You’re right in terms of range and technique. But JMs vocals do have a character and timbre that complement the songs he writes extremely well. Sadly TV talent shows have turned singing into an intellectual exercise with people simply wanting to show case what notes they can hit or how many challenging melody runs they can squeeze in. Singing is about getting a core emotion across, of course accuracy is a factor but it’s not the only thing. Plus if you go and see John purely for the vocals you’re probably missing the point 😜
