This is the most frustrating piece of equipment I’ve ever had. If I get a reading and I market when I try to double check it it doesn’t read that spot again. Then it’s got the flashing red so now I’m totally paranoid because according to this my entire wall has got a power behind it. Everywhere. I hate this thing with my whole being. It’s completely ruining my project.
If you’re in metal mode and the screen is flashing red, is it telling you it’s found AC wires (even though you’re looking for metal)? Just trying to figure out the display logic. (This thing won’t shut up.)
@@ReidSwanson_Outside it’s been awhile, but if I recall this thing did seem to find more voltage speaker wire in the wall. So “metal” can be “wires.” Hope that helps.
I know I'm late but yes, no matter what mode you're in it is going to flash red if it crosses electrical wiring purely as a safety feature. Even if you're only trying to find studs or metal pipes you don't want to be drilling into live wires.
I have tried and tried and I cannot get consistent readings with the Superscan M4. Even when using it on a wall where I KNOW FOR SURE the approximate location of the studs, with no electrical or anything else close by, based on the photos I took during construction. I have watched instructional videos, I am following proper procedures, but still the readings are extremely inconsistent. I wouldn't trust this thing at all. I strongly recommend you test this thing out at several locations where you know exactly where the stud is to see for yourself. I am going back to my older Studsensor i65 and throwing the M4 in the trash.
Is it me or does the battery not always sit properly and cause blinking errors? Sometimes I can't get it to calibrate unless I take out and re-insert the battery. Any tips?
This thing works great for me. I’ve noticed the battery doing the same thing for me, so I just replace with a brand new one and no sweating it. Otherwise it’s been a dream, especially working in older homes and helping out friends and family. I would return and get a new one if it acts up like that though, zero problems. Straight forward. Your ole’ lady can use it. 🎉
I have the zircon superscan ID model that will light up green for wood, blue for metal, red for live wires, and yellow for plastic. Sounds great right ?!!! Nope, its all over the place, and cant remember how many times its been not just wrong, but WAY wrong. It is pure Ga-garbage!!
How far apart are your studs? That seemed like 5ft
Liked because you are the reason I passed my Barrie G test 🙏
Just bought one for 20.00 on a online auction.
Thanks for the review
Glad I could help
Thanks for the quick tutorial just brought one

Agreed, this thing is complete garbage. Sure it blinks, sure it lights up, but it’s all over the map and is not consistent with readings AT ALL.
I just got readings and no wood, not the same each time. I’m taking this pos back!!!!
Thank You 🙏
Much needed help 👍
I’ll let ya know if I mess up
my house or not 🤣
Haha 😆

Can this find framing studs through exterior stucco walls?
Bought one and I had really bad luck with it.
Just bought one at the fleamarket for $2.
