way it's your call. thanks for sharing.
Most of that just tells people that you've spent way to much money on flashlights. Your mindset and your attitude are your most important things in any situation.
Love the well thought out approach you have to prepping. Not all that, over the top, one man army macho approach. Your systems and ideas are really usefull.
Definately one of the better prepping channels 👍
I'm pretty new to prepping. Your videos are awesome. love the info. Keep it up
Great EDC, Man. Well thought out, and organised. Love your philosophy and approach to your systems. Keep up the great work.

great logical system for normal clothing wear, great points in the beginning

@GadgetStalker LOL! Your "1 day lecture" comment really cracked me up. I'm glad you liked this video of my EDC. :)
very professional, and well thought out, nice video
that was very helpful thank you
Awesome video
Being Obsessive Compulsive and Prepping seem to go hand in hand. :)
Great EDC video, very realistic and I like the TIER system a lot!

@therianstrauss Thanks! I never would have wanted one before having a kid.
The "little pocket" is known as a watch pocket. That's where people used to keep their pocket watch before wrist watches were popular.

@Crombie531 Yes. That and the PF9. Still not sure...
I have the exact flashlight and resqme tool on my keychain. Got resumes for the whole family
Great vid....lo
I cant bear having stuff in my pockets, so I like the idea of the batman belt :)
My wife was the same way till a woman got killed up the road from us. She still doesnt like the pants. So i feel you on that nice vid peace bro

@mattbruder505 LOL! Thanks. I was wondering if anyone would notice it :)
I also live in Seattle and I carry chap stick and a bandanna.
Its called a watch pocket. many moons ago, before the wrist watch became popular they carried a pocket watch in that small pocket.
I have my keys on a Carabeiner, Mainly cause I don't like to have them in my pocket, but with actual utilities on it, it might be nice to have it a little more handy..
overall great vid thanks for sharin!
I have a NeatFreak but partitioning is poor and was wondering what you do
I actually laughed out loud at "Tactical friendship bracelet."

Are crime that massive in the us that guns are a must (other edc-vids)
Im gonna move to NewYork to work for half a year next summer, should i get a gun straight away when i get of the plane?
Is crime that bad??
I will bring my family along and i am seriosly concerned about our trip.
Any advice and tips are appreciated.
Cheers
Interesting that you have other people's videos and external websites linked in your video via annotations. It would be better if you could change the links / annotations so that whenever the link is clicked, a new page or tab opens :)
Usually it's legal with blades that are under 6 inches, at least here in Texas, but you need a licence for larger blades.
Tier 5 is gun, I wish I had the option to even carry, being in Illinois that is. I would move it up to 3 at least
@INFIDELxSTRONG Just sent you a private message with more details. In short, "yes, I agree with you". Give me more time. I'm still a newbie. :)
Thank you for the comment! Let's talk more!
My gun and my wallet are my most important items no matter what! Especially with my wife and son. When in a hurry i only grab those two things all other shit is a luxury, a gun is a necessity!
You should give the GShock a try if you didn't lose it they will last you really well
Kids make you want a gun... hahahaha love the videos the way that sounded was sooo funny! thanks man.
sir i love watching ur videos. i was wondering if u can make an edc for 13 year olds or ranging around that age. if you dont think its appropiate then i understand.
you can ccw in seattle? ..i may need to relocate
great stuff btw.
Very similar to my EDC except a pen would be tier 1 for me, and a lighter at least tier 2.
Most of that just tells people that you've spent way to much money on flashlights. Your mindset and your attitude are your most important things in any situation.
