    My issue with Lincoln was he abandoned the run even when it was the strength of the team and he clearly had the advantage. Throwing it ALL THE TIME on short yardage situations was INFURIATING! It got worse as time went on. We need the balance that we had when Stoops was coaching and, funny enough, when Cale Cundy was calling plays in our bowl game.
    Lebby will have TE's & HB's that he can incorporate. As long as he utilizes all the talent we have on campus, the offense will still be potent.

      Well said, OU always has talent on the offense. Defense and lack of physicality by the players recruited have been OU's bane for a while now. Pass-happy coach recruits pass-happy players; great for line play, not so much in the secondary. Riley ran when OU signed up for the SEC because of the physicality for the conference. He'll be much happier on the left coast. Bu bye!

      What was missing from LR. Is that he began to be impatient with the 5 yard shirt passing game to fullback h back tight end. The Iowa state 3( the new trending defence) deep was never effective when the short passing game was going strong because it really made run fake effective
      What is difference between lebby and Baylor 13 offence of wife split and veer runs?

    Great breakdown. I believe Lebby's scheme will be far more effective than that other guy's. His emphasis on physicality and running the ball mixed with coach B, will be lethal! That soft, finesse stuff under TBOW won't get you a chip.

      Baylor did okay. Oklahoma has far superior athletes to Ole Miss. Rosters aren't even close. Also Ole Miss lost their starting QB that game. That really throws rhythm off. No telling how that game could have ended had they not lost Matt Corral.

    • @TheDaringPastry1313

      Against Baylor, we threw it down field on first down so many times. We didn't throw screens or quick slants ... We wasted our 1st down most possessions and had 2/3 downs to get 10 yards. Baylor was dropping coverage and we were going deep for some stupid reason.

There's a narrative that Big 12 defenses have figured out how to slow down Riley's offense and that Riley didn't have a counter move. I'd be interested to see your take on that.

    One of the things people normally don't talk about is how ineffective it is to have the coach also be the acting coordinator as well. I'm glad Venables hired Ted Roof to manage the defense although he could do it himself. I'll never understand not utilizing those positions to the fullest... Another set of eyes never hurts and I assume it takes some of the stress off of the head coach so that He can focus on the big picture, and in turn, do what's best for the entire team vs just his unit (up tempo vs defense off the field, etc,...)

    • @Sooner85

    Boomer! Oklahoma upgraded by losing Lincoln and I'd rather have heart over hype with Gabriel vs CW. We want a guy who wants to be here and has passion for college football. Cw looks at it as a stepping stone to get him to the NFL as quickly as possible which isn't wrong it's just not the type of guy we want at the helm. Kyler is more talented than Baker but every OU fan will choose Baker as their favorite OU QB because heart and leadership matter. CeDe Lamb is probably the best WR from Ou yet if you had OU fans choose their favorite Wr it would be Sterling Shepherd because his passion for the game and his love for Oklahoma football. BV is a great judge of character and will get the right guys at OU. He has been taught by Bill Snyder, Bob Stoops, and Dabo Sweeney. He will make sure we have the right men in that locker room. He steps in and puts together the #8 ranked recruiting class in just 2 months after he was handed a sh!t storm full of uncertain players and recruits that felt they've been played by the university as well as Lincoln because it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth knowing the head coach and Heisman caliber QB jump ship to go to Cali. BV and Bob stoops laughed and said really?! Alright time to take us to the next level that Lincoln couldn't. Lincoln's teams couldn't sniff a natty because he ran a lack luster program with highly talented players. There is no way a athlete should be saying his highschool practices were harder. That is unacceptable. Lebby had had more production with less talent than Lincoln Riley the past 3 years, we have the best defensive staff in the country led by BV, and a energized program ready to prove the college football world wrong. This is one step back to take 10 steps forward. A blessing in disguise. It allowed OU to take a deep look in the mirror and say how do we get to the level of Alabama and Georgia? The answer is Defense, defense, and more defense. This is OU! We will always have talent and put up points but defense wins championships. The fact Oklahoma had the top offense in the country with hesiman winning QB's year after year but their defense was ranked 112th?!?! That is straight up embarrassing to even say. How could you have such a lop sided team? The answer is by having glorified OC as head coach. Lincoln is a great offensive mind but once somebody has him figured out he lacks the ability to adjust mid game. He called plays because this is how we run our offense not based on what the game dictated we needed. You saw Cale Gundy call a beautiful game vs Oregon using Lincoln's offense because he reacted to the game and made his decision. Lincoln had plays ready before the drive even started

    Bottom line we are the Sooners and we score when the defence gifts the offence the ball, we make the other side pay for turning the ball over and reward our defence by scoring. Jeff Lebbys offence kills momentum when they go three and out every time the defence get him the ball. I say again I am not a Lebby fan, not drinking Lebby cool Aid who would want a coach that can't get his QBs ready. Jeff Lebby and Ted Roof "the booth twins" should keep there bags packed for that fake Alabama job or wherever, whomever wants a scandal or losing season with a locker room full of great players, I don't trust Jeff Lebby on bit....On another note, can somebody please tell me how the Oklahoma Sooners can lose 4-5 games by a field goal or two in 2022 and no one is talking about recruiting a Kicker or Kickers in 2023. if we had someone like # 47 Gabe Brkic we would have won more games.

    • @MaxEffortSooner
      @MaxEffortSooner 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of these defenses are a 3-3-5 or 4-2-5. Almost everyone has a couple Hybrid Linebackers (rush ends) that sometime show as a down lineman. And everyone has an inside corner (nickel). Nobody really runs a true 4-3 or 4-4 anymore. Even playing the triple option it's better to have the speed on the field to go sideline to sideline. The teams still running the triple option don't have the big guys. Good rosters can still match up with better athletes.

    Great OU vs OSU game I am glad we won. However, this is the University of Oklahoma we expect to put out quality a product with a great level of consistency. Having said that, VB now needs a QB coach that can develop. Booth coaches are never champion level coaches otherwise coach VB would have spent most of his career in a booth. High level coaches coach from ground level with their players, the wont to see what the player see and coach them up. Coaching tempo lost or change within the game, otherwise meeting the players where they are. These player deserve better they have done everything ask of them. Not what a coach wants to see from a over head view. "The players on the field don't have this view!!!!" Next come Confidence and momentum.change you need to be on the field to get back when its lost I say coach VB let these guys stay in the booth pay them as analyst and hire a new DC and AC that can coach at ground level.
