      Rob, mate i was asked to go to a rifle practice shoot, back in 2020 and i was expecting like older weapon system, but in fact it was F Class shooting practice, anyway, they let me shoot 20 rounds at various distance and my first shoot in over 40 years i do not hold a shooters or rifle licence at all and my first shoot at 800 yards with 7.62 x 51 was 38/50 and then at 1,200 yards it was 48/50 and thats with a 5.56 round as well, i understand the rifles and weapon systems are very advanced and expensive, the the 1,200 yard shoot, was with standard 5.56 rifle no special barrel, sure a good scope and custom loads, but for someone who has not shoot any weapon system for over 40 years i guess getting taught by the military how to shoot when i was only 14 years old paid off, which i told them that i was in the cadets and shoot the AU SLR at 400 yards with iron sights and my score was 98/100. cheers keep up the great wok Rob, always looking forward to your uploads and all the best for X mas in 2023 and all the best for the new year in 2024. 🙌🙌✌✌🦘🦘👍👍.

    300 yards is nothing for that rifle. We Swiss shoot at 300m with iron sights as standard. An acquaintance of mine was a sniper in the Swiss army with this rifle, They were required to shoot to 800m and not be found by ground troops. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

      Been to CH, ya'll live in a beautiful country, have an amazing and also beautiful culture. I spent a little time there several years ago, and saw the soldiers carrying around their bad-ass, sexy as hell Sig 550 rifles, and have been in love with those firearms ever since. I wish our military used the Sig 550. Some years back, Sig-Saur's USA branch released an American version of the 550 called the Sig 556, and it was/is a complete and total injustice/embarrassment/hell... an all-out INSULT to what the 550 is. They priced them a 4-times what an AR-15 costs, and cut the quality of the (usually stellar) Sig-Saur manufacturing. It's a well-known flop that should have... and could have had some success in an American gun market dominated by only one type of semi-automatic modular tactical-style hunting and target rifle in the AR-15. All that to say, yeah... you Swiss know your shit.

    Very nice Rob, I truly enjoyed watching! Actually, I am Swiss and shoot various rifles with the 7.5x55 chambering. You may be aware that the GP11 production had been stopped for quite some years and has now restarted in 2017. Initial 2017 batches seemed to have some issues (at least according to some shooters) with especially some flyers being found in some batches. At most shooting ranges in Switzerland we now get the 2019 batches and they seem to be more stable. I still also have some 1987 batches. I actually just shot last September the same PPU that you used aside with a 1987, a 2017, a 2018 and a 2019 batches of GP11 with my Steyr CISM (with a Leupold Mark 5) on the "regular" 300 m range and all those cartridges including the PPU scored well below 1 MOA 5 shot groups (even with the rifle getting hotter, I did not let it cool down). So, just to confirm to you that also that PPU ammo is indeed really OK and shd be able to do below 1 MOA within this beautiful machinery! 🙂

    Swiss Army had sniper rifles before, based on the K31. The optics were strange, more like the ZF41 from the Germans, but mount in the back, not in the front like the Germans did.
    They were called zfk 31/42 & 31/43.

      I've shot tracers in each of 5.56, 7.62x51, and 50 BMG, one after the other, on a range hundreds of meters. The difference is huge. The math doesn't lie, but it's still dramatic to see in person. As for Australia, 3D printer go brrrr. Can't stop the signal. I'm not sure I'd be so bold without the huge amount of plausible deniability here in the US, but options exist.

    *No Shock here. I'm not aware of any Vintage Swiss Military Rifle that wasn't/isn't a great shooter, which is why the surviving examples are so expensive...The Swiss have always turned great barrels. The 7.5x55, 7.62x52 & 7.62x 54R are all pretty much different versions of the same cartridge & inherently very stable, accurate cartridges* 🔥🔥
    *That said...Calling a ZFK a K31 is more than a little disingenuous. The K31 might have served as the inspiration for the ZFK action but that's pretty much where the similarity ends.*
    *P.S. Merry Christmas from West Nebraska, USA* 🎅👋

    Nice shooting and rifle. I looked for one on line definitely out of my price range and for that kind of money $5k to $7K I could build you the best of the best F-Class or PRS or Tactical rifle. Mark, it's hard to really "put the finger" on something like this. Any of those old school sniper rifles price wise is out of the game vs "modern" rifles, when you compare Bang for Money paid...Having an ability to adjust the stock on most of the modern rifles anyway you want, alone is a huge win for the shooter...that being said, it's always fascinating to me what really you can squeeze out from those old work horses...I wish they could cost less, but it is what it is...

    Fantastic video Rob, thanks a lot for making it. I live in Switzerland so we occasionally see those on the range, in fact I had the chance to try one at 300 meters. I knew it was a good and accurate rifle, but it seems even better than that (and your skills also never fail to impress). Happy new year.

    Amazing rifle. Saw one in New Zealand going for $8,500 ($NZ), which is why I only looked at it!

    Once again, you prove that it’s never the violin, but the violinist who makes beautiful music. Excellent work, Rob! Merry Christmas!

    Also - how would that rifle shoot with a modern scope?! Brilliant performance all things considered.

    Merry Christmas my friend. I love your show. I see a lot of times I love that rifle the Swiss rifle. I like the loading and unloading the quickness. It's not up-and-down just straight back-and-forth. Swiss makes very good weapons !!!💪💪💪👍👍

      Some of the P&R Era S&W had grips that color. My dad had a S&W MOD 19 Target wit grips that color. I like them much better than the darker color ones.

    • @superbug1977
      @superbug1977 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Some of the S&W revolvers were treated to yellow maple grips--very beautiful. Maybe not always maple, though. Not really sure. I'm not even sure where to begin looking.@@CharlesRushing-ck2qm

    With a modern scope can you still use stripper clips? Great job shooting, a rifle can be as accurate as it can, but it's still needs a marksman behind it. And that sir would be you! ❤❤❤

    • @rslover65
      @rslover65 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The action is actually rotated to the right in the stock, allowing the stripper clips to work and the scope being directly above the bore. Swiss genius.
