    February has marked the celebration of Black History Month for almost half a century - an annual observance that recognizes the achievements and contributions of Black Americans. But without historian and author Carter G. Woodson, who devoted much of his life to shining a light on Black history, the celebration might not exist. Woodson did not let the persecution and obstacles he faced throughout his life stop him from becoming the esteemed, groundbreaking historian who founded Negro History Week, which today is known as Black History Month.

    I swear between 1926 and 76 that’s when we put much effort into expand our history. But now for some reason we just stop fighting.

    I just love how our BLACK men and women devoted so much of their time and effort into EDUCATION.... it makes me so proud, and is also a motivating force for myself to keep going in life!

      My Mother instilled that in me and my Father was insistent that I attend an HBCU because not only did they want me to pursue an education but they wanted it to be cultivated by the Black American Experience. I’m so grateful that they guided me to love myself and to love our people 🤎🤎🤎
