Post grad depression solidarity ✊ You're not alone (and thankfully now, neither am I lmao) but I graduated may 2020 with an art history degree unfortunately in a smaller area with little to no opportunities even remotely related to art/museum work. I am employed but struggling to break out of the food service jobs and it really just feels like I'm stuck here. The job searching can be so disheartening. I even got rejected from a local public library assistant job bc I didnt have previous experience working in a library lol. Just graduated earlier this year and have been in the workforce for about 7 months full time. If I could go back, I’d tell myself to slow down and enjoy my time more. I’d also tell myself that I needed to choose a field that reflects the kind of lifestyle I want to live. I would have chosen something that is a couple 12 hour shifts a week. More days off, but longer hours. Instead of Mon-Friday… 9-5. I’m in legal.

I got an MBA, thought it would help but nope. Nada. I never make it past interviews cause of no exp. But this begs the question: How am I supposed to get exp if everyone keeps rejecting me? I actually saw that they gave a position I was applying for to someone else today and I'm in an extremely foul mood hence why I'm here. I relate to this so much changed unis so many times because of covid and I failed my first year of uni and had to reapply and I finally passed and got above average grades but it took a whole year away from me I still have 3 more years left and I’ll graduate at 23 and I’m honestly worried No one will hire me cause I honestly feel like they will ask why it took me so long to graduate keep in mind I finished high school at 17 and I’m 20 now. I feel honestly insecure about the fact that most of my friends have already graduated while I’m still stuck here cause I was so overwhelmed about what to study when I finished high school. I never got to go abroad to study either, still in the same city where I grew up. My parents are hard on me as well I’ve been overweight most of my life and I always here that I’m lazy or sleep too much or I’m unthankful even though I know I work my ass off to make sure I can prove them wrong but it honestly demotivates me and always slows me down. Anyone who reads this I hope you find what you are looking for and don’t feel stuck and useless. Everyone has good potential as well as a lot of different talents + skills but unfortunately don’t have the privilege of moral support and guidance that they need.
