  • Here's why the founder Carter G. Woodson created Black History Month and how it's different today than he originally planned.

    February marks the start of Black History Month, a federally recognized celebration of the contributions African Americans have made to this country and a time to reflect on the continued struggle for racial justice.
    Black History Month has become one of the most celebrated cultural heritage months on the calendar, said LaGarrett J. King, an associate professor of social studies education at the University of Missouri.
    Schools and businesses offer Black-history-themed meals, lectures, plays and quizzes while major brands roll out clothing, television specials and content for consumers, which can sometimes come off as tone-deaf, particularly when presented without context.

    Quick gem!
    To ALL my 🇨🇺🇩🇴🇵🇷 massive, it starts with Us!!!! WE ARE NOT LATINO/HISPANIC/SPANISH, for WE do not lie within Latin America, WE ARE children of the AFRICAN DIASPORA, and Spanish is a (European) LANGUAGE. We’re simply and technically “The Caribbean, or The Spanish Caribbean” by linguistic specifications. We have to understand and LIVE BY TRUTH, which includes the fact that we were first purposely uncultivated in many ways so that we can be as lost and misinformed, and ultimately taken advantage of (Spanish/U.S. colony) as much as we are today. Like English and french patois, we have Spanish patois. More of a Creole (Criollo/a), if you will. It’s only HARD TO SEE and say when blind folded by indoctrination. This was used, AND IT WORKED, to divide and conquer. WE ARE AS CARIBBEAN AS THE REST OF OUR BROTHAS AND SISTAS. Bless n love! 🇵🇷🇩🇴🇨🇺🇯🇲🇭🇹🇻🇮🇦🇬🇧🇧🇩🇲🇬🇩🇬🇾🇰🇳🇱🇨🇹🇹
    Like the English, French and Dutch Caribbean, the Spanish Caribbean is no different in being children of Africa, a.k.a. The African diaspora. With just about 85% of Cuban, Dominican and Puerto Rican food and Culture heavily derives from our African and/or mixed African roots, it wasn’t until the mid 1980-1990’s that restaurant signs on the islands themselves, particularly Puerto Rico, began to “swop out” and adopt our comida criollo/a (creole food), to the more euro-American terms, lantino/a, Spanish, and Hispanic food. Hence the reason for most people outside of our homeland/islands use these white washed, adopted (pushed) terms, versus our original and intended ones. To this day on my beautiful island their are still some who hold on to our true heritage and have refused to submit to the derogatory terms (Latino/a, Hispanic, Spanish) that were pushed on our people and culture, intentionally designed to diminish our Afro-indigenous roots from who we’ve always been. Simply, loud and proud… AFRO-CARIBBEAN!!!

    I believe that there shouldn't be a LGBTQ or black history month.
    I believe that there should be a American history month where they teach about Americans. Like, black Americans and how they got there freedoms, there success, and accomplishments. I believe we should teach about how Jews became successful in America. How white people became successful in America, and Mexicans, Asians, and so on.
    We're not called the United States because of our states, but because God wanted us to be united not divided. I think it's time for, Black, White, Jewish, Asian, Mexican, and so on to be united and not divided.

    Impending Judgment on the Earth
    24 Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste,
    Distorts its surface
    And scatters abroad its inhabitants.
    2 And it shall be:
    As with the people, so with the priest;
    As with the servant, so with his master;
    As with the maid, so with her mistress;
    As with the buyer, so with the seller;

    4 The earth mourns and fades away,
    The world languishes and fades away;
    The haughty people of the earth languish.
    5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants,
    Because they have transgressed the laws,
    Changed the ordinance,
    Broken the everlasting covenant.
    6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth,
    And those who dwell in it are desolate.
    Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned,
    And few men are left.
