The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary’s mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
On this channel, The Lion Whisperer films the majority of his footage using a GoPro camera, allowing viewers to get as close as possible to the lions, leopards and hyenas at the sanctuary.
Kevin Richardson hopes to provide viewers insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and in turn, by watching the videos on the channel, viewers will be directly contributing to the conservation of these majestic animals.

Miles Propper I lost my big boy, a huge boxer, Ernie, 98 pounds and we kept him light as possible due to a genetic heart condition. He never understood how big he was and remained my lap puppy until he passed at just 4 1/2 years old. He would stand in front of my big chair & a half- gotten just so he could fit with me-looking all pitiful and I would say oh my big boy come cuddle with me. He would crawl onto my lap and we would snuggle together. He was such a sweet big boy. Though I knew it could happen at any time, it broke my heart when one day with absolutely no sign it was coming, he just collapsed in the yard playing with his sister. Ernie didn’t suffer, he was just gone that fast. Every time Kevin says that phrase, I can see my big boy waiting to be invited onto my lap.

Once Bongani passes, I wouldn’t be surprised if Suja and Meg are given a ‘second chance at love’... with Meg already knowing him and having her sister gone, and Suja without his lion boss Bongani, it might be a match made in heaven. Meg can be the boss and Suja can be the ‘Yes Dear’ lion he’s always dreamed of!! 😍

The Bongani story hit home: “Why should we appreciate him any more or less when he’s well or sick.” I feel like we do that with our parents or siblings. Until they are sick or old and frail, do we then show how much love we have for them. Why do we have to wait for a crisis to appreciate what we have right in front of us?

I think, for Americans who are more likely to live in scattered families, it is too easy to fall into that "out of sight, out of mind" mode. To borrow another phrase: "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone", but then is too late to make amends or to forgive, or to just say "I love you."

Suja was ready for a walk on a lovely day. How very sad that covid caused fatal health problems for Bongani (3 years later, he's still fighting, that speaks for the healthy TLC they have). ! Suja's caution is as endearing as Bongani's confidence. ❣🦁❣

When I first read this I was thinking maybe it was just one of those "say anything for a like" type comments...then Suja walked up close to the camera and I realized that no, he really does have an empathetic face!!! Beautiful boy!

Interesting how human beings see human expressions in animals so easily, even going as far as believing they tell something about that animal's character. "He/she looks so empathic/mean/contemplative" etc. It's all a false positive made by your brain, why not just ignore it?

Wow! These 2 are so different in personality and both are fantastic. Sure they get tired; they are seniors. I never would have thought of a lion being “skittish” but Suja is and I find it cute. Especially when he was looking at Meg and Kevin said he was terrified of her. Bongani is a great specimen. You are so right Kevin; we should love them everyday like it was their last. 🇺🇸❤️

Suja behaved very badly when he was introduced to the girls . The meeting with Tsar went well but Suja attacked Tsar and scared the girls. Bongani was like "What the. . ?"
@Steelerz Reign Supreme sorry I don't. This video was about Kevin moving his sanctuary to the present location so it's riveting There's Tau, Napoleon and Tabby. Suja, Bongani and Tsar are a pride, who are Rodney' s favourites, then the attempt to form a new pride by bringing the girls and Bongani' s pride together, it fails, so Kevin has to build a new enclosure for Meg and Amy but he says they're worth it, Vayetse behaving naughtily because Kevin hasn't spent time with him, because of the move, chewing Kevin's shoe and harassing poor Livy who is so mad, a young Bobcat sitting and roaring with Kevin.. you just need to search for Kevin Stephenson and you may stumble on it. In the Lion Ranger videos Siam and Bongani are leading men in movies and ads. Today it's Vayetse and Bobcat.
The relationships between male lions is one of my favorite things about Lions. That love and affection that has nothing to do with sex just floors me. BTW Their black manes are outfeckinrageous.

Aww good boy Suja! Getting in first. I recently watched Kev's 2003 documentary "Dangerious Companions," and seen Bongani and his siblings being hand raised by Kevin when their mother rejected after giving birth a week earlier. He really is a miracle. U also got to see Meg & Amy when they were cubs in it too. Look it up it's a great watch.

Glad Bongani doing well ! FIP is so cruel in Cats. We had a 12 week old Kitten that we could only have for 4 weeks due to this !! She gave so much love . It broke our Heart when we had to say Goodbye . Thanks for all what you do Kev !!
Yea. I was going to foster a rescued momma and 4 babies. Before introducing them to my others i always tested them. But momma and all babies had FIP, I didnt let them suffer, they all passed together. Beautiful family. That was 20 years ago and im crying for them again now.

Watching these videos with Kevin and all the animals, one almost forgets how dangerous his job actually is. A bad day could result in death. Yet his relationship with the lions are seemingly natural. It’s like my relationship with my domestic cat. So as I watch him talk about and walk with Bongani and Suja, I realize how incredibly AMAZING Kevin actually is. And how rare his work is. There are a lot of people in the world that work with wild animals, but none have the respect Kevin has. And because of that is why I decided to become a subscriber and a member. We need more people like Kevin.
Of course I love the lions and learning about them and their personalities, but I also like it when you show some of the many people that help make the sanctuary the success it is.
Kev , u made me fall in love with these beautiful lions. The lions really had a great time with you. Keep doing this great work. Hats off to you.

Kevin, would it be a good idea for a wooden ramp for Sugi to walk up into the vehicle with greater ease as they are getting older? Interesting to hear about a lion getting corona virus. Like hearing the stories/memories you have abiut each lion. You have such a friendly way of telling.

I just love Bongani and specially when he gets vocal. And then Suja decided to totally pull a "wild card" out of his ear.....and said watch this Kev....in I go....first!!!!!
