  • In this video, I build a launch controller from parts found on Amazon. (I am not specifically endorsing Amazon; it's just a convenient supplier). The launch controller can be used with virtually all types of model rockets - low to high power.
    Parts list:
    Switch box - smile.amazon.com/dp/B01M0K8XY6
    Piezo buzzer - smile.amazon.com/dp/B07VRDRW2T
    Momentary key switch - smile.amazon.com/dp/B07V6879CY
    12 volt power cord - smile.amazon.com/dp/B092HT2182
    LED panel lamp - smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...
    Extension cord - smile.amazon.com/dp/B078NR4K4K
    Micro clips - smile.amazon.com/dp/B012RHB4SU

Thanks for the build video... You were the only one that showed the process in detail. THANKS!!

Thanks for the build tutorial and list of materials, I was able to follow along and build a controller. I used an 11.1 volt LiPo battery with XT60 connectors for power and omitted the buzzer.

This is a great video. Could you do another one but for a multi controller? Master such. Arm switch for specific pad then launch button? That would be greatly appreciated

Well, I recently built a multi controller, but I didn’t video the process. I don’t have the need for another.

@REAR_rockets could you possibly do a video about the controller and show the wiring and a nice clean diagram? If not no worries.

Well put together video Dave! I just finished ordering everything from Amazon. Just FYI, the alligator clips you have listed came up as out of stock, but I found another listing on Amazon for them. Being an old electronic technician, I will solder the wires together then use some heat shrink tubing instead of using crimp connectors. Takes a bit less space plus is is a better connection. Nothing wrong with using crimp connectors for anyone not used to doing soldered connections. Thanks for all of your videos. I've been binge watching them since I started in this hobby a month ago.

I apologize if you said this but what gurantees that your continuity circuit which affectively bypasses the launch button cant set off an ignitor. Is there a max current for what will and will not make the ignitor glow?

Yes, the LED limits current to around 20 milliamps, which is too low to set off most igniters.

Great video. You gotta give us more clues about what to search for on Amazon.

I've added a "shopping list" to the description. I'll also be adding another video for a differently-sourced launch controller.

Thanks for another great video! Can I get the link for the non-momentary key switch? I want to use it as a safety lockout, but with a separate momentary switch for launch.

It should be in the description.

Hi I’m new to wiring and attempted this build minus the buzzer. When I plug it in my power light comes on but nothing else works. How should I wire without the buzzer? Im thinking this is where I went wrong.

Connect the other LED lead directly to the switch instead of in series with the buzzer.
