Your video really helped me decide whether to open a store! One thing though, about your math on the starter store - if a non-store and a starter store both get 250 listings as standard, wouldn't the costs be equal on your 99th extra listing, factoring in the initial $4.95 and the $.05 difference paid for each extra listing? That would mean your 100th extra listing is when you would start paying more for not having a store.
Justin, thanks for sharing that with me. Unfortunately, I made a mistake in calculating the first tier store (starter). Although I recommend most frequent ebayers to just get a store if they don't have one, it almost makes more sense to just jump to a Basic store rather than even messing with the starter. Cheers! Jason
Thank you for the breakdown. I'm just getting serious about making my store my main gig, and was close to settling at starter as a treat for making it a year, but Basic looks to be my bag for now. Be well!
Just came across this video when looking for information on ebay stores; we have been contemplating for a while; still not sure because with a subscription (non store) we can still do promotions, put store away, and lower our prices by $ or % amount; guess the main delta is the listing fee reduction, ebay supplies credits and sending out coupons etc. Thank you for the information.
In all the years of selling, I was never aware of a coupon or stipend to use towards shipping supplies. Now I need to call them and recoup or at least begin getting some of the perks. Thank You
When comparing Non Vs Starter you state that someone should switch to Starter if they seller more then 265, this is wrong because 15 * .35 = 5.25 but if someone was using the starter it would be 15 * .30 + 4.95 = 9.45. If someone uses over 350 listings it would be worth it to switch to a starter store. Because 100 * .35 = 35 and for starter it’s 100 * .30 + 4.95 = 34.95.
@@jasonmhayes I completely agree it is worth it to jump to a starter store just for the benefits. With all due respect, your math is 100% incorrect. At least in the way you're presenting it. You fail to mention that you're still paying $4.50 for the 15 listings after upgrading. You're saving 75 cents on those 15 listings while tacking on $4.95 for the store. So, at 265 listings, you're going from spending $5.25 for the extra 15 listings to $9.45 for a Starter Store with 265 listings. So, saying it's "worth it" is incorrect. It's not worth it until the 5 cents per listing you're saving covers the cost of the store. So, you're not saving money until you're listings are above 350. UNLESS! You're just doing it to have store benefits. lol. At that point, it's worth it to sling an extra $5 at eBay. If you're getting a store to save money on insertion fees, the starter store makes no sense in any situation.
@@jasonmhayes I have to agree with Connor on this. You are not comparing against the basis which is .35c. You are calculating based on 0 cost on the upgraded store level. From no store to basic, you need to compare 30c against 35c which is 5c. It takes 99 listings to make that math work. From Basic to the next level, you need to divide $17 by 5c (the difference) which is actually 340 items.
Great video. I've been paying the 59 for a premium and only list 350 listing a month, looks like I need to downgrade to the basic store. Been over paying now for about 3 years. Thanks for breaking this all down!
I may be confused. I don't have an eBay store subscriptions, but I can promote listings, use the seller dashboard, and switch to VACA mode. As far as I can tell the only feature I can't do is a marketing percentage sale discount. I only list about 60-80 listings/month now as a part-time seller. I've been trying to justify an ebay store subscription, but still haven't justified it yet.
When u do a sale can you pick which items are on sale or is it whole store? Also the promoted listing are they automatically promoted and what is the cost of promoting items. This video has given me more questiins than answers 3 minutes in....
Awesome info! Thanks so much for dumming it down for us-keep this good work up and you won't need ebay any longer. You'll become a full time educational tuber-you! Enjoy!
Very informative Jason, trying to learn all I can before jumping in.Waiting on Amz, they are making ir harder for us.Ok , new to all this stuff, so by listings you mean sales correct? Let's say you list 2 items, if you sell those 2 and it automatically re-lists you're down 2 listings from the 250 correct? So listings is like total sales/transactions? Thank you again. Just subscribed.
Great video. Your video really helped me figure out which store is right for me and at what point I should move up in my eBay store subscription. Thanks again!
Question, if you don't mind: If I don't have a store, then what does my "inventory base" look like? Say, if I only have 100 or so items to sell, will they all be viewable on one site, or will they just sort of be randomly out there in the ether? Thanks!
Excellent job! I just downgraded from Premium to Basic. I have undee 900 Listings and never realuzws I was o erpaying. I was actually going to Cance because I will be our of tge countrt for 99 days. I will have to call EBay to push Vacatiin Mode (Time Away) from 30 to 90 days... it's only allowing me 30days.
At the end of the day the listing doesn't fuckin matter. What matters is the item limits, and you start off with 5 items or $500 a month. And they refuse to raise it no matter the positive feed back or production. You're only real option is to upgrade to a business account.
Hi Jason. Cool video and channel. Just to be clear, I fall under the Non category, but I thought financially it made sense at 349 listings since both the Non and Starter give you the same amount, 250. Unless you care about the perks, then it may make sense sooner. So only the 5 cents need to be multiplied by the additional listings (on top of the free 250), not the entire 30 or 35 cents. In other words, once you reach 99 (extra listings) x .05 = $4.95 is when the math to justify a starter store kicks in. Is that right, or do we actually get 500 free listings (250 free + 250 on top for the starter store) with a starter store? Thanks!
Casey, Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate your comment and taking the time to respond. In regards to the "math" behind my calculations, you actually do have to take into account the full price for each additional listing. You pay 35 cents extra per listing, so how many of those added up will reach the $4.95 total cost. Thats how I came to the response that I did. You are correct in taking the other "perks" into consideration. It may justify pulling the trigger sooner, rather than later. Hope this helps! Best of luck
Thanks, Jason, and I think you and your channel are awesome...just not too sure I follow, because you would still need to spend, on everything over 250 (for both Non and Starter) .30 and .35 cents.... that's whether you go over 15 listings or 100 listings, the only difference is .05 cents. Sorry if I'm making no sense here, but for me, the most important question is whether you get 250 or 500 free listings with the Starter store, and I gather you only get 250 (same as Non) which then really I would have to be at 349 before it makes sense to upgrade. Thanks for making my brain work, and I may still upgrade soon anyways for the other perks. Have a great week and may your store have a good one too!
@@caseygutierrez5349 Your math is correct. With a starter store you still only get 250 free listings. At 63 listings over 250 with a non store, you're spending the amount a Basic store would cost and gain an additional 750 free listings. The starter store is pointless if your intention is to use it to save on insertion fees. I think he hasn't accounted for the fact that you're still paying $4.50 on those 15 listings even after you pay $4.95 for the store. You're doubling your cost if you upgrade to a starter store at 265 listings.
@@dustinfreeman9882 much appreciated! I thought something was off. Thanks for the clarification. So the Starter store makes sense if you are going after the extra perks or if you are listing way more than 250...since both Non and Starter have the same 250 free listings to begin with...as opposed to the other higher levels which actually give you free listings increase 👍 Pointless is a good word if you are only going after the free listings. Thanks again.
If you keep listing fixed price every month and get up to say 600 fixed price listing are you charged for the extra 350 per month if they are just fixed price? And then start trying to sell them auction style with the available 250 free listings a month?
Thanks Jason! Can you clarify for me: If you get 250 listings WITHOUT a store and then you jump to the STARTER store do you get an ADDITIONAL 250 listings for a total of 500 or is it the same 250 listings? Also, since eBay automatically renews your fixed listings each month, it's my understanding that this counts toward your free listings. So, if you have 250 listings up and they renew once a month, you've quickly eaten up ALL your free listings which doesn't leave you any room to list new items or "end & sell similar". Am I understanding this correctly? Your wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Hey! You would get 250 for the starter store total... not additional. Yes, you are correct, each time an item is relisted, no matter whether sell similar/relist, it still counts as one listing of your allotment. Thanks for reaching out!
Also why do you say when you have that many listing on your store compared to posting that many a month? I post 250 each month and they just roll over to the next? Or do they take up slots in the next month? If they don't sell?
Pierre, you are exactly right. Everytime an item doesn't sell and gets relisted on ebay you use 1 listing from your allotment. Thats why I have a suggest the store levels that I do. You have to factor those items that don't sell as well as the items you're adding.
Wow, thank u so, so much!!!! I have watched A LOT of videos trying 2 figure out if I need a store, then which store, etc. My life is so stressful right now (has been & will continue 2 be) I have not been able 2 set aside time 2 do basic math 2 figure this out. I have told myself & my family I have 2 get this done for weeks if not months now. You explained it so much clearer & with so much detail, u put these other Ebay store videos 2 shame. It was so easy 2 understand & I hope I'm not the only who needs this issue laid out this way or else I'm going 2 be confused. I feel really dumb now 🤪 not only do I need a store, I need the Basic store right off the jump, skipping this Starter one 😂 Anyway, TY so much!! I feel like a huge burden has been lifted & I know exactly what I need to do & why I need 2 do it. I appreciate it so much & the fact u made it so anyone could understand & not feel like I'm missing something. Now that I see the formula of coming up with the correct numbers, I feel confident that I will be able to go up or down in my store subscriptions depending on my specific number of listings, etc. Wish I could give the video 100 👍
Leah, thanks for the generous review!! I am so glad it helped and the main reason why I make videos like this: to help others get going in their business. Best of luck with your store. I agree with you, skip the starter and jump to the basic. You're going to crush it!
When you get the lowest store, do you get the free 250 listings plus an additional 250 listings? Or the same 250 listings plus the additional perks? Also, does a store lower transaction fees?
How do you have the aptitude to list 10,000 items?!? It takes me an hour to list just 6 or 8 items. Now mind you all my items are used and quite specific and I usually need to take new pics everytime
Thank you for putting this out there in an easy to understand matter. I have been considering upgrading to a store but haven't had the time to sit and do the math. Thanks for doin the math for me!
You have to have a team i feel to push out 1k listings a month im trying to make my 250 ea h month I just love the features so do I just get the basic i only think ill do is 350 400 liatings a month
Thank you so much! I am trying to decide if the savings in fees are worth moving up to a basic from starter store so I can list more but that is a big jump in monthly fee. OK. The first example is only a difference of 5 cents for each listing over 250, Between starter and basic, so it makes sense only if they are listing 250 + 99. But ebay takes a different amount as a percentage of sales between starter and basic, also the free ship supplies... Maybe you speak on these parts but I am over halfway through... I want to know how much in sales makes the difference in store costs null due to the less percentage taken by ebay.
You are correct on the lower final value fees for the basic. I know it is more each month, but I almost think its worth it to just upgrade to the basic level. What you get for only a little more each month is worth it in my opinion. Hope that helps :)
I'm at the starter store. I am thinking about moving to basic. Right now I have about 650 listings. All are auctions except 3. I think with basic I get 250 auction style listings. 1. In the basic store if I go over 250 auction listings what happens? 2. Should I convert all to a fixed listing? 3. Are fixed listings renewed every 30 days until sold? 4. Let's say I have 650 fixed listings. When they renew monthly will that leave me with 350 to list?
Quinton, great question.. let me answer in order. 1. If you go over the allotment of 250 auction listings in the BASIC store, you will be charged 25 cents per listing. 2. I generally don't do auctions. It will depend on what you're selling but I only recommend auctions for those items that are in HIGH DEMAND and get several bids over a week long span. If you aren't selling high demand items, I would suggest converting those listings to Buy It Nows. 3. Fixed price listings ARE renewed every month if they don't sell. Its pretty simple to not have to worry about them ending. It's pretty seamless. 4. You are correct. If you switch to the BASIC store and convert many of those auctions to BINs you will get 1000 listings to use, so yes, you will have roughly 350 left over if you want to add more listings later. You will still have 250 auctions as well. BASIC comes with a total of 1250 listings. Hope that helps! Best of luck with your biz. Jason
Yeah I'm not looking to get into business, just sell about 5 or 6 things computer related that I have in my apt. When I read all the fees etc. I wasn't sure how I could get a decent amount of money on my items. I have to get a few things done on my pc and laptop. And the guy who fixes stuff told me he will only offer 50% of the sold items on Ebay for barter.. I'm wondering if I could get more money on Ebay selling them and paying him cash instead. I mean how much will Ebay take for profits fees etc? And is he ripping me off? or is there a certain $ amount I'd have have paid to me to make it worth my while?
Great question! Having a store doesn't affect your IRS status in any way. The IRS will still want to know about the income you make regardless of whether you have a store or not.
ebay has given me a limit of 600 items with a vvalue of 24k over 4 months of running my store... i am going too up my game and get a premium store today!!! i am so excited to take my ebay hobby and make it a career. this started as something i did for fun and now making a full time living off it
@@jasonmhayes i got the premium store but it did not raise my limits... i called ebay and they said because they raised the limit earlier this month i have too wait 30 days. do you think after the 30 days i will get the 10000 limit increase that it says the premium store gets????
Does this count new listing though or existing listings? “Listing 250 fresh listings monthly? Or when there are 265 items (listed already+new listings) starter?
I thought the limit was 50 free items for non store? Did ebay change it 250 free listings? Over a year ago I was listing 70-80 items and they were billing me for anything over 50 items. Did this change?
Mr. Garcia, ebay increased their monthly listing alotment a little over a year ago and increased most, if not all, of the store levels. Yes, you should be getting 250 combined listings now with no store activation (250 combined auction/BIN)
few items on eBay and read online that a new seller is only allowed 10 listings per month. However in your video hear you mention that the number is 250. Can you clarify?
Love this video. Very helpful! Newbie question. I’m was wondering if either non stores or stores listings keep relisting? Or if you have to start listing same items again & again (until sold) after a specific time frame? Thanks
Thank you for all the info, I have a question, a lot of the benefits of having a store that you mention, like promoted listings, promoted listings campaigns, the seller dashboard with all those analytics, I do not have a store, yet I have been able to promote my listings for a long time, I am just an above standard seller (buyer?) I had my account for many years using it just as a buyer and only recently started to sell, since I have some of those benefits without paying for a store, I am a bit confused as to when would it make it worth it paying for one , thanks in advance!
Micaela, great question! I think ebay started giving some of the store perks to non store accounts since it does benefit ebay to have more users promoting their listings. That said, I'd still recommend a store at the levels I mentioned in the video. It's all going to depend on how many listings you have and whether you are growing rapidly or taking your time :)
Awesome EBAY STORE detailed and information presentation. I think I understand that you are entitled to so many listing per month, but does it matter if you already have let's say 3,000 listings and then plan to add X amount of listing per month. Does the total amount of your existing listings matter?
Larry, thanks for watching and reaching out! Yep, to answer your question, it absolutely matters. Everytime one of those 3000 listings renews each month your listing allotment is subtracted by 1 so if you have that many listings, you would DEFINITELY benefit from having a store and save quite a bit of money. :)
Hello, I sell only collectibles through auction listings. Do sellers like me just go on through life with the fees or is the only option to use fixed price items to save money?
I'm at the point where I need to decide if I'm going to go up from starter to basic. I'm trying to factor into math how much the saving on the final value fee is? and how much the quarterly supplies are?
Basic gives you a pretty large boost in listings from 250 to 1000. I personally think its worth the jump in price but obviously a decision you have to make sure you are good with paying for... :)
Jason, your video did help me, but your math is incorrect in comparing no store vs starter store. If I were to list 265 listings without a store, I would have to pay 0.35*15= 5.25. But if I had a store and were to list 265, I would have to pay 4.95+(0.30*15)=9.45. Since they both have the same free listings, you need to account for the fact you're still paying insertion fees after 250 for the starter store as well. I see you not quite understanding this in the comments, I hope I explained it better. Thanks!
I appreciate you reaching out! You are correct on that. Although you will get a lot of other benefits with a store vs. not having a store, you're math is correct. Thanks for pointing that out!
How much a month limit do you get if you have a starter store though? I just started but I can only have a $500 limit. but I have alot of expensive items to sell. not sure what to do here.
Great Question, The limit doesn't really have anything to do with your store level. You can simply call in to ebay and request a selling limit increase no matter what store level you're at.
@@jasonmhayes I literally just started selling though. Do I have to get a certain amount of feedback before? Sold 3 items so far. Still trying to figure this whole thing out
Is that 250 in a month or do you get charged for your total listings? I just started recently and I have 454 listings already, so am I being charged for 204 listings? I'm guessing that's the case because I always seem to owe ebay money. All I've see from people is that you should list, list, list, which I have been doing consistently but it doesn't make much sence if I go over 250 and then have to pay extra, especially as a seller who is just beginning to figure out the nuance of this endeavor. If I purchase the starteer store, but have more listings planned as I have thousands and thousands of items I'm working on daily, it doesn't make sense to purchase a starter store because I'll be exceeding the 204 that I've already gone past the limit. This seems kind of scammy. Everyone says keep listing and focus on that when you start, but if your listings aren't being put in front of buyers and ebay is charging you for doing what everyone says you should do, then how does one break through? I sold around $600 in my first month and every time I turn around, e-bay is dinging me again for one thing or another. Thats a fairly large gap you're talking about between the 250 and over 1000 listings to jump to the next level, but the way I'm seeing it is I may as well skip the starter and go right to the next level because I'm not intending on removing listings to stay under 250. I'm not trying to do this to lose money. Granted, any business takes an investment of time and money and a rough patch you have to go through in order to come out the other side, but the ebay policies seem a little vague and it also seems like it's not realy set up for the new seller to get ahead. It's like they're standing in the way and whacking you with a stick while you're trying to make moves. Obviously they have a business to run as well, but it would seem that the more new sellers were able to succeed, the better it would be for everyone, including established stores and sellers. Maybe I'm seeing this wrong, but it certainly appears that they almost have a hazing system set up to see if you're willing to push through. I welcome a challenge, but it's also nice to have an idea what that challenge happens to be. Starting out with this thing I haven't had the time to read every little fine print section that comes along, who in their right mind does? You just hit accept and try to move forward. This was an insightful video and it's given me more questions, which seems to be a good thing rather than being a blundering idiot just wandering around out in the weeds with a golf club and a can of deep woods off.
Hello, will I need a bussiness license or a LLC or anything of the sort before subscribing(or even after) to subscribe to a eBay store, or do i need to file taxes as self-employment or something? would appreciate if youd reply to this, i did research and i couldnt find the answer, i figured you would know since you have a subscription
Great Question! You don't need a business license at all. You can open an ebay store without it. At some point, once you start selling many things a day, it may be worth it to you to talk to a CPA and figure out the best time to register as a business to save on taxes. But totally unecessary to get going with an ebay store.
Thank you for the video! If you have a Basic store and you pay for the year - then during the middle of the year you decide to change from the Basic to the Premium; does EBAY use the money you have put in for the Basic store towards the cost of the Premium store? OR Do you lose the money you put towards the cost of the Basic store? Thank you in advance!!
You're Welcome! Great Question: if you decide to go up in store, you basically just start paying the new amount so you don't lose anything. You're really just comitting to pay a monthly fee for one year. Of course, ebay would love to see you go from basic to premium since they'd be getting more money :)
Jason for someone with maybe 10-20 items in their home and not knowing if they will continue with eBay would you recommend a starter store? Also, have you sold on other platforms? If so, what platforms?
Patrick, thanks for reaching out! Honestly, I would wait and see with only that amount of listings. I don't think it's enough to justify spending for a store. I do sell on 4 other platforms. It's been HUGE for my business. (Poshmark, mercari, grailed, facebook, depop). Best of luck
I have a premium store but only have 428 listings so I should go down to a Basic, but I see they charge extra $15.95 for Seller Manager Pro. Is that worth it?
I think it depends. If you plan on continuing to build your inventory I would likely just stay at the premium level. But if you think you'll stay around 400 listings, it may be worth it to drop down.
@@jasonmhayes hey same question, I have the premium store, thinking of downgrading to basic but I guess I would have to go back through every listing and put the invintory number in the title, is that correct..?
New seller that hit top rated and been selling for about 3 months. I have 10 listings that net 3-4K a month. Is there any benefit for me to buy a store if my single listings sell 100+ quantity’s?
Great Question! In your case, maybe its not worth it. Just depends if you'd like some of the features that a store provides (ability to run sales, vacation settings, etc). Entirely up to you :) Thanks for the comment!
Great info and I didn't realize that you still paid monthly for an annual subscription. For the initial month are you billed upfront or at the end of the first month? Thanks!
If I chose to move up to a starter store... so I need an Einstein or can I Continue working from my ssn? If I decide to make the jump, will all of my current listing be converted to the starter store? Thanks
You can continue working under your SSN no matter which store you have. Of course, if you're registered as a business you'll want to switch over to your EIN. It's very seamless if you decide to make the jump. You click a few buttons and then you're done. Everything converts very simply :) Thanks for reaching out!
My only issue is I sell movies and music and I use auctions alot. I can get 250 free listing in those categories and use those for auctions or buy it now with no store then 35 cent once those are up. I have another account with basic and it charges you 30 cents each auction in those categories but don't have to pay fees for buy it now. I like to put up items for auction first then turn them into buy it now items but my account with no store is up to 300 listings. If I upgrade my basic does the auction price for those categories go down? Is there an easy way to transfer listing from one account to another maybe?
Unfortunately, jumping up in store won't impact your maximum listings at all. BUT, with that said, you can call ebay and request a limit increase. There's a great chance you'll get a significant increase. Thanks for your question, Nate :)
I don’t have 250 items but I do have items that sell for a lot? $600,$800,$ 1,000… will it behoove me to get the basic option even if I’m selling well under 250 items?

Hi. Great video thanks. I have a question. I am new in eBay. I work on it seriously and have just 5-10 listings and no store yet and no sale yet. I want to be "starter" but not sure. I know that PPC and promotion are very important in this biz. Should I get starter-level now or wait for a few purchasing and get experience? Thanks in advance.
Hey! Great question! I'd honestly wait until you make some sales, let some time go by and see how you like ebay. Then once you've got several sales under your belt and you've continued to add inventory, THEN get a store. But waiting a few weeks/months I think is your best bet
Thank you, this helped alot! I just upgraded from the starter to basic store, those 0.30 fees were starting to add up.
Nice work!
Cheers! Thank you so much I have 600 listings in my starter store and those listing fees were eating me alive. Just upgraded to Basic store thanks to you.
Thanks for doing the math for me. I realize I need to go straight to premium. Your presentation style is easy to listen to and informative.
I hit the “Like” when you pulled out the paper and sharpie. Appreciate that you just want to teach.
Thanks! Glad you liked it

Bloody el guys this is more confusing . Would not know what or which way to go with this non v starter. Sorry to say this was just not helpful 😂😂😂😩😩😩
😂😂😂😂😂 I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAUGHT THAT😅 LEFT OUT THE 30 CENTS PER ITEM WHAT A WASTE OF

Great video. I've been paying the 59 for a premium and only list 350 listing a month, looks like I need to downgrade to the basic store. Been over paying now for about 3 years. Thanks for breaking this all down!
Happy to help anytime Mike!
@@jasonmhayes Could have sworn the premium only did 1000 listing, did that change or did I have that wrong for all these years?
Thanks i thought we without a suite where still at 100. So i haven't utilized that extra. Now i have space to list. Might have to get a store.
So glad I found your video! So easy to understand (newbie!) and helpful! I’m looking for more of your videos right now! Thanks so so much!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for commenting :)
Jason you are a great speaker! Easy to follow and understand. Thanks from Grammy Pammy from Kentucky
I’m new to this this platform. Thanks for breaking it down. I liked the way you explained it.
Glad it was helpful!
you deserve more likes on this video this was very helpful unlike the 32 min video I almost wasted my time on
Wow, THANKS for the generous comment! :) Glad this video helped you.
What is the best type store for low fees ?
When u do a sale can you pick which items are on sale or is it whole store? Also the promoted listing are they automatically promoted and what is the cost of promoting items. This video has given me more questiins than answers 3 minutes in....
Jason H, you can select certain items or categories to run sales on. Definitely worth it!
Awesome info! Thanks so much for dumming it down for us-keep this good work up and you won't need ebay any longer. You'll become a full time educational tuber-you! Enjoy!
Thanks Steven! Glad that it made sense for you and you found it beneficial! :)
What a great video. Very easy to understand for a newbie. Ty
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, in a sense... its total items listed + all the items you relist from your inventory. Not just new listings
Great video. Your video really helped me figure out which store is right for me and at what point I should move up in my eBay store subscription. Thanks again!
So glad to hear!! Your comment is the reason why I made this video :) Glad it helped you figure out a great strategy for your biz.
Great information. Thanks. It's decision time for me after my 25th listing in 2 days.
Excellent video! I’m signing up for a basic store as we speak! Thank you!!

Do you have a video explaining how to keep track of sales and spending ?
Samantha, Thanks for reaching out! I do have my spreadsheet in a video from about a year ago. I explain in detail how I keep track of those things. :)
I need to check that video out.
@@jasonmhayes I will check it out! Thanks! Keep up the hard work I love your videos and Two Flippin Dudes!
Starter store is 250 Total Listings. Hope that helps
Yes you are, thats why I say having a store is beneficial
Great video! many people do not realize the effort put into such a video.
Thanks Glen! Someone gets it Hahaha
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Jason!
I feel really dumb now 🤪 not only do I need a store, I need the Basic store right off the jump, skipping this Starter one 😂
Anyway, TY so much!!
Thank you for sharing this information. It is easy to understand. It is very helpful. Happy New Year!

You have to have a team i feel to push out 1k listings a month im trying to make my 250 ea h month I just love the features so do I just get the basic i only think ill do is 350 400 liatings a month
no start seller acc in the uk, just basic and above
Good to know, Thanks!
Can you skip the starter level, and go straight to the basic?
You definitely can
I'm at the starter store.
Jason
Do you have to have a DBA or LLC or business ein to start an eBay store? There’s not much information on eBay about that.
Not at all!
Very helpful!! Thank you very much for this video!!

Very Helpful ty. My question is, If I commit to a basic store for one year, then decide to upgrade, do you get penalized for not paying a full year?
Not at all! Ebay would love for you to upgrade and pay more for a higher level store ;)
Hi Jason for IRS purposes do I need to have an eBay store or it does not matter ? I am doing this for income I purchase items to sell at a profit
Great question! Having a store doesn't affect your IRS status in any way. The IRS will still want to know about the income you make regardless of whether you have a store or not.
I want to do this but don’t know how to get started
I get that! I do have a video in my channel explaining practical steps to take if you want to start. Thanks Lisa!
Thank you, Do you pay a premium fee for promotions with a store like you do when you don’t have a store?

Does this count new listing though or existing listings? “Listing 250 fresh listings monthly? Or when there are 265 items (listed already+new listings) starter?
Great Question! The numbers I'm throwing out are when you hit that number in inventory.
Good morning, thanks for your question! If you’re signed up with ebays managed payments, which most accounts should be by now, you’ll get 250 listings
Thanks for your reply.
@@jasonmhayes Thank you so much Jason :)
Do sellers like me just go on through life with the fees or is the only option to use fixed price items to save money?
is there also a difference in sellers fees? final fees? etc...
Only if you are a Top Rated Plus Seller.. In that case, you get a 10% discount of final value fees :)
I just sold an item and eBay charge me $4.51 so are they gonna charge me that same fee for every item because I don’t have a store
Hey, thanks for the comment. Ebay will charge a percentage of the sale depending on what category you sell in.
Thanks for pointing that out!
what about the final value fee, is it less with a store than without?
not necessarily unless you're a Top Rated Seller Plus
How much a month limit do you get if you have a starter store though? I just started but I can only have a $500 limit. but I have alot of expensive items to sell. not sure what to do here.
Great Question, The limit doesn't really have anything to do with your store level. You can simply call in to ebay and request a selling limit increase no matter what store level you're at.
@@jasonmhayes I literally just started selling though. Do I have to get a certain amount of feedback before? Sold 3 items so far. Still trying to figure this whole thing out
That's why I was wondering if that limit gets uplifted if I get a store. I don't have a llc or ein number yet
thanks man! just called and they increased the limit :) thanks for the help!
@@jasonmhayes Thank you Jason!
@@jasonmhayes Also, do you need to ship with Ebay boxes while using Ebay? Do you need to pay taxes if you just have the free personal ebay account?
I have a premium store but only have 428 listings so I should go down to a Basic, but I see they charge extra $15.95 for Seller Manager Pro. Is that worth it?
I think it depends. If you plan on continuing to build your inventory I would likely just stay at the premium level. But if you think you'll stay around 400 listings, it may be worth it to drop down.
@@jasonmhayes hey same question, I have the premium store, thinking of downgrading to basic but I guess I would have to go back through every listing and put the invintory number in the title, is that correct..?

At 7:45 non store vs starter. Does Starter add 250 ZIF items on top of the 250 non stores get?
Unfortunately, no.. its a total of 250 listings but you do get all the added benefits of the store vs not having those. Thanks Tommy

If I chose to move up to a starter store... so I need an Einstein or can I Continue working from my ssn?
If I decide to make the jump, will all of my current listing be converted to the starter store?

You can continue working under your SSN no matter which store you have. Of course, if you're registered as a business you'll want to switch over to your EIN.
It's very seamless if you decide to make the jump. You click a few buttons and then you're done. Everything converts very simply :)

I just started on eBay and I’m currently only able to list 10 items max. If I buy the starter store does that immediately jump up to 250?
Unfortunately, jumping up in store won't impact your maximum listings at all. BUT, with that said, you can call ebay and request a limit increase. There's a great chance you'll get a significant increase. Thanks for your question, Nate :)
Thank you for answering!
I don’t have 250 items but I do have items that sell for a lot? $600,$800,$ 1,000… will it behoove me to get the basic option even if I’m selling well under 250 items?
Thanks for the comment!
In your case, maybe its not worth it. Just depends if you'd like some of the features that a store provides (ability to run sales, vacation settings, etc). Entirely up to you :)
Thank you, your explanation helped me make a decision
Glad I could help
Thank you for making this video! You made it super easy for me to make a decision.. math just doesn't lie!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, just made an ebay account for my business and it's ben restricted within 30 minutes. eBay are saying due to suspicious activity
Matt, I'm really sorry to hear that. Have you tried calling ebay?
does the starter store have the professional look as well
The starter store has the benefits of all the other levels with the exception of the ebay shipping supplies coupon each quarter. :)
@@jasonmhayes Thank you for your answer. In my mind :)

15:22 Are those listings amounts per month? or keeping those listings at that amount?
Whenever you hit that amount of listings in your account, you should consider purchasing that store level :)
Great video . Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Very good video. Really changed my perspective
Thanks! Glad it helped!
Are you being charged for every listing you have in a store or are you just paying for the monthly store cost?
Just paying for the monthly store cost assuming I don't go over on listings :)
@@jasonmhayesAll along I didn’t know this. Thanks for the reply!
Thanks for the good information.
