    You absolutely have the best instructional videos on the internet. You get straight to the point and you stay on point. You don't talk about anything that is not related to your project. You stay on point and I like that. Some guys like to tell you what they did over the weekend. But you don't do that. You document very well of things to be cautious of. And your instructions are very precise. Keep it going with the excellent videos. Maybe you should look into becoming an instructor at a school or college somewhere.

    what a great video. I watch a lot videos for repairing all sort of things, but this video by far is the best instructional video i have encountered considering how complicated this job is.

    Excellent tutorial with good camera coverage. I’m almost convinced that I could give this a shot.. but perhaps first I should brush up on my South African accent by watching Charlize Theron movies.

    Removing the left bank gasket cover is really super difficult, I will try to move that wiring harness on the left at 21:35 time stamp. I had heck of time pulling it out with in place, then I took a break and watch your video again and saw that you move the wiring harness bundle out of the slot. It is an all day job but worth it since your video is so detail. Much appreciate your lessons on repairs.

    Be careful when you release Valvetronic motor like that 12:40 , gear sector at the eccentric shaft if quite fragile, may fracture sometimes. Happened to me ones. There is a special procedure for valvetronic motor disconnection. Nice video, thank you for sharing

    Awesome video. I can actually hear you are my fellow countryman . I'm currently busy with this job and its defeated me lol. I fitted the gasket as well as changed those pipes but its leaking terribly from the bottom side of both valve covers . Not sure why. Also the bolts are different sizes. I could not get the shorter ones to bite the thread so I had to mix them up. Hoping it's not that.

      Thanks. The cover is not fitted correctly if the threads are not catching. The bottom side needs to be pressed inwards, almost lifted and pressed to clear the raised part of the cover. If you cannot see the screw threads you have not got the cover on correctly. The nuts are shorter on the bottom row if i recall. If you are trying to use the longer ones to try and force the cover on you have not seated the cover correctly. Lift the bottom and angle it a bit while pressing towards the engine. May help to have another person help push the cover towards the engine or use your hand to support the bottom side and press it towards the engine

      Remember to use correct gasket seal for the tubes. Bmw specify a specific one. I used Reinzosil and it seems okay, no leaks in spark plug spaces.

    Normally you use a tester or ISTA and allow the Valvetronic servomotors to retract by approx. 3 mm. After reinstallation, they must then be recalibrated by the tester. There is a high risk of damaging the servomotor or the eccentric shaft if this is not done.

    Question: Did you remove the negative battery cable? Is it necessary? Or just flip that switch to OFF position?
    Also I have a pro scanner, I would put the Valtronic servomotor on Service mode. It has the function before working on the Valve Covers.

    hi when I remove the cover ,the spark plug pipes come with the rocker cover,so it not enough to move out, what I need to do?

    I found NOT seat the spark plug tubes tight in the head first helps the valve cover install much easier. Also make sure the three red tabs on the valve cover are fully in before start tightening the lower cover nuts.

      Those red tabs are a pain and can break too. I found that buying a new cover w the gaskets in place is quicker and better than cleaning and replacing gaskets and grommets. The time savings is worth buying a new cover for both banks

    I need to replace the actuator drive behind the manifold without removing the manifold. I think I can do this by removing the ecu wiring harness on top of the manifold and the support strut bars. Do you think its possible to replace the actuator this way?

      Its not possible without getting the manifold out unfortunately

    That's not the camshaft sensor, it's the eccentric shaft sensor for the valvetronic. It's quite expensive. Get to the chopper!

    hi are the two sensors at the back of the cover , the camshaft position sensor? i got an error code after installing everything back

      @@donny5628 i just bought a valve cover from 1a auto is like $200 , mines ended up warped and cracked which wasn’t sealing right in one of the corners also the plastic guides inside of it broke , after i started the car up , it started leaking more than before and got vacuum error codes , the car was reving all erratically , so hopefully with new cover should resolve it.

    Wheres the rest of the reinstall...i want to see if your car starts properly after removing the valvetronic solenoid under tension like that. Those solenoids have no hex on them to manually set them off the escentric shaft ive heard you can turn your ignition on but not start and they relearn where they should be but ive never seen it done.

      Excellent i have the same year/model car as you and my valve covers cant wait any longer, im going to follow your guide ive always been nervous about the solenoid position but i guess the car solves it. I have INPA and i know you can reinitialize them but i guess when im done ill be turning on the ignition and having someone touch the servos to see if they adjust....if not i suppose ill try the hard reinitialize with INPA. I also have to drop my tranny to replace the rear coolant pan and to be honest im more worried about the valve cover servos!
