I'm not sure where the custom comes from but I'm Irish -American and we also put coins in food for New Year's. We put one of each coin into boiled cabbage and how much the coin is determines how prosperous you will be for the new year. It's also a sneaky way to get kids to eat their cabbage
To the people complaining about Carbon Copies couple on each episode, what good will that do? Just face it that the previous cast member on this show will not come back(maybe as guests but you know what I mean). Please keep the dislikes to yourself and stop polluting this whole comment section with complaints about them and enjoy the show instead. Yo!!!! i never knew they gave children money on holidays too. In Cameroon when we had our muslim celebrations, my uncles always gave me money which always made me happy of course. then my mom says she will keep it for me but i never see the money again lol. When i ask for it she usually says :"So all the food i have been making for you is not enough?" So i feel bad and just forget about the money. I love her though lol :-)

It's always fascinating when people on these shows say it's been however long to go back home for a visit. South Korea isn't that big (about as big as California from the Central Valley to the Mexican border). And it doesn't take that long to get to places by car or train. But they are also almost always forthcoming saying they always make excuses to not go. It must be stressful for them to visit family.

Yes, I'm in CA. The distance from Seoul to Busan is close to Santa Barbara County to San Diego. That's only a 3 hour drive. Add in that South Korea has KTX which is cheaper an seems 1000x better than our Amtrak, I don't get it. To travel the length of the country is akin to San Diego to San Francisco. I get with rehearsing, photoshots and extra jobs outside their main ones, that they are really busy. But the one who say they mostly just sit at home, I think there's another reason they don't go home.
