Omg istg I listened to this when I was in high school but somehow I lost the song. And I just found it again and it brings back the memories!! I can't put my finger to it but I feel nostalgic af!!
I'm schizotypal, and in some ways this is a good description, especially the "yes I can no i cant's", which I see as knowing something is not right but holding on to the strange beliefs. Anyway, I love this song.
Oh my god, I saw them at that same concert! They were the opening band for Motion City Soundtrack. They had a concession stand where they were selling their merch and I got to meet Ben.
Schizophrenia is something i went through in my child hood. I had sooooo many imaginary friends which many people might think i got this from oprah but no i earnestly suffered from these illusions and many people laughed at me for it. When i heard this song i cried.
-HA_HA..Thats my MOM as the OLD BAT in purple...Great video guys like the song..Hope yall get a big break sometime..And when ya do have my mom in more videos pls..Keepin her bizee keeps her from poking 'round in my life..LOL..GOOD WORK!!!
Everyone with a diagnosis of Schizophrenia experiences it differently. Someone might say the video accurately depicts their experience while the lyrics themselves do not.
The video depicts multiple personality disorder while the song depicts paranoia and anxiety. Schizophrenia does not result in multiple personalities. I meant that I find it strange for the video to conform to this popular myth about the illness and the song itself not to.
Toby Hunt I can see how you interpreted it that way. I personally interpreted the other people in the video to the the voices in his head that he references throughout the song lyrics in physical form. They could also represent hallucinations that he could be experiencing. That's why I think music and music videos are so wonderful- everyone is allowed to have a different interpretation, and in some cases that's what the artist hopes for!! 😊
I'm so glad my friend went to Jacks Mannequin and saw Jukebox The Ghost. She recommended them to me, and by god, I think I'm in love. Empire and Beady Eyes on the Horizon are also really good songs.

i experienced schizophrenia and i saw people's face change like in the video hahaha this is funny so accurate thanks for making this video and great music :) this is really helpful and supportive for me.
Ive been into dubstep for years... Not mainstream like Skrillex, but you get the point. Any way, I clicked this on accident and absolutely love it :P So uplifting haha.
The guy who found it necessary to touch my iPod and change the track when this song was playing at my party...was promptly asked to leave, along with his girlfriend. It's my party, I'll cry if I want to.
@ MrNamely Um, yes mental illnesses should be taken seriously. I've suffered from them for a long time, but that doesn't keep me from absolutely LOVING this song. And I actually did go crazy in the summer of my 22nd year (anorexia, not schizophrenia), which is why I love screaming those lyrics. Lighten up and just enjoy :)
I really want to go see them in concert at the Riot Room in KC, but I'm flat broke, so unless I can get the money somehow or get my boyfriend to get us some tickets, looks like no concert for me :(
I cant tell if their kinda playfully making fun of schizophrenia or if theyre like kinda explaining their own experience or if theyre just explaining it like idk how im supposed to take this song haha
The lead singer Ben thornewill wrote this song explaining his own experience. Idk the details, but he says that when he was 22 he was very convinced that he was schizophrenic
@MrNamely They also have an upbeat song about the apocalypse. I don't think a happy melody = a happy song. In fact, this song doesn't sound happy to me, it's a little frightening, the narrater sounds scared. Of course, I do not understand the pain of your condition, but this is a far cry from the band making light of it or acting like it's fun. Listen to the lyrics!
Ten years later and this song still slaps
Yes

Showed this to my schizophrenic bf and he fell in love with the band instantly.

Omg istg I listened to this when I was in high school but somehow I lost the song. And I just found it again and it brings back the memories!! I can't put my finger to it but I feel nostalgic af!!

Good morning 😌
I'm schizotypal, and in some ways this is a good description, especially the "yes I can no i cant's", which I see as knowing something is not right but holding on to the strange beliefs.
Anyway, I love this song.
I saw them in concert at the motion city soundtrack concert and I have been OBSESSED with Jukebox the Ghost, and all the other bands...Bayside. ( :
Oh my god, I saw them at that same concert! They were the opening band for Motion City Soundtrack. They had a concession stand where they were selling their merch and I got to meet Ben.
Holy crap. I am 11 years late to this party, but I cannot believe that I just met my first fellow Bayside/JTG fan. We should start a club!

This song is incredible. Just...everything about it
Schizophrenia is something i went through in my child hood. I had sooooo many imaginary friends which many people might think i got this from oprah but no i earnestly suffered from these illusions and many people laughed at me for it. When i heard this song i cried.

saw them touring with Guster, Loads of fun! best opener yet so far!
How come the song describes Schizophrenia accurately and the video doesn't?

Andi Tatge A good point and well made. I hadn't looked at the video that way before.
I discovered Jukebox the Ghost while I was researching Schizophrenia for a project. I'm glad I had to do that project.
I got into them by this album thats because I first heard them when this album came out and i have seen them and they are amazing!

Will I ever stop being impressed by JTG's creative endeavors?
I hope not. Doesn't seem likely.
I'm so glad my friend went to Jacks Mannequin and saw Jukebox The Ghost. She recommended them to me, and by god, I think I'm in love. Empire and Beady Eyes on the Horizon are also really good songs.
I love the way how to they come up with their album. both tommy and ben do their part to the vocals and earn a tracks.
First song that I've listened to by the band...about five seconds into the song and I loved them. :)
i wish their album was on vinyl

I'm so glad Jack's Mannequin invited them to open, or else I would never have heard of their them or their awesome music!
@ MrNamely Um, yes mental illnesses should be taken seriously. I've suffered from them for a long time, but that doesn't keep me from absolutely LOVING this song. My choir director knows the keyboard guy and he came to our school and played for a few of us.
I NEED to learn this on piano.
I wish punctuation classes were easier to discover.
I love them so much!! Hah what a great song
Vitametavegimen…that is the cure.
Just take one big ol' spoonful after every meal!!
So glad to know Lucy is still being referenced
I cant tell if their kinda playfully making fun of schizophrenia or if theyre like kinda explaining their own experience or if theyre just explaining it like idk how im supposed to take this song haha
The lead singer Ben thornewill wrote this song explaining his own experience. Idk the details, but he says that when he was 22 he was very convinced that he was schizophrenic
is "you can say that i'm well liked" a death of a salesman reference?
waoh! seriously? That's epic!
SCHIZOPHRENIA 😊
Oh man, this is a great video. @NeonAJW, probably on a green screen.
I like to think that our universe as a whole is the schizophrenic alter-ego of Ben Thornewill.
more people should listen to this osmfg
oh
i saw them at the 9:30 club in d.c.
I RAN INTO THE DRUMMER ON HIS WAY UP TO THE STAGE AND I WAS LIKE * YAH ME *
@MrNamely They also have an upbeat song about the apocalypse. I don't think a happy melody = a happy song.
