People can debate GOAT status til the end of time, but there is no tennis player I’d rather watch than Roger. It’s just such beautiful tennis. Incredible shot diversity, precision placement, power and depth on both sides, creating angles that mere mortal players can only dream about, total understanding of court geometry, every spin imaginable, it goes on and on. To me watching Roger play is like getting a glimpse of true perfection in an otherwise imperfect universe. Thank you Raz for this incredible compilation.
@@matthewwilliams3827 Are you being funny? Two of the slams are grass (Wimbledon) and clay (The French Open). If you are making a joke, I don't get it.
@@MarkGuy-h4y I meant if two of the slams were grass or clay instead of two hardcourt slams, AO and USO. Or if it was just three slams, one grass, one clay, one hardcourt.
Very well said and spot on 👍 I couldn't have said it any better than you just did! I'm a 65 year old white guy in the US Midwest and used to play a fair amount of recreational tennis in my youth. I don't watch any other sports on TV except for tennis, no other sport comes close IMHO 😁
Yes there will never be another Roger Federer! We'll be getting hit with a meteor that will destroy our species before 2070. There is simply no getting around it. Fed's the most artistic and talented human to ever play lawn tennis, but he couldn't beat Rafa in Paris!!!
I do agree with this. The Fed was super FUN to watch, for players and non-players alike. Most players you cannot say this about, even if they're super talented. McEnroe was another player who i found fun to watch. Interesting that Johnny Mac was one of Federer's favorite players. "Birds of a feather" perhaps ....
@@abradfordajb : He also was a fan of Sampras and Edberg. Sampras was his idol and even started his career using the same original Wilson Pro Staff that Sampras used.
The variety that Federer played these points with tells you everything you need to know about him as a player. There are different angles, pace, depth, drive volleys... defense to offense etc. Every point is different from the next! A compilation with Djokovic, every point will basically look the same. I know who my goat is and he's not from Serbia.
Exactly. That's why he's the GOAT. He could do anything and everything. I think it was Stan Wawrinka who once said practicing with Roger depressed him because Roger can do anything he wants on a tennis court - anything at all. I remember after a Wimbledon match one year Roger was asked about his hardest serve and he said he can hit in the 140mphs. The reporter asked why he didn't do it in matches and Roger said he preferred accuracy and consistency. Ouch.
Nice video, I felt that allowed many possible comparison elements between Federer's plays move-by-move, one move ahead. The genius of killing points, which costed both positive and negative turns in his career. But also a very nice demonstration of how tennis rallies should feel or ever be. Simply genius at work!!
*Federer vs Delpo* is one of those sneaky rivalries that nobody really talks about. Two of the biggest forehands in history going at it, made for Great Tennis
Amazing. Thank you! Your video genius exceeded only by Roger’s shotmaking. And his movement becomes more like ballet as the points get longer. So beautiful and timeless to watch❤
Great video concept. Love how every other point is a serve or return point. Nice mix of “top ten/rival” points and other folks. Is every one a clean winner point?
Another amazing long rally: against Djokovic Wimbledon 2019 final, fourth set, Federer serving for the set (5-2) and 30-40, break point for Djokovic. Incredible because Roger took a very long one (35 shots)
The way Federer played tennis, not even Nadal or Djokovic could do. Not even Alcaraz or Sinner. He was on another level, quality wise. So effortless, so artistic. No other player comes close. And before you tell me Djokovic is the Goat, let me remind you that Nole was lucky in the way that he was young enough to be in the circuit with the next gen, and steal Slams from them. The Next Gen was never good enough and barely earned any Grand slams, until Alc and Sinner showed up. There is luck in that.
Djokovic so lucky that there was no younger threat for about 2 tennis generations. That is the reason why the era of the big 3 went for so long. Djokovic had the advantage of being the youngest and injury free when his rivals limped towards the end of their careers. Even Murray, who might have been able to challenge his reign at the top had his career cut short.
As someone born in the later millennial era… how can you find joy in modern day tennis when you were brought up on this era. Federer artistry vs Nadal and Djokovic’s brutal desire to win and granite technique supersedes almost all sporting viewing. To have that for 15 or so years, it’s hard to imagine we’ll see it again.
The only point he loses is the longest one, and that's where he smiles, as if, in the end, the joy of playing took over, like a kid who's just there to have fun. If that’s what you were going for, great choice!
And all these, almost all, end with point Federer. Imagine all the long rallies that end with Federer losing, they are gems as well, like the last one..
This man is from another planet whenever I see him play even the same point same match and Never ending replays ... I never get bored He is such a Gem ❤❤❤
Just imagine if Rafa wasn't around or isn't the great clay courter that we have come to know. Roger could have won 10 GS in a row and that would have included 2 calendar year Grand Slam back-to-back. That 2008 Wimbledon final marked Federer's total dominance. So many close matches that Federer lost to his biggest 2 rivals, so many what ifs ...

Rallies are boring as fk. That's why Roger still has 10 times more fans than Djok even after retirement. If your game is so fun to watch, then maybe you can make rallies exciting too. But for most players on tour, their game is so dull and lifeless. They should be comparing who's rallies are shorter, at least that way they bored the audience less, not longer.
