Hi dear, I have bought that DVD when I was in Nagaland 2 years ago. I wanted to know if you know anyone who could translate the song. Is it a song dedicated to millets? I look forward to hearing from you. Best, Mickael from Paris
Ok I will get the translation from the artist and send you. The song is not on millet specific. Can you share me your email id
@@peterthopi Hi dear sorry I thought I replied but it didn't work. Thank you so much for your reply. This is my email id: inayatealym@gmail.com. Keep me posted sooo much. Is it possible to have it in the Tribal language (and please mention which tribe) and the english translation. Thank you sooo much!
thank you for sharing this very informative video!
I had one question, what were the other crops that were also cultivated in the traditional jhum cultivation farms? There was one reference to reviving not just millets but other vegetables. Can you share some insights on what other vegetables were cultivated?
Thank you for viewing our video .
As stated in the video, traditionally millets are cultivated along with other vegetables- that was the traditional practise of cultivating millets. On an average 30-40 types of crops are cultivated along with millets in jhum fields. To name some- maize (3-4 varieties), beans (5-6 varieties), chilly, pumpkin, ash pumpkin, cherry tomato, basil, sesame, brinjal, bitter ball, cucumber, gourd, varieties yam and so on. Monocropping and increased use of market seeds have threatened local communities in losing out the traditional/indigenous varieties of seeds. With the revival of millet cultivation- it directly promotes diverse cultivation practice and securing seed diversity.
We're grateful for the video, Peter, having screened this along with a few other short NEN documentaries at a recent workshop that we'd conducted at the Farmers' Innovation Centre g.page/blf-fic, with NEN's permission. We're an NGO based in Tuensang and have been working for over a decade to collectivize the farmers and raise levels of prosperity.
Will you please share more information on where in Tuensang district we may procure foxtail millet seeds?
Thank you.
