There is no appeals court in the universe that would grant him a mistrial based on the record this judge has kept. They'll laugh him right out of court.

That's why he was upset that the prosecution didn't cross examine his witnesses. He found it dismissive of his talents as a debater. which it was.
There is little they could have asked them which could have done more damage to him than he did in his questioning. It also sped things along, which is a valid tactic.
I think DB thought of cross examination as a required dance step, rather than a way to gain information. It never occurred to him the prosecution might not want to cross examine a witness, especially when the defendant had dragged out cross examinations, putting the State way behind. Only the prosecution had a time frame: they needed sentencing complete by the Thursday before Thanksgiving. The State was tossing everything not absolutely needed. Besides, all DB’s witnesses were the ones not needed by the prosecution.

As a retired defense attorney and former federal prosecutor with nearly 45 years of experience trying cases, my only criticism of DA Sue Opper was in her rebuttal argument where she, in my humble opinion, should have pointed out that the police examination of the red Ford Escape revealed that all four wheels of the Ford Escape had proper brake function, in order to counter his closing argument that somehow he couldn't stop because the car was defective and subject to a Ford recall.

I can't believe the judge allowed Darrell Brooks to suggest that there was evidence being withheld from the jury. The DA should have said that there is no evidence being withheld from this jury and the judge should have backed that. That statement can leave doubts in the minds of some juries, even if the judge says to disregard. Yes the DA should have focused more on the vehicle, and how there is nothing wrong with its stopping capabilities.

That's good on you to investigate a possible motive, but from his abhorrent conduct in the court and utter lack of remorse shown so far, I think its safe to say the people were in his way and he regarded them as little more than traffic cones. This is not the first time he ran someone over. On his first appearance in court they read his previous charges. I believe it was 11/2/21 he punched his ex. When she was walking away he ran her over. That was weeks before he decided to drive through that Christmas parade. I mean come on. This should be a slam dunk case. I can't believe someone went on line asking Justice for him. Wait what??? Where is the Justice for the deceased or mamed during his fits of rage. Their families deserve it more.
